Living with an Exceptional Professor 178: Why Revenge on Me

The environment was conducive to quiet reflection. It was still too early for dinner, so there were hardly any people around. Jiang Chuchu and Rao Jie walked in, but unlike a few years ago, they didn’t walk side by side, stepping on the stone path together. The stone path was awkwardly laid out, requiring long strides to navigate; otherwise, one would likely step onto the grass in between. 0

In the past, they would have laughed as they hopped along. Now, however, neither of them felt like walking on the stone path. They headed directly to a spot near the lake's edge instead. As they walked on the dry grass, Jiang Chuchu remained silent, inching closer to the stone path by the lake, which looked somewhat precarious. 0

Rao Jie walked beside her and finally couldn’t hold back any longer. “I have things to do. If you don’t have anything to say, I’ll be leaving,” she said. 0

“How did your graduate school entrance exam go?” Jiang Chuchu suddenly asked out of the blue. 0

Rao Jie was taken aback and felt a bit uncomfortable but replied honestly, “No regrets.” 0

Jiang Chuchu scoffed lightly. “But I failed miserably. It was a complete disaster.” 0

Rao Jie fell silent, unable to respond. 0

“Do you know why I failed?” Jiang Chuchu continued. 0

Her tone made Rao Jie uneasy. “You’re not going to blame me again, are you?” Rao Jie replied coldly. 0

Jiang Chuchu stopped walking and turned to face Rao Jie. 0

Rao Jie met her gaze without fear; she owed Jiang Chuchu nothing—if anything, it was Jiang Chuchu who owed her. So it was Jiang Chuchu who should feel guilty in this confrontation. 0

Suddenly, Jiang Chuchu let out a strange laugh. “Because the night before the exam, Bao Ming broke up with me. He said he loved you and that he had made up his mind to be with you.” 0

Jiang Chuchu’s expression was so odd that it sent chills down Rao Jie’s spine. 0

Unable to help herself, Rao Jie took a step back. “That person has nothing to do with me. If you want to complain, go find him. You shouldn’t come to me; I’ve already started my new life.” 0

Jiang Chuchu showed a mixed expression of laughter and tears. “I don’t believe that! You must have gotten together with him! Otherwise, how could he be so heartless as to dump me? You’re getting back at me for losing my Graduate School Recommendation spot, aren’t you? But don’t forget that the recommendation spot was something you snatched from me! What right do you have to take revenge on me?” 0

Jiang Chuchu nearly shouted the last part. 0

Rao Jie felt that Jiang Chuchu had lost her grip on reality. She didn’t want to waste any more time with her; it felt like no matter what she said, it wouldn’t make sense. “You’re overthinking this. Even if I explain it to you, you won’t believe me. If that’s all you wanted to say, then I don’t want to discuss it anymore.” 0

Rao Jie turned to leave, but Jiang Chuchu reached out and grabbed her arm. Rao Jie looked back, wanting to break free, but Jiang Chuchu began to cry. 0

Rao Jie was taken aback. 0

Jiang Chuchu held onto her arm, almost pleadingly saying, "Rao Jie, please, don’t compete with me for Bao Ming. He is all I have; he means everything to me. I'm pregnant with Bao Ming's child. How can you destroy our lives? How can you bear to see my child abandoned by his own father? Bao Ming is willing to give up our child for you. Please let go of Bao Ming; if you leave, he will come back to us." 0

Upon hearing this, Rao Jie’s mind went blank, and her gaze instinctively shifted to Jiang Chuchu's belly. There… there really was a child. 0
