The hand was withered, as if it had no moisture at all. Slowly, it reached from behind my neck into my line of sight. When I saw those hands, I couldn't help but gasp, and my first thought was to run. 0

Noodles barked a few times. 0

The hand rested on my shoulder, yet it did not strike me. The atmosphere became unbearably oppressive. 0

I took a deep breath, fear building up inside me. Finally, I let out a scream and started to run, never looking back, too afraid to turn around. 0

I remembered what the elders had said: if you are being followed by a ghost, never look back; once you do, you might be possessed. 0

The fear inside me surged like an endless tide, easily swallowing me whole. I gasped for breath under the dim lights of the hospital corridor, beads of sweat covering my face, panic evident in my demeanor. 0

Noodles followed closely beside me. 0

I pulled out my phone and called Fat Zhang, but there was no answer. Next, I called Jianjian. As soon as the call connected, someone picked up. 0

"Hello, Jianjian, where are you and Fat Zhang right now?" 0

"We're in the hospital corridor." 0

"What corridor? What floor?" I asked urgently. 0

But just then, I heard a scream on the other end of the line before the voice could finish speaking. 0

I shouted into the phone, but there was no response. 0

I looked at the time on my phone; it was already a quarter past twelve. 0

The hospital was eerily quiet, as if all the patients and nurses had vanished. 0

For some reason, I suddenly recalled what that person had said to me while I was smoking in the restroom earlier. He mentioned that the hospital was filled with heavy Yin energy, and that the restroom had even more. After finishing my smoke, I should leave quickly. 0

I leaned against the wall, glancing around nervously. Thankfully, there were lights here; otherwise, it would have been even more terrifying in the dark. I wondered what had happened to Zhang Fatty and what kind of trouble he was in. 0

Jianjian could see ghosts, so she should be able to avoid them, I prayed silently. 0

That bastard Wang Wei! He had said he wanted to go out with me, but when we reached the hospital entrance, he ran off like he had seen a ghost. Now he was turning around to scare us instead. 0

I started walking again with Noodles by my side. Just as I turned a corner, Noodles began barking frantically. There were rumors that dogs could see ghosts and that black dogs could ward off evil spirits. 0

So after Noodles' sudden outburst, I felt my anxiety rising again; my heart raced. 0

I stopped in my tracks and called out for Wang Wei. 0

My voice echoed down the corridor, reverberating like waves crashing against the shore. 0

"Wang Wei, didn't I say I would take you out? It's not my fault you chose not to leave." I spoke as if to myself, but I knew Wang Wei could hear me. 0

He might very well be standing right next to me. I lit a cigarette and took a deep drag, thinking about how Zhang Dexin still hadn’t shown up. His nephew, Zhang Fatty, was in critical condition at the hospital, and he hadn’t even come to check on him. 0

Wang Wei must be a bit scared of Zhang Dexin. 0

It was eerie, so eerie that it felt like a nightmare. My back was already drenched in cold sweat. 0

“Wang Wei…” I exhaled a puff of smoke and called out again. 0

I walked down the hospital corridor, and with my last step, I found myself standing in front of that room again. I didn’t continue walking; I knew that even if I did, there would be no escape. 0

I stood at the door, peering inside the room, and saw a figure lying on the broken hospital bed. 0

I stepped inside. “What are you doing here?” 0

Wang Wei lay on the bed, silent as he lit a cigarette upon seeing me. Wang Wei was a ghost, and now this ghost was smoking. 0

“What do you want?” My initial panic had transformed into anger. 0

Wang Wei continued to smoke without answering me. 0

“You want to leave? I can take you out. It’s you who refuses to go. Why are you trapping us here now?” 0

Suddenly, Wang Wei let out a cold laugh, his expression darkening as he looked at me. “Do you really think it’s me who’s keeping you here?” His voice was deep, as if it were scraped from his throat. 0

