Jin Chengyan was truly a man of action. After signing the contract, he immediately arranged for the best doctor for Jono's father. The nightclub where she had previously worked was inexplicably shut down, so naturally, she no longer had to repay her debts.
Meanwhile, Jono was staying at Jin Mansion while Qiao Chen was at school.
Two days later, Alice brought over the marriage certificate between her and Jin Chengyan. It was a small, bright red booklet that felt hot in her hands. The photo inside was a composite, but when Jono saw Jin Chengyan's ID picture for the first time, she thought he looked... handsome.
It was only when she saw the marriage certificate that Jono truly realized she was married to Jin Chengyan.
However, this matter had not been announced publicly, and Jono had no idea what Jin Chengyan intended to do.
She also started working at what used to be Qiao's Architecture and was now Jin Architecture. From initially feeling lost and out of place, she gradually found her footing over the course of half a month, finally understanding what sales entailed.
But just as she began to grasp things, the Sales Director handed her a list with the task of increasing the sales rate of a community that had been below ten percent to thirty percent within a month. She knew someone above was putting pressure on her.
The company staff were still the same people who hadn't helped when Jono's father fell seriously ill. Now they were worried that if Jono ever climbed up the ranks, she would retaliate even more fiercely. So before she could gain any real power, they were determined to suppress her.
If she failed this project, she would have to leave Jin Architecture.
After work, Jono first went to the hospital to see her father. He had been moved to a regular ward but still showed no signs of waking up. The doctor told Jono that they could only wait; perhaps her father would wake up one day.
At eight o'clock, she returned to Jin Mansion from the hospital.
She entered the house after entering the code for the front door, only to see a black Bentley parked in the yard. Was that Jin Chengyan's car? He was here?
Jono took a deep breath and walked towards the mansion, skillfully opening the wooden door. Although the main entrance had a keypad lock, the inside was secured with a traditional key, so there was no beeping sound.
As she opened the door, she put away her keys and changed her shoes in the foyer, pondering where Jin Chengyan might be. Should she invite him to share the dinner she had brought back?
While walking toward the living room, she heard some noise coming from the stairs. Standing at the foot of the stairs, she looked up and saw Jin Chengyan slowly descending.
However… he was only wrapped in a towel that barely covered his essential parts, loosely tied around his waist. As he walked down, it seemed like the towel could fall off at any moment, and he was completely unaware of it.
Suddenly, she recalled that time in the hotel when she had taken a picture of him; that had truly been… quite revealing.
At this thought, Jono's face flushed red.
Now, while worrying about that towel that might drop at any moment, her gaze inadvertently traveled upward, taking in his V-shaped torso, toned muscles, sexy Adam's apple, and… his damp hair.
Jono instinctively swallowed hard. It wasn't that she was drooling over his looks, but seeing such a walking embodiment of hormones right in front of her made it hard not to appreciate him.
"Why are you back so late?" Jin Chengyan glanced at the clock in the hallway; it was nearly nine o'clock.
"Ah…" Jono pointed outside, though she wasn't even sure why she did that. She raised the takeout bag in her hand as well. "I went to see my dad at the hospital, and…"
As she spoke, her eyes darted around nervously; she still wasn't used to the shift in her relationship with Jin Chengyan.
Feeling increasingly embarrassed to stare at a man whose upper body was exposed and whose lower half could reveal itself at any moment, her face grew redder.
He continued to walk downstairs and stood next to Jono, noticing that her handbag was unzipped because it was filled with documents, while she held a takeout bag in her other hand.
"Why is your face so red? Are you coming down with something?" Jin Chengyan raised his hand and placed his warm palm on her forehead. The touch of skin against skin made Jono's mind go blank.
She had held hands and kissed Shen Fengye before, but the sensation of Jin Chengyan touching her forehead was entirely different, like an electric current coursing through her body, leaving her feeling tingly all over.
In an instant, her face turned even redder, and she instinctively tried to move away from him. However, as she stepped back, her bag snagged on his precariously balanced towel...
The towel fell to the floor!
Then, Jono felt as if the entire mansion fell silent for ten seconds, with only the ticking of the clock echoing in the background and her heart racing as if it might leap out of her chest.
