Jono's mind raced as she wondered who dared to speak so boldly in front of her.
Was it Jin Chengyan?
“No... you’re not Jin Chengyan...” Jono pushed Jin Chengyan away, tears glistening on her cheeks. “Jin Chengyan should be with Ruan Shengyu now... His heart only belongs to Ruan Shengyu... Even if he married me... it was only because...”
Jono struggled to keep her balance, leaning against the wall. There was a warmer embrace right in front of her, but she rejected it.
Because she felt that this person was not Jin Chengyan.
If Jin Chengyan saw her with another man, he would surely be upset...
“Um... the reason I married Jin Chengyan... I can’t tell you...” Jono weakly pointed at Jin Chengyan with her little finger.
She leaned against the doorway, pressing the code on the keypad. “Oh no... I forgot the password... What was it? 900117?” As soon as she said it, the door unlocked. “So clever... It seems all I need to remember is Ruan Shengyu’s birthday to open my husband’s door...”
How bittersweet those words were, Jono knew in her heart.
Originally, she didn’t understand the meaning of this password; she had just overheard someone at work talking about celebrities' birthdays and noted Ruan Shengyu’s down.
It turned out to be the numbers for their home’s code.
Seeing the car parked nearby drive away, Jin Chengyan lost any intention of lingering outside and entered with Jono.
Jono was shocked that he had come in with her!
She immediately went on guard!
“You should leave! My husband will be back... he will be back!” He wouldn’t stay with Ruan Shengyu!
“Jono, look closely, it’s me, Jin Chengyan!” Jin Chengyan grasped Jono's wrist. Since he returned, he had been listening to her nonsensical ramblings.
At first, he was indeed angry; she had gone off with Yan Beiting. How could she dare to walk away with Yan Beiting? Who knew what that man would do?
Jono truly had no ulterior motives as she followed him!
Moreover, she was unaware of how charming she looked in that moment.
However, upon hearing her words, Jin Chengyan felt as if something had struck hard against his chest.
It is said that alcohol brings out the truth, and he knew that everything Jono said was genuine.
Yet, he found himself reluctant to fully believe her; he would rather think that Jono had never truly cared for him than to see her sad, which made him feel uneasy as well.
"Is it really you, Jin Chengyan?" Jono asked, a hint of disbelief in her voice as she leaned closer to examine him.
Hmm, it really was him.
But seeing that this person was indeed Jin Chengyan only deepened Jono's sorrow. Why was that?
She leaned against Jin Chengyan's embrace, feeling that only in her drunken state could she be so unrestrained with him.
"Jin Chengyan... Ayan..." Her tears soaked his shirt.
She felt so fragile, her back completely exposed; when his hand rested on her skin, it felt icy cold.
"Ayan..." Jono didn't know what to say, but just holding onto him made her heart feel much more at ease.
He hadn't gone to Ruan Shengyu's place; he hadn’t broken his promise.
"Alright, let's go inside. It's too cold out here for you to be dressed like this." Jin Chengyan couldn't resist Jono's insistence but knew they should head back indoors.
She listened to Jin Chengyan and allowed him to carry her into the house. The air conditioning had already been turned on inside; he set Jono down on the sofa and raised the temperature in the living room significantly.
"Ayan..." Jono called out to Jin Chengyan as he headed toward the kitchen. Drunk and vulnerable, she sounded almost on the verge of tears.
Jin Chengyan had no choice but to return to Jono's side. As she held his hand, her sobbing finally ceased.
"Don't leave me, stay with me," Jono said, burying her head in Jin Chengyan's embrace. She disliked the coldness of his jacket, and the lingering scent of Ruan Shengyu on it made her uncomfortable, so she decided to take it off him.
At first, Jin Chengyan resisted; was this woman taking advantage of his drunken state?
However, upon realizing that she merely wanted to remove his jacket, he relented.
Feeling somewhat helpless under her insistence, Jin Chengyan leaned back against the sofa, allowing Jono to curl up on him like a small animal.
"Ayan... just these four years... can you stay by my side? After four years, I won't care who you're with... right now, you're only mine, okay?" Her small hands clutched at Jin Chengyan's chest.
Jin Chengyan remained silent. He couldn't promise another person something he might not be able to fulfill; if he knew he couldn't do it, he shouldn't have offered in the first place.
Not receiving the answer she longed for, Jono continued to scratch at Jin Chengyan's chest, whether in a playful manner or as a form of coaxing. She simply wanted to hear him say those words.