After he spoke, he chuckled again. 0

I retorted, “If it’s not you, then who? Is there something else in this hospital?” 0

Wang Wei didn’t respond, lying back on the broken bed and taking another drag from his cigarette. 0

"Speak up!" I urged. 0

At that moment, the atmosphere had returned to silence, and Wang Wei seemed to ignore me, continuing to smoke. 0

"Come on, I'm taking you out now." I felt as if I were under a spell. 0

As I approached the bedside, Wang Wei suddenly let out a cold laugh and said, "Do you really think you can leave?" Those words hit me like a chill. 0

I murmured to myself, "Isn't all of this your doing?" 0

Wang Wei fell silent, closing his eyes and refusing to speak. In the ward, I began to wonder if those withered hands were truly Wang Wei's or belonged to someone else. 0

Then the person who had pretended to be Fat Zhang on the bed couldn't have been Wang Wei either. 0

What exactly was going on here? Earlier, Chen Ke'er had warned me not to enter, saying Wang Wei was inside. Perhaps things weren't as they seemed. 0

The noodles brushed against my pant leg. 0

Lost in thought, I couldn't help but ask Wang Wei, "What is going on? Who is trying to trap us here?" 0

Wang Wei remained silent. 0

Slowly, I sat down on another bed, reminiscent of my first hospitalization when Wang Wei had been beside me. 0

Back then, Wang Wei had said something cruel to me: "I don't talk to the dead." Yet he himself was dead at that time; even the dead looked down on the dead. 0

“Wang Wei, who trapped you here?” 0

Wang Wei remained silent. He had likely been stuck in this hospital for quite some time. What was he hiding? He had once said that only I could take him out. 0

But now, I found myself trapped here as well. What on earth was going on? 0

I said, “Wang Wei, do you really want to be stuck in this hellhole for the rest of your life? Don’t you want to get out? Don’t you want to be reincarnated?” 0

Wang Wei turned over and finally spoke. “Of course I want to get out, but I can’t. I’ve been trapped here for decades. I thought meeting you would mean freedom, but it turns out we both ended up in the same predicament.” 0

I asked, “Why are you trapped here? Who put you here?” 0

Wang Wei looked at me with a serious expression, as if he were guarding a deep secret. “I can’t say. If I do, I’ll be soul shattered.” 0

I pressed on, “Then why did you initially believe that I could take you out?” 0

Wang Wei seemed to fall silent again, as if he had drifted off to sleep. With him not speaking, I felt powerless. The atmosphere grew quiet. 0

Only the sound of my breathing filled the air, and suddenly I realized I was enveloped in a massive conspiracy. 0

I was just a pawn, and now this pawn was about to be discarded. 0

Panic began to set in. 0

But no matter what, I had to try. I refused to believe that I couldn’t escape. With noodles in hand, I left the ward and turned back one last time to ask Wang Wei again. 0

"Wang Wei said that those who cannot walk away will never escape." 0

I had nothing more to say; Wang Wei had already given up on himself. I left the hospital room and walked down the corridor, in the absolute silence of the environment, I continued walking. 0

I was completely at a loss, and after the tenth time, I found myself back at the door of the hospital room. 0

This was an endless cycle of dead ends. Just when I was about to give up, Noodle grabbed my pant leg and dragged me forward. 0

I asked Noodle where we were going, but he only barked a few times. 0

Confused, I followed Noodle. After turning a corner, I finally saw a "living person" in the hospital, and Noodle barked excitedly. 0

As I approached, seeing this living person brought me an inexplicable sense of calm. 0

"It’s you," I said in surprise. 0

The person who appeared was none other than Chen Ke'er, her exquisite and beautiful face coming into my view. 0

"What are you doing here? Now you can't leave either; this is my fault," I said somewhat dejectedly. 0

Chen Ke'er simply replied with two words: "It's fine." 0

She had saved me so many times before; I guessed that this time she must have come to save me again. Although I didn’t understand why she kept rescuing me. 0
