The Ferris wheel at the amusement park is the largest in Qin Cheng, taking half an hour for a complete rotation!
Jin Chengyan regretted not following Jono when she let go of his hand and got off the Ferris wheel.
Watching her figure gradually fade into the distance, an indescribable sense of anxiety welled up within him.
He took out his phone and called Jono. No matter what, just hearing her voice would be enough; it was the only evidence that she had merely walked away and hadn’t disappeared.
However, the call went unanswered, and the busy tone indicated that Jono was avoiding him.
He dialed Jono's number again and again, realizing he should have sensed something was wrong much earlier.
Jono had pleaded with him to take a few days off work to stay at home, to take care of himself while also making up for the four years they had lost.
He hadn’t thought much of it and had naturally agreed.
In these past few days, she had been treating him well, accommodating his every whim. The once passive woman in bed now put in effort to please him, making it hard for him to resist her charms each time.
They even planned to do things that couples in love would do, with their schedule tightly packed.
Could it be that she only wanted to create beautiful memories before disappearing again?
No, Jin Chengyan refused to believe such an outcome!
But suspended in mid-air, he had no way to come down from there. Was he supposed to fly down?
In the midst of the crowd, Jono walked forward without looking back, tears streaming down her face.
Around her, people were laughing and chatting, but she was shrouded in sadness.
Just moments ago, while on the carousel, Melancholy's daily text message arrived as usual.
It reminded Jono that she only had a few days left to be by Jin Chengyan's side.
She truly had no choice; between Qiao Lovely's health and staying with Jin Chengyan, Jono chose Qiao Lovely.
In this dilemma, Jono opted for the option that would cause less harm.
If she were to stop Melancholy from proceeding with the surgery just to be with Jin Chengyan, then Qiao Lovely would have no chance of survival.
She could not bear to watch Qiao Lovely disappear from this world at such a young age.
As long as she separated from Jin Chengyan, Melancholy agreed to let Jin Chengyan perform the surgery.
Qiao Lovely would not die, and Jin Chengyan could save Qiao Lovely.
It was just that she could no longer be with Jin Chengyan!
In the face of life's choices, Jono gave up her own small interests; she wanted to save Qiao Lovely.
Without consulting Jin Chengyan, and without any way to discuss it, she knew her decision was selfish.
But they had never truly been together, and it didn't matter if they weren't in the future, right?
Yet she had ultimately promised Jin Chengyan that if he and Qiao Lovely were safe, they would remarry.
There was no such thing as remarriage; they had never divorced in the first place.
The moment she saw the marriage certificate, Jono's heart twisted painfully. How could he do this?
She would rather he be a bit more ruthless, rather he treat her as a lover without love, just a physical connection. That way, she could leave more completely!
Seven days—Melancholy had given her seven days to stay by Jin Chengyan's side.
After those seven days, she had to leave him.
Otherwise, Melancholy would use all means necessary to ensure the Qiao Family completely disappeared from Qin Cheng and would have the power to keep Jin Chengyan in the dark about it all.
Jono had tried to leave Jin Chengyan before.
The next day, she had attempted to see if she could truly walk away from him.
When she went out to buy groceries, she thought about not returning, but in the end, even her feet remembered the way home. How could she possibly not go back?
On the third day, she tried again. While he was napping, she gently kissed his eyelids and quietly slipped away.
But looking at his peaceful sleeping face and imagining how he would feel when he woke up in the afternoon to find her gone, she couldn't bring herself to leave.
Today was the fourth day. She deliberately took him to a crowded pedestrian street, to an amusement park.
As the crowd surged around them, she thought that if they were swept apart by the throng, she would just walk away.
However, Jin Chengyan held her hand tightly. No matter how much force he used, it couldn't separate them.
On the carousel, when the horses turned and Jin Chengyan's gaze was no longer on her, Jono's legs moved a few times as if wanting to step away. But in her heart, she thought just one more look, just one more time would be enough.
When the music stopped, she still hadn't gotten off the horse.
She couldn't bear it; she truly couldn't bear it.
It hurt even more than before. She knew being together would bring pain; she knew the road ahead was fraught with difficulties. Yet, she still wanted to hold onto that last warmth.
In front of the Ferris wheel, she released Jin Chengyan's hand and watched him slowly ascend.
This was the moment. If she didn't leave now, after seven days, it would be even harder to part.