That they would be together for these four years; even if it was a pretense, she would willingly accept it.
But there was nothing. Jin Chengyan wouldn't even say that much to her.
"Not four years... even one year would be fine... or maybe just a month..." She craved that pure kind of love—two people passionately loving each other, and then she could cherish it for a lifetime.
The taste of love she had never experienced with Shen Fengye was something she knew she could find with Jin Chengyan.
She also understood that she wouldn't feel it with anyone else in the future.
So even a month would be enough for her.
Jin Chengyan slightly closed his eyes, feeling Jono's snow-like skin beneath his hand.
He admitted that being with Jono brought him endless joy—a physical pleasure that felt entirely different from what he experienced with Ruan Shengyu.
Hearing her humble words, he felt a pang of sympathy for her.
But it was merely sympathy.
Oh, girl, never invest too much in a man; otherwise, he won't cherish you.
"Jono, you're drunk."
Drunk, yes, Jono was completely intoxicated.
"Heh..." She chuckled lightly. Fine, if Jin Chengyan wanted to dismiss her this way, she could only respond with this awkward laugh.
Her hands rested on his chest as she unbuttoned his shirt one by one. Her delicate fingers touched his heated skin, and she could feel his breath becoming noticeably heavier.
She truly despised this version of herself, having to resort to such means to keep him close. That pure place in his heart would always belong to Ruan Shengyu.
Of course, just a phone call or a text from that person would send him running.
Jono lost track of what step they were on. Had he placed her on him and torn off the dress that Jasper had given her?
Then his phone buzzed. He caught a glimpse of the sender's name and tossed all passion aside. He pushed Jono away and quickly put on his clothes, glancing at Jono, who was now completely undressed.
"I have something urgent to attend to; I need to go." He picked up his suit jacket from the floor and left without looking back.
In the vast room, only Jono remained.
The bright lights illuminated her, exposing every part of her without concealment.
Jono sobered up; her dreams shattered, she smiled.
Wrapping her arms around herself, she rose from the sofa and slowly walked toward her room.
In front of the floor-to-ceiling window stood a woman with an alluring figure, her hair cascading down her back. That lonely silhouette, which should have been immersed in joy, now walked despairingly toward the room.
On the floor, a drop or two of water fell.
Oh no, it wasn't water; it was Jono's tears.

"Why did you leave early? Don't you know that there are Paparazzi following me?" The questioning tone came through the phone to Yan Beiting's ears.
He leaned back in his chair, eyes closed, not responding to Ruan Shengyu's words.
"I'm still at Prosperity; you'd better hurry and come pick me up."
"Go home." Yan Beiting instructed the driver and then spoke to the person on the other end of the line, "I'm not Jin Chengyan, so don't try to boss me around."
The person on the other end fell silent immediately.
"Yan Beiting, why are you so cold to me? Is it wrong to like you?" Ruan Shengyu shouted desperately.
Yan Beiting frowned. "There's nothing wrong with liking me, but if you try to stir up trouble between me and Ayan, I absolutely cannot forgive that. I've been lenient with you until now, not because you're a woman, but because you're someone Ayan cares about. Although I really don't understand why he still holds onto you after all these years! If you have any conscience left, stop tormenting him."
With that, Yan Beiting hung up the phone and tossed it onto the seat.
He couldn't suppress the anger boiling inside him, feeling as though there was nowhere to vent it.
As soon as he closed his eyes, he could think of that incident from six years ago, haunting him like a nightmare.

Jin Chengyan drove out in a car that had been parked at Jin Mansion. He rarely drove this vehicle, so he felt somewhat unfamiliar with it.
He never expected that in the middle of the night, a group of street racers would suddenly burst onto the road. Having played with cars himself, he thought he could handle it and just pass by.
But at that moment, his phone rang. After missing two calls earlier, Jin Chengyan saw the name "Ruan Shengyu" flashing on his screen. He reached over to grab his phone from the passenger seat.
It was then that the racers appeared.
By the time Jin Chengyan noticed them, it was too late.
He could only swerve to the right.
"Bang—" The car crashed into the guardrail.
The sounds of screeching brakes, police sirens, and ringing filled Jin Chengyan's ears.
"Ayan, Ayan! Come save me... I'm scared!" A familiar voice reached Jin Chengyan's ears.
He reached out, trying to grasp something, and then everything went black.
