Jono looked at Jin Chengyan, who was completely different from the person she had known in the past. It felt as if the one who had treated her well these days was not Jin Chengyan at all.
"I'm sorry, I overestimated myself," Jono said, suppressing the discomfort in her heart. After saying this, she turned and went back to her room.
She realized how naive she had been. Even someone as cunning as Jin Zhongshu had no way to influence who Jin Chengyan liked or wanted to be with. Did she really think she could change him on her own?
It truly confirmed her own words—overestimating herself.
Standing in the living room, Jin Chengyan felt an indescribable heaviness in his chest.
He had said such heartless things before, even more ruthless than what he had just told Jono, breaking the hearts of countless women. Yet, never before had he felt this kind of irritation.
It was as if he had committed some unforgivable crime!
He muttered a curse under his breath and decided he didn't want to stay in Jin Mansion any longer. Grabbing his car keys, he left.

Jono had been having a terrible time these past few days. She kept making mistakes at work and had been reprimanded by her boss several times.
However, things always seemed to catch her off guard. After finishing lunch and preparing to return to the office, she unexpectedly ran into two uniformed police officers at the door.
"Excuse me, are you Miss Qiao?" one of them asked.
Jono nodded.
"You are suspected of being involved in a scandal, and the parties involved wish to hold you accountable. Please come with us," the police officer said, presenting an arrest warrant to Jono.
"What? This can't be happening! I..."
"You have the right to remain silent. We are not forcing you to speak, but anything you say may be used as evidence against you. You can contact your lawyer, but for now, you must come with us to the police station!"
"Ah?" Jono felt that this was no joke; it seemed all too real, yet she had no idea what was going on!
Before she could process the situation, the police had already taken her away in a car.
Onlookers stood at the entrance, watching.
At the police station, Jono sat in the suspect's chair, facing the officers' inquiries. She felt utterly bewildered.
"Officer, I’ll say it again: I had no knowledge of Ruan Shengyu's assault. I only found out about it that morning while watching the news in a taxi! Yes, I was at that hotel that day, but I was drunk and woke up in my hotel room. I have nothing to do with what happened to her!"
"We have witnesses. Lu Ling and Zhao Qian have already confessed that you were the one who facilitated this. After it was done, Zhao Qian was supposed to sign a contract with you, and you would profit from it!" The officer presented Lu Ling's and Zhao Qian's statements, complete with their signatures—there was no room for forgery here.
But Jono felt like she was falling apart; she had no idea about any of this!
First, Jin Chengyan had misunderstood her, and now the police had solid evidence that made it seem like she was the one pulling the strings!
"The victim is a public figure; this matter will be handled discreetly, but that doesn't mean she can be bullied!" The officer said coldly to Jono.
"I..." Jono had no words left; continuing would only give them more leverage against her. "I want to speak to a lawyer!"
"Please go ahead." Immediately, the two police officers left Jono in the holding room, not giving her a phone, and even turned off the air conditioning inside!

"Young Master, Miss Qiao was just taken away by the police. The news we've gathered is that she is involved in a scandalous transaction," A-Shan hurriedly reported.
Jin Chengyan looked up, his brows slightly furrowed at the mention of those words—scandalous transaction?
"It's related to Miss Ruan's case. Lu Ling and Zhao Qian have already confessed that it was Miss Qiao who instructed them..."
"Get out."
"Young Master, are we just going to abandon Miss Qiao? She is your..." wife!
"I said get out!" Jin Chengyan raised his voice, his expression terrifying.
