The Princess walked towards me, but at that moment, she looked somewhat eerie.
"Let's go inside," the Princess said to me.
I nodded, and two people entered first. The Princess led the way, with me following closely behind, and Wang Wei and Clay Bodhisattva trailing after us. Once inside, I was stunned by the scene before me. It resembled a realm of earth-like demons.
The interior was not very spacious; there was only a single path that extended straight upward, resembling a heavenly ladder, with oil lamps lighting up one by one on either side.
The light illuminated the straight path.
I asked, "Where is Ke'er’s Seed of Souls hidden?"
The Princess replied that it was next to the Dragon Vein. But what kind of existence is the Dragon Vein? If I retrieve Ke'er’s Soul Seed, will something happen to her?
A sense of worry lingered in my heart; whenever it came to matters concerning Ke'er, I became indecisive and overly contemplative.
We continued walking forward, and after about half an hour, the ascending ladder became level. Walking amidst this cliff made me feel somewhat cold inside.
After turning a corner, many ancient murals appeared on the walls. They depicted howling wolves under the moon and other bizarre images.
The Princess acted like a tour guide and began explaining some things to us.
Honestly, I wasn’t very interested in these details; my goal was clear: the Seed of Souls. The light illuminated the narrow path beneath our feet, which could only accommodate two people walking side by side.
However, the environment here felt eerie; it was so vast that when I looked up, it seemed impossible to see the top. The darkness here was impenetrable by light.
The path continued to stretch onward. It felt ancient and heavy; this place was so concealed that for Chen San to find it seemed nearly impossible. With such a complex terrain, if Chen San could locate this place, his skills would be formidable indeed.
Gradually, the ground became uneven, and then I caught a whiff of blood. The metallic scent filled my nostrils.
I asked, "Why does it smell like blood?"
The Princess explained that it was for sacrificial preparations; she was supposed to die. However, if they destroyed the Dragon Vein, they wouldn’t have to die after all.
Of course, I wouldn't do that. I'm still not sure if these people have other intentions.
I'm just here to find the Seed of Souls.
The Dragon Vein hidden within Azure Mountain is incredibly mysterious. It won't be easy to obtain the Dragon Vein.
After passing through this passage, a vast space appeared before me. The area was large, but it was clearly constructed.
There were several towering pillars here, and some fences had been built as well. Looking up, I felt insignificantly small.
This kind of architecture must have taken a lot of effort to construct, and it certainly required a considerable workforce. Just looking at these werewolves made it clear; they were practically natural laborers.
An ancient atmosphere spread throughout the space. In the center of this area was something that twisted upward, resembling tree roots. It looked just like roots, only thicker—about the size of a bucket.
What shocked me was not just its appearance but its height. As I looked up, I couldn't see where its top ended. I thought to myself, this must be the so-called Dragon Vein.
I began to survey the environment but found nothing particularly special. Aside from this root-like structure, there was nothing else remarkable.
I took a deep breath.
Wang Wei and Clay Bodhisattva were also astonished. Wang Wei said, "Could this really be the Dragon Vein?"
Before I could respond, Princess confirmed Wang Wei's statement. However, I wondered how to destroy this thing.
Seeing my confusion, Princess remarked that this was not its true form.
"What is its true form?" Wang Wei asked.
After the local ritual takes place, it would reveal itself. Wang Wei became intrigued and continued to ask questions while Princess shared some information.
I didn't have time to waste here, so I asked, "Where is Ke'er's Soul Seed?"
The Princess looked at me, her blood-red eyes now returned to their normal color.
"The soul of Sister Ke'er is attached to this Dragon Vein," she said. I looked ahead but couldn't sense any trace of a soul.
Could it be too far away?
Thinking this, I used my soul to construct a ladder and began to ascend along the soul web, examining the patterns on the surface of the Dragon Vein.
The surface of the Dragon Vein resembled tree roots, but only when I got closer could I feel that it was not just roots; it emanated a powerful and awe-inspiring aura.
As I climbed higher, I finally spotted a flickering ball of light at the top of the Dragon Vein. The light wasn't very bright, but its color was a fiery red.
I gazed at this ball of light, and it seemed to be looking back at me. I sensed that this light must be the soul.
However, I didn't distinctly feel Ke'er's presence.
There was only a faint sensation that felt somewhat familiar. When I reached out to touch the ball of light, it flinched away slightly.
This was definitely a soul.
