"What a beautiful woman, yet her heart is so venomous. It's truly a waste of such a lovely appearance."
"The term 'femme fatale' must refer to her; she looks pure on the outside, but behind the scenes, she's so vile."
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and take her away!"
The police escorted me into the operating room.
Fu Jing stood nearby, a barely noticeable smile flickering across his face.
"Officer, my feelings for Zhao Yuan have long since faded. I won't plead for her."
"I only hope you can bring justice for my mother, allowing her to rest in peace beneath the earth."
The officer glanced at him and asked, "Zhao Yuan is pregnant. Is the child yours?"
Fu Jing's expression changed instantly, and he replied angrily, "She's carrying a bastard; I will not keep this illegitimate child."
"Officer, please enforce the law fairly and do not let any guilty person go free."
With that, he signed the surgical consent form.
He had just condemned his own child to death.
Yet I felt an overwhelming sense of anticipation for this unborn child.
When I woke up again, I had been moved to a hospital room.
Voices from the police questioning could be heard outside the corridor.
I reached down to touch my abdomen; it was already flat.
My child was gone.
A hurried sound of footsteps echoed from the entrance.
I looked up, a hint of panic flashing in my eyes.
Why are my parents here? They shouldn't be at the hospital; this is Fu Jing's scheme. In my previous life, my pregnancy had remained a secret from my family, but this time it was exposed publicly. Fu Jing's intention was clear: he wanted to create a scandal and resolve it quickly. Who called my parents here? Without a doubt, it was Fu Jing. How cruel of him! He hated me to the core, willing to direct his anger at my parents to drag them into this mess.
"Mom, Dad, why are you here?" I struggled to sit up, wanting to get out of bed to greet them. But my parents stood frozen in place, staring at me without moving. Their expressions were complex, leaving me unable to decipher their thoughts.
I cautiously spoke up, "Mom, Dad, please let me explain. It's not what you think."
"What do you mean it's not what we think? You're on television now, you're all over the internet! Zhao Yuan, you're really something!" My mother pointed an accusing finger at me, her face filled with hatred as she clearly believed I was the kind of vicious woman portrayed on screen.
My father's expression was equally grim. He trembled with rage, raising his hand as if he wanted to slap me.
At that moment, a group of reporters suddenly burst in. They began snapping photos of my hospital room without regard for anyone else present. The police tried to intervene, but they were completely ineffective. The cameras of the live stream followed closely behind, broadcasting the chaotic scene in the room to everyone.
The reporters relentlessly took pictures of me, their voices filled with outrage as they accused me. " malicious woman, you malicious woman!" one shouted. "You dare to kill your own mother-in-law; what else wouldn't you do?" another yelled. "A woman like you deserves to be tortured and sent to the depths of hell!"
They directed their fury at my parents, snapping photos and hurling insults. "You old fools, look at the good daughter you raised—she's killed her own mother-in-law!" one reporter spat. "Your whole family is worthless, a nest of snakes and rats, all scum of society!"
The hospital room descended into chaos. Rotten vegetables and foul eggs were thrown at my parents, filling the air with a putrid stench. I lay helplessly in bed, watching everything unfold. My parents were innocent; they shouldn't have been dragged into this mess. Yet I found myself unable to utter a single word in defense.
