Jono woke up again, and it was already the next morning.
She must be in the hotel. Jono's mind raced as she slowly recalled the events of last night, and her heart leaped into her throat!
She sat up abruptly and checked her clothes!
Fortunately, her outfit was intact on her body, but she immediately felt something was off. After she had gone to throw up and returned to the private room, she had only drunk one glass of wine before feeling dizzy, and then she lost consciousness.
Jono still sensed something was wrong. Checking the time, it was already ten o'clock. She quickly called the office, only to be informed that Lu Ling had been dismissed that morning, reportedly by a direct order from headquarters.
She was stunned. What had happened?
Jono rubbed her temples, washed up, checked out of the hotel, and left. There was no way to return to Jin Mansion; she could only head straight to the office.
In the taxi, Jono took out her phone and scrolled through today's news when suddenly a piece of gossip popped up.
It read: A well-known actress was assaulted at a hotel last night and discreetly went to the police afterward.
The news was accompanied by a photo. Initially, Jono didn't want to click on it, but when she saw a familiar figure in the picture, she froze.
It was Ruan Shengyu, and the other figure covered with a black bag over their head looked strikingly like Lu Ling! And there was President Zhao!
If it was Lu Ling, then it made sense that Lu Ling was directly fired by the headquarters today; it was clearly Jin Chengyan's doing!
How dare Lu Ling lay a hand on Ruan Shengyu? He must be out of his mind!
However, Jono immediately thought about how Lu Ling even encountered Ruan Shengyu. Ruan Shengyu should have bodyguards around her, right...
She didn't dwell on it too much and headed straight to the company.
To her surprise, the office was buzzing with gossip about the incident. How could Lu Ling be so audacious as to make a move on a rising star? Who was the celebrity dressed to the nines meeting?
As Jono had gone to the restaurant with Lu Ling yesterday, she was naturally bombarded with questions. Just then, her phone rang; it was a call from the school.
The teacher informed Jono that Qiao Chen had gotten into a fight at school and had been given a one-week suspension. She needed to come pick him up immediately.
Jono was furious. After finally finding a school for Qiao Chen, he had gone and gotten into trouble again!
She quickly took leave and rushed to the school, dragging Qiao Chen back home.
Qiao Chen had some injuries on his face, and Jono didn't even want to apply medicine. She felt utterly powerless.
"Qiao Chen, what do you want me to do? It wasn't easy for me to find you a school, and yet you still get into fights. Tell me, what was this one about? No one at this school should be saying your family is bankrupt or anything like that! If you don't give me a clear answer today, don't even think about resting!" Jono stood in front of Qiao Chen, shorter than him but radiating authority!
Qiao Chen remained silent, only lowering his head.
The stubborn expression on his face was strikingly similar to Jono's.
Seeing Qiao Chen remain silent only fueled Jono's anger further, and he reached out to hit his shoulder.
"Qiao Chen, are you trying to drive me crazy? If you keep this up, I won't care about you anymore." Jono was genuinely upset; why did her eighteen-year-old brother still act like a child?
She turned away, took a deep breath, but the tears kept flowing.
Yesterday, she had drunk too much and now her brother was being so thoughtless.
"Sis, please stop crying. I promise there won't be a next time..." Qiao Chen still refused to explain what had happened, but he was indeed admitting his mistake.
Jono ignored him, shook off his hand, and went into her room, slamming the door shut.
The small rented apartment fell into a heavy silence.
