As Isabella was caught in a whirlpool of thoughts, Jonas's voice suddenly broke through her reverie. "Everyone, come take a look," Jonas's tone sounded somewhat somber. "There's an altar up ahead." 0

Isabella's heart tightened, and she quickly turned to head toward the source of the voice. As she approached, she saw Jonas standing before an ancient altar, which was piled high with various strange items, some of which appeared to be animal bones and ancient pottery. The walls surrounding the altar were adorned with more carvings, depicting scenes of sacrifice; the dark and twisted figures sent chills down her spine. 0

Mocus stood beside the altar, his gaze somewhat frenzied. His eyes darted around the walls as if he were trying to imprint every detail into his mind. He looked unusually focused, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly, as if he were overwhelmed with excitement at everything he saw. Everything here deepened his obsession with this place, making him almost forget the dangers surrounding them. 0

Raymond held a flashlight, slowly sweeping it across the ground and walls around the altar. He was trying to uncover more clues, but his sense of foreboding about this place grew stronger by the moment. The beam of his flashlight moved slowly through the darkness, casting shadows that seemed to conceal something lurking within, ready to spring out and attack them. 0

Suddenly, a crisp cracking sound came from beneath Raymond's feet. He felt something crunch under his boot and looked down, gasping in horror—he had stepped on a long-dried corpse. 0

The body had long since desiccated, leaving only a skeleton behind; its skin clung to the bones like old parchment, creating a particularly gruesome sight. Cracks marred the skull, indicating it had suffered some fatal blow. A chill surged from Raymond's feet up through his body, and the beam of his flashlight trembled slightly. His breathing quickened, and his heartbeat echoed loudly in the stillness around him. 0

"What the hell... how could there be a corpse here?" Raymond muttered to himself, his voice shaking with shock. He quickly directed the flashlight toward the ground and discovered more remains scattered around; some were completely buried in dust while only a few bones lay exposed, revealing the tragedy that had once unfolded in this place. 0

This discovery left everyone feeling extremely uneasy. Isabella stared at the corpse beneath Raymond's feet, a wave of intense fear washing over her. The ruins here were not merely an ancient sacrificial site; they might also hide some far more terrifying secret. 0

Raymond immediately pulled his foot away, his heart racing as he frantically shone the flashlight around him. The beam cut through the darkness, illuminating more chilling sights. As he moved the flashlight, Raymond was astonished to find that corpses were nearly everywhere on the ground surrounding the altar, as if a horrific massacre had once taken place here. Each body was desiccated as if time had devoured all their vitality, leaving only hollow eye sockets and curled bones that spoke of silence and despair. 0

The bodies lay haphazardly piled near the altar; some remained in kneeling positions while others lay on their backs with arms outstretched weakly as if engaged in futile struggles. Raymond's flashlight beam settled on one corpse that bore a deep gash across its chest, as though pierced by some sharp object; dark red stains on its skin had long since dried up, leaving behind indelible marks. 0

Seeing all this made Raymond's stomach lurch violently; he felt an overwhelming sense of nausea. What had happened here? Why were there so many corpses piled beside this eerie altar? These questions swirled in his mind without yielding any answers. 0

"Damn it..." Raymond couldn't help but curse under his breath, fear and anger mingling in his voice. Cold sweat trickled down from his forehead as he struggled to keep his flashlight steady; it shook uncontrollably in his hand. His grip tightened around his gun, yet he felt an unprecedented sense of helplessness—as if no weapon could combat the dark forces lurking within this land. 0

Standing nearby, Samuel was rendered speechless by the scene before him. His face turned pale, and his body trembled slightly. He tried to avert his gaze, but the bodies scattered around the altar seemed to possess an invisible allure that kept his eyes glued to them. His fingers gripped the tablet tightly, knuckles turning white, revealing his inner tension. 0

"Damn it... what is this place?" Samuel muttered under his breath, his voice laced with unease and fear. He felt a chill in his limbs, as if a cold wind were sweeping through him, causing him to instinctively shrink back. 0

Samuel's heart raced, fear crashing over him like a tidal wave. He involuntarily stepped back, his footsteps frantic, completely unaware of the wall behind him. Suddenly, his back slammed against the cold stone wall, dislodging some loose debris and dust that fell with his impact. As he stumbled, dust swirled up, tiny particles floating in the air and enveloping him. 0

"Ah!" Samuel screamed in shock, feeling the dust cling to him as if it were seeping into his clothes. A violent itch erupted all over his body, especially on his back, where he felt as if something was writhing beneath his skin. His complexion paled even further as he clawed at his back frantically, but these actions did nothing to alleviate the sensation of countless tiny creatures crawling inside him. 0

"Damn it! Something's on me... they're crawling!" Samuel shrieked, his voice trembling like shattered glass. He kept slapping at himself as if that would drive away the unseen invaders. Yet no matter how hard he tried, the itching intensified, as if those things were becoming more frenzied within him. 0

Raymond noticed Samuel's abnormal reaction and rushed over, pulling him away. "Calm down! Samuel, calm down!" Raymond grasped his shoulders firmly, forcibly pulling him away from the wall in an attempt to stabilize his emotions. 0

Samuel's face was a mask of terror and pain; his breathing became rapid and erratic, eyes glazed over as if trapped in an unending nightmare. Raymond shook him vigorously, trying to bring him back from the brink of panic. 0

"Samuel, it's just dust; you're not being bitten by anything, and there's nothing on you! Calm down!" Raymond's voice was low and steady, attempting to pull Samuel back from the edge of collapse. 0

However, Samuel still felt that undeniable itch on his back, like countless needles piercing through his skin, bringing unbearable torment. Even though reason told him it was merely an illusion, his body could not deceive itself; the intense stimulation plunged him deeper into panic. 0

Raymond understood that if he didn't help Samuel regain control, this panic would quickly spread throughout their group. He lowered his voice helplessly and leaned closer to Samuel's ear. "Listen, Samuel, this environment can induce pressure and fear in you, but you must stay calm; otherwise, we will all be in danger." 0

Samuel nodded slowly; although terror still etched across his face, he began to focus on controlling his breathing in response to Raymond's firm words. He attempted to redirect his attention and gradually calm his body's reactions. The sensation of something burrowing inside him persisted, but he started trying to ignore it and detach himself from this intangible fear. 0
