A few people were momentarily stunned. However, Third had an inkling; even beasts desired this thing. Sighing inwardly at the thought, he felt a sense of resignation. 0

The wolf pack continued to relentlessly pursue the two. 0

Meanwhile, the three who remained in place were still in a daze. Second exclaimed, "What the hell is going on? Strange things keep happening here." 0

Seven reminded him, "Second, stop daydreaming. We should hunt down Alpha Wolf now." 0

Upon hearing this, Second immediately straightened up; this was a matter of life and death, and they couldn't afford to be careless. He said, " Er Gou, you go for a sneak attack. Seven and I will engage it head-on." 0

They had likely run low on bullets; it was time for close combat. Second and Seven exchanged glances. Wang Er Gou tightened his grip on his gun, realizing he probably didn't have many bullets left. 0

Seven and Second quickened their pace forward, while Alpha Wolf seemed oblivious to them, its gaze fixed on the other two as if it didn't regard these three at all. 0

Second and Seven couldn't afford to think too much; they had to act now. Time was of the essence—every second counted. 0

Seven noticed Alpha Wolf's posture and warned Second, "Be careful! That Alpha Wolf seems off!" 0

Second nodded in agreement. 0

Sure enough, as the two approached Wolf King, seven or eight more Alpha Wolves emerged from the surroundings, quickly surrounding them. Both Second and Seven had already sustained injuries from their earlier fight with the pack. 0

These wolves seemed to have caught the scent of blood; each one appeared excited. 0

Alpha Wolf crouched there motionless but then turned its head to look in their direction. A glimmer of amusement seemed to flash in its eyes. Second caught that look and cursed, "How arrogant for a mere beast!" 0

It was as if Alpha Wolf understood his words; it immediately let out an angry roar, and seven or eight strong male wolves lunged at them. The two swiftly dodged this attack. 0

The wolf pack, having failed once, was filled with rage. Wolves are inherently proud creatures, and their nature does not allow for failure. Thus, they gathered their strength and charged again. 0

With a swift thrust and pull of the dagger, one Alpha Wolf fell to the ground, howling in pain. Of course, Second was also injured; while dodging this Alpha Wolf, another wolf had clawed at his face. 0

Although Seven had also taken down an Alpha Wolf, his situation was not much better. "These wolves seem to know the vital points of humans!" Seven shouted. Second replied, "It seems these beasts have committed many heinous acts! Today can be considered a service to the people." 0

Both of them displayed commendable military skills, their ability to remain calm under pressure evident at that moment. 0

As it appeared that seven or eight wolves were about to be taken down, the Alpha Wolf began to stir uneasily, letting out a series of howls, likely rallying the pack. 0

"This must be the Wolf King's 'guard unit.'" 0

Four wolves had already fallen, and the remaining ones began to show signs of fear, hesitant to charge again. Second and Seven were nearly exhausted; after such a prolonged battle, they were likely at their limits. 0

However, at this moment, showing weakness would surely lead to death without burial. 0

The wolf pack no longer acted with reckless abandon. Instead, they cautiously extended their claws. In their minds, humans were weak; they had never encountered a strong opponent before. Thus, deep down, they still held contempt for humans. 0

At that moment, the moon hung high in the sky. The Alpha Wolf seemed enveloped by its light as it began to howl at the moon. One Alpha Wolf glanced back at another Alpha Wolf and then looked at Second and Seven. 0

Second and Seven were now covered in blood—both theirs and that of the wolves. The Alpha Wolf's eyes revealed a hint of fear; finally, it turned tail and fled. The other two wolves followed suit upon seeing their companion escape. 0

The two men were just about to breathe a sigh of relief when suddenly they felt a shadow pass by. In an instant, all three fleeing Alpha Wolves collapsed into pools of blood. 0

It wasn't until the last Alpha Wolf stood before them that they finally reacted. They were utterly stunned! 0

The thought crossed both of their minds: how could it be this powerful? Wang Er Gou was probably no exception. 0

Second and Seven began to sweat nervously. Their legs felt a bit weak; they had originally intended for this Alpha Wolf to be just a decoration, but it turned out to be incredibly formidable. 0

The Alpha Wolf stared at the two of them, seemingly unable to gauge their intentions. 0

"Damn it! How cruel, even attacking its own kind," Second muttered. Seven, feeling uncertain, asked, "What do we do now?" Second forced himself to stay calm and replied, "Don't panic! Let's assess the situation!" 0

The Alpha Wolf slowly shifted its stance, prompting Second and Seven to take a step back. It was just like what their old sergeant used to say: if the enemy doesn't move, I won't move; if the enemy moves, I run! But now, running would surely lead to death. 0

Seeing the two step back, the Alpha Wolf moved one of its paws. 0

Seven said, "It's trying to play mind games with us." Second wiped his sweat and said, "Let's go! We can't just sit here and wait for death." This time, they decided to take a step forward instead. 0