Just as I intended to cup the soul in my hands, someone called out to me from below. The voice was faint, but I still heard it.
It sounded like the Princess's voice; she urged me not to disturb the ball of light above.
The ball of light clearly seemed afraid of me and moved downward a bit. I didn't forcefully try to grasp it, uncertain if this light was indeed Ke'er's soul.
Doubt lingered in my heart. Not understanding this place well, I refrained from acting recklessly and quickly descended. Upon reaching the ground, I noticed that the Princess appeared somewhat anxious.
She asked me, "Did you disturb that soul?"
I replied that I hadn't, and then I asked, "What is that ball of light?" After hearing my answer, the Princess finally calmed down.
The Princess said, "That is Sister Ke'er’s soul."
I was taken aback for a moment and said, "But why do I feel that Ke'er’s presence is so weak?" Just now, I had hardly sensed Ke'er’s soul at all.
I had never fully trusted the Wolf Tribe, so I suspected they might be deceiving me.
"That is Sister Ke'er’s newly born soul, the purest form of a soul. It may not have many memories associated with you."
Her words sounded somewhat mysterious, and I didn't quite understand them at first.
I stared at her and then asked, "When did this soul come to exist here?"
The Princess was silent for a moment before saying, "One hundred years ago."
Upon hearing this, I fell silent as well. After a while, I wondered why I couldn't take that ball of light away.
At that moment, the Princess said, "If you take Sister Ke'er’s soul away, she will die."
The death she referred to was not an ordinary one but an eternal death. If that ball of light truly contained Ke'er’s soul, and if what the Princess said was true—that taking it away would cause her soul to perish—then resurrecting her would become an unachievable dream.
I looked intently at the Princess, but she remained calm and composed. Perhaps because we had fallen silent, the Princess spoke again: "Sister Ke'er’s soul is connected to the Dragon Vein. If she leaves, it will affect this Dragon Vein."
"What do you mean?" Wang Wei asked.
Meanwhile, Ritual was preparing over there. The Princess said, "Only Sister Ke'er can come here herself to retrieve her soul."
I think I finally understand, but suddenly a guess popped into my mind: Ke'er is actually symbiotic with the Dragon Vein.
The Dragon Vein nourishes Ke'er's soul, while Ke'er's soul reciprocates by providing something to the Dragon Vein. There must be some kind of agreement between them.
However, I can't see what it is yet.
The Old Woman was directing the Ronins to get to work. They collaborated efficiently, and soon a platform was constructed from several stones. The stones were stained with blood.
I asked, "Are you going to kill the Dragon Vein?"
But does the Dragon Vein even have life? What exactly is its essence? I looked at them with anticipation, yet I feared this might be a trap.
Can these werewolves be trusted?
They worship the wolf for its brave spirit, yet they also despise it for its cunning, greedy, and brutal nature.
Can these werewolves truly be trusted? At this moment, I had no solid foundation in my heart.
The Princess said, "The Dragon Vein cannot be killed."
I asked directly, "Then what are you sacrificing? Do you still want to die?" These werewolves would not easily let their Princess die; otherwise, they wouldn't have sought me out as a substitute.
So now that they still want to hold a sacrifice, it must mean someone needs to be sacrificed. Who will that person be?
Is it me?
The ritual surrounding this sacrifice is shrouded in mystery and tightly intertwined with the wolves.
This ritual should also be related to the recent Red Moon. Of course, this is just my speculation for now; after all, these ideas only exist in my imagination.
"After hearing my question, the Princess said, 'This Ritual is simply to draw out the essence of the Dragon Vein.'"
I stared at the Princess, almost watching her lips move as she spoke each word. Suddenly, Clay Bodhisattva leaned in and asked, "What do you plan to do once the Dragon Vein is out?"
The Princess replied that once the Dragon Vein appeared, they could take it away. Her words left me stunned; taking away the Dragon Vein seemed impossible.
I had just felt the presence of the Dragon Vein—how could it be so easily taken?
"What do we need the Dragon Vein for? Can we eat it?" Clay Bodhisattva asked directly.
To my surprise, the Princess answered that it could be eaten. I was taken aback; this was the Dragon Vein we were talking about. Was it really like a thousand-year-old ginseng?
"What does it taste like?" Wang Wei asked.
Wang Wei's question was so foolish that not only was the Princess speechless, but I was too. Just then, Old Woman called out to the Princess, and she walked over.
After that, I noticed that all the werewolves' eyes had turned blood red.