They already had pleasant memories together, and for the rest of her life, she could hold onto those memories.
Yet, her heart ached so much.
As she walked down the street, she could even feel the gaze from above the Ferris wheel, belonging to Jin Chengyan.
But she didn’t dare to look back, fearing that if she did, she would be unable to let go and would regret it.
...
As people surged toward the entrance of the Ferris wheel, it became nearly impossible for Jin Chengyan to get out.
He anxiously looked outside, hoping to catch even a glimpse of Jono.
But there was nothing.
Jono wouldn’t do this; you can’t leave!
If you dare to go, I really won’t come looking for you again, absolutely not!
But before you leave, can’t you at least say something? Can’t you not be so silent and unguarded?
“Brother, do you want to buy some flowers?” A girl tugged at Jin Chengyan’s sleeve, looking up at him with curiosity.
Jin Chengyan really wanted to push the little girl aside and go find Jono, but when he looked down and saw her pitiful expression, his heart softened.
She was holding a Flower Basket filled with several roses.
At that moment, he didn't even think about why such a young girl was out selling flowers. He simply pulled out his wallet, took out several bills, and stuffed them into the girl's hands, eager to leave and find Jono.
However, the little girl held onto his clothes and wouldn't let go.
"Brother, you gave me money, so I have to give you the flowers," she said innocently.
With her tugging at his sleeve, Jin Chengyan felt trapped. If he were heartless, he could easily push her away.
Reluctantly, Jin Chengyan took half of the roses from the girl's Flower Basket, hoping to finally leave.
"Brother, you gave me so much money; all these flowers are yours!" The little girl was quite persistent.
Without saying a word, Jin Chengyan took all the remaining flowers from the basket. Now he should be able to go find Jono!
"Brother, a sister told me to take the flowers to the Wishing Well and look for her." The little girl completed her task and skipped away happily.
Jin Chengyan paused for a moment, still pondering the girl's words. The next second, he set off towards the legendary Wishing Well.
It better be Jono; it better be a joke between them. Otherwise, he would truly not forgive her!
Around the wishing well, couples were gathered with children, but Jin Chengyan couldn't see Jono anywhere.
He stood on tiptoe, trying his best to catch a glimpse of Jono in the crowd.
Then, someone tapped him on the shoulder from behind.
For a brief moment, he was stunned, and when he turned around, he saw Jono smiling at him.
He wanted to be angry, even to give her a good scolding for disappearing without a word!
But instead, Jin Chengyan stepped forward and pulled Jono into his arms tightly, as if afraid she would vanish again.
Roses scattered all around them.
But at that moment, did he care about anything else?
As long as Jono was there, the world felt complete.
"From now on, don’t leave without a word again!" Jin Chengyan said, feeling as if he had been reborn after a disaster. "If you leave again, I won’t come looking for you. I won’t. Do you understand?"
Jono hugged him back, burying her head against his chest.
"Okay, next time I leave, you mustn't come looking for me." She emphasized, "You absolutely mustn't."
With this experience, Jin Chengyan directly brought Jono home. If anything went wrong again, he couldn't guarantee that he would be able to bear the consequences.
The first thing Jin Chengyan did after getting home was to carry Jono into the bathroom. After turning on the shower, he quickly stripped both of them of their clothes and then entered her.
He was genuinely a bit angry, so there was no tenderness at all.
They left marks all over the bathroom and throughout the room, only stopping their passionate activities when the sky began to lighten.
It seemed that only at this moment could Jin Chengyan be certain that Jono was truly by his side and would never leave him.
He had never been one to worry about gains and losses, but in front of Jono, he felt like a child.
Perhaps it was because he cared too much that he felt this way.
When he woke up, it was already noon the next day. Jin Chengyan teased Jono again, and this time, he seemed particularly enamored with the tattoo above her chest scar.
To cover that scar, she had chosen to tattoo a phoenix over it, symbolizing rebirth.
He kissed the phoenix repeatedly, as if trying to soothe the wound.
Just as he was preparing to pin Jono down on the bed and keep her there all day, Jono pushed him away and got up to take a shower.
After washing up, Jono had already changed into a light pink dress from the closet. She had applied light makeup and tied her hair up but left a few strands down, looking particularly alluring.