The Alpha Wolf paused for a moment, clearly having its own reservations. They had figured out the Alpha Wolf's tactics. Second cursed, "This beast is really playing mind games with us!" 0

With newfound confidence, they took another step forward, expecting the Wolf King to retreat again. What they didn't anticipate was that this time the Wolf King lunged at them without any warning, aiming for their throats in a deadly strike. 0

However, they were not so easily caught off guard. It seemed to be targeting Seven, so he dodged swiftly while Second overlooked his own escape. Unexpectedly, the Alpha Wolf changed direction mid-air and pounced on Second instead. Caught off guard, Second was knocked to the ground and instinctively raised his hands to block the Wolf King's legs. 0

To an outsider, it looked like he had successfully blocked it; only he knew how immense the pressure was. The strength of this Alpha Wolf was overwhelming. As its fangs approached Second's neck, Seven wanted to help but time was not on their side. 0

In that instant, Second made a judgment: brute force would not work; he needed to use cunning. With the white fangs nearly touching his neck and a foul stench wafting from the wolf's mouth making him dizzy, saliva dripped down onto his neck. 0

Second relaxed his grip suddenly; the Wolf King did not expect this move and was caught off guard. It stumbled forward as Second kicked it hard in the belly, sending it flying away. 0

Second quickly rolled over and got back on his feet. Wiping away the drool from his neck in anger, he shouted, "You beast! How dare you ride on top of me!" 0

The Wolf King seemed to feel a deep humiliation, letting out a series of furious howls. Its hind claws dug into the ground, clearly preparing for a second attack. 0

"This Alpha Wolf is too cunning," Seven said. "We need to finish this quickly, or we'll be worn down here." 0

"Be careful," Second replied. "This guy has too many tricks up his sleeve. Plus, he keeps using us as shields to avoid Wang Er Gou's gunfire." 0

"Today, I will definitely take you down," Second declared, taking off his pack and tossing it to the ground. He pulled out a shovel from inside. The reason he hadn't taken it out earlier was that he was worried about a sneak attack from the wolf pack behind them, but now with two against one, he felt confident. 0

Second tucked a dagger into his waistband and wielded the shovel as his main weapon. 0

With determined strides, Second advanced, ready to fight. As the saying goes, "In a narrow path, the brave prevail! Whoever dares to draw their sword is the strong one; even if they fall under the enemy's blade, they die with honor!" 0

The Wolf King also had its own sense of dignity and honor. Seeing its enemy approach boldly, it refused to back down. 0

Seven also dropped his pack and followed suit. After shedding the weight, he felt lighter and moved forward. 0

In terms of speed, the two could not match the Wolf King, but they had no choice but to confront it head-on to prevent its charge. 0

Second shouted as the Wolf King lunged at him. He swung the shovel and struck the Wolf King's paw. The creature yelped in pain and fell to the ground, panting heavily as Second pressed forward. 0

The Wolf King glanced at Seven, likely perceiving him as the weaker opponent, and lunged at him without hesitation. Seven was caught off guard and was knocked to the ground as if there were no obstacles in its way. 0

Seeing this, Second rushed over to help. But just then, the Wolf King let out a pained howl and slashed at Seven's clothing with its claws, breaking through to his skin. 0

With a powerful jerk, the Wolf King freed itself from Seven's grasp and retreated a few steps. Blood began to ooze from a wound it had sustained from Alpha Wolf's dagger as it licked its own injury. 0

Second hurried over to help Seven up. The injuries were serious; a chunk of flesh had been torn away by the Wolf King's claws. Fortunately, it wasn't a large area, and Seven gritted his teeth in silence, refusing to cry out in pain. 0

Seeing Seven's wounds, the anger within him intensified. He shot a glance at Alpha Wolf, vowing to end him today. 0

Wolf King sensed the danger he was in and began to howl. It was a call for help, and soon enough, the pack that had chased Third and Li Shengma came rushing back, desperate and frantic. 0

Just then, a sudden gunshot rang out, cutting through the chaos. Several more shots followed, and Wolf King collapsed into a pool of blood, his life extinguished. 0

The pack, witnessing their Alpha Wolf fall in front of them, halted in their tracks. An oppressive anger simmered among them. 0

"No way! Didn't they say that killing Wolf King would solve everything?" Wang Er Gou exclaimed. 0

Yet the wolves showed no signs of retreat; instead, they seemed poised to attack. The standoff continued until suddenly, Wolf King's body twitched. 0

The pack began to stir restlessly. One Alpha Wolf timidly pushed forward but then quickly accelerated. The three prepared for an assault, only to be taken aback as this Alpha Wolf completely disregarded them. 0

It lunged at Wolf King, sinking its teeth into his throat, ensuring that Wolf King's life was definitively over. 0

The wolf that had killed Alpha Wolf let out a triumphant howl before retreating, and soon all the wolves followed suit. Once the last of them vanished from sight, the group let out a collective sigh of relief, only to feel a tightening in their chests as they realized that the new Wolf King had returned. 0