"Are you going out again today?" Jin Chengyan lifted the covers, noticing how Jono was dressed. Was he planning for the two of them to go to a fancy restaurant?
"I have plans tonight, so I can't accompany you," Jono said, ignoring Jin Chengyan's bare body.
Was he doing it on purpose? Did he not realize how good his physique was?
Moreover, that area was slightly prominent, hinting at his boundless energy.
"A date? With whom? Why didn't you tell me? What time will you be back? Should I pick you up? Dressed so beautifully, do you know that I want to rip that dress off you right now, hmm?" He teased Jono, being straightforward and unabashed.
Jono pushed his hand away and tried to distance himself from Jin Chengyan's heated body.
"Mr. Jin, aren't you asking too many questions?"
"Mrs. Jin, you're a married woman now. Going out looking so stunning makes me uneasy." His hand rested on her waist, moving up and down.
Jono gasped, finding him too tempting.
"Alright, stop it. I really have someone to meet and will be back later," Jono said firmly as he pushed Jin Chengyan's hand away.
"I'll wait for your return," Jin Chengyan replied, slightly restraining himself. Perhaps Jono really did have something important to attend to!
To be honest, he wasn't the type to cling endlessly; he wouldn't pry into who Jono was meeting. Everyone deserves a bit of privacy, after all.
Jin Chengyan felt a light kiss on his cheek from Jono before he turned and left.
Left alone in the empty room, Jin Chengyan could only return to bed, intending to continue sleeping.
However, the bed was filled with Jono's scent, and without Jono by his side, he simply couldn't fall asleep.
After tossing and turning for a while, he finally got up and took a shower, noticing some marks on his back where Jono had grabbed him.
He recalled how from yesterday until this morning, it seemed as if they both felt there might not be another chance. They had poured all their strength into loving each other, and he always found immense satisfaction in Jono.
After showering and changing clothes, he ate something and prepared to head to the study to handle some documents. After all, he hadn't been to work for several days, and the Jin Family's affairs couldn't be neglected.
As he carried a cup of tea past the bedroom toward the study, he heard the persistent sound of text messages coming from inside the room.
Thinking it was his own phone, he walked in and looked around. His phone was on the bedside table with a black screen, yet the message notifications continued to chime.
Was it Jono's? Did she forget her phone?
He carefully scanned the room and discovered Jono's phone lying beneath a pillow. He smiled at Jono's absent-mindedness and was about to turn off the phone when a WeChat message came through from Xi Yisheng.
What kind of ridiculous note was this: Yisheng, a lifetime!
Jin Chengyan nearly threw his phone into the trash upon seeing those words.
However, the content on WeChat left Jin Chengyan astonished.
"I've arrived at the hotel. How much longer until you get here?"
"Still with Jin Chengyan? Can't break free?"
"It's fine, no rush. I'll wait for you."
"Faye, why haven't you come yet?"
"Are you coming today?"
The first message was from nine in the morning, when he and Jono had just finished a workout. She went to the restroom, seemingly with her phone in hand, and replied that she would be free soon.
Break free!?
Leaving his side meant breaking free?
After that, Jono didn't reply to Xi Yisheng anymore; it was only Jin Chengyan sending messages unilaterally.
But Jin Chengyan already knew that this matter was not so simple.
Was Jono seeing Xi Yisheng behind his back?
"Ha, are you kidding me?"
Without a moment's hesitation, he grabbed Jono's phone and the car keys, rushing out of Jin Mansion.
Driving at breakneck speed, Jin Chengyan headed straight to the hotel that Xi Yisheng mentioned. What kind of date was supposed to happen in a hotel?
Xi Yisheng had been taking care of Jono for four years; how could he possibly allow them to be alone together?
Going to the hotel didn't mean heading to a room—were they just going to sit downstairs and have coffee?
As he approached the front desk, Jin Chengyan exuded an air of authority, despite wearing loungewear and having not even bothered to fix his hair.
"Find out which room Xi Yisheng booked," he demanded. If Xi Yisheng was intentionally provoking him or just happened to choose a hotel owned by the Jin Family, it didn't matter.
The receptionist, taken aback by Jin Chengyan's imposing demeanor, quickly searched for Xi Yisheng's name on the computer.
Before long, she found it in the records.
"Sir, he's in Room 1888."
"Room card," he said, extending his hand without any intention of waiting.
The receptionist promptly handed the room card to Jin Chengyan.
He turned and walked toward the elevator, holding the room card in his hand.
The elevator went straight to the 18th floor. The quiet corridor was empty, and he even knew exactly where Room 1888 was located.
But at that moment, Jin Chengyan stopped in his tracks.
What if, upon opening the door, he found Jono and Xi Yisheng engaged in something inappropriate? What should he do then? Should he give up all hope for Jono? Should he completely walk away from her?
But what if Jono simply wanted to clarify things with Xi Yisheng and make it clear that they would no longer have any dealings with each other? His sudden appearance might make Jono feel that he didn’t trust her.
No matter what the outcome, Jin Chengyan felt he couldn’t accept it.
Once again, when it came to Jono, Jin Chengyan found himself at a loss.
Yet his feet still unconsciously brought him to the door of Room 1888. Just a door away, he had the room card; getting in would be effortless.
Should he go in or not? At that moment, Hengyang felt he was facing a tremendous challenge.
If he didn’t go in, he would always harbor doubts about Jono. What could possibly be so important that it couldn’t be discussed openly and had to be done in a hotel room?
But if he did go in? His relationship with Jono would surely deteriorate immediately, but at least he would know exactly what was happening inside.
Just as he was about to slide the card into the lock, his phone rang.
Jono's phone rang.
It was a call from Xi Yisheng.
But weren’t they inside? Why was Xi Yisheng calling Jono?
However, she had set a song as her ringtone, and if he guessed correctly, the person inside should have heard the sound from outside.
He hesitated. After a brief moment of contemplation, he quickly walked to the end of the corridor, turned around, and stood behind the wall, pressing his body against it, not daring to look at what lay beyond the open door.
He and Jono had finally gotten together after four long years; this was a beautiful time he had dreamed of. If he stepped out now, would everything be ruined?
A husband tracking his wife to a hotel only to find her with another man—who could swallow that bitterness?
"I think I heard my phone ringing," Jono's voice came through.
"No way, you must have misheard?" Xi Yisheng replied.
Jin Chengyan had already silenced Jono's phone.
"I remember bringing my phone with me, but I can't seem to find it," which was why he had used Xi Yisheng's phone to call.
Jin Chengyan couldn't help but slightly lean out, and he saw that Jono was no longer wearing her soft pink dress but instead donned a bathrobe.
Xi Yisheng was also in a bathrobe, with slightly damp hair, as if she had just taken a shower.
This scene made Jin Chengyan's blood boil.
Sure, he could understand that Jono and Xi Yisheng had some excuse to meet in the hotel, but he couldn't comprehend why they needed to change into hotel bathrobes for their discussion!
“Jono.” Jin Chengyan stepped forward. If he didn't confront them now, when would he?
Was he really going to wait until Jono put the green hat on him before saying anything?
Jono had initially planned to enter the room with Xi Yisheng, but upon hearing Jin Chengyan's voice, she froze for a moment. She should have anticipated that Jin Chengyan would come.
To make the situation even more convincing, she had even asked Xi Yisheng to call him!
The sound of the phone ringing echoed from outside the door; he had arrived. It was unclear how long he had been there, but he hadn't entered yet.
At this moment, he finally faced everything head-on and called out to her.
Jono and Xi Yisheng turned simultaneously to see Jin Chengyan walking toward them from the end of the corridor.
It felt like a battle was about to erupt.
But in reality, all three of them remained unusually calm.
"Explain," he said, staring directly at Jono. If she could come up with a plausible story, like how they accidentally spilled juice in the hotel room and had to change clothes, he would listen.
"There’s nothing to explain; it’s exactly what you see," Jono replied nonchalantly.
Jin Chengyan's eyes turned red with anger. What kind of international joke was Jono playing?
"Do you even know what you're doing?"
"Why wouldn't I?" Jono stepped forward and snatched her phone from Jin Chengyan's hand. "Do you know what it feels like to be heartbroken, to be hurt deeply by the one you love, yet feel powerless to fight back?"
He was speechless, just looking at Jono.
"I know you're wondering why I still want to be with you, why I built so many beautiful memories with you, right?" Jono countered. "It's because only by making you fall deeply in love with me can I then kick you away and make you understand the pain I went through."
Cold and indifferent as she was, every word from Jono felt like a sharp knife stabbing straight into Jin Chengyan's heart.
