Unfortunately, he no longer needed it. He used to love wearing suits, but that was because Fang Hui liked them. He wanted to fit into Fang Hui's circle, so he dressed accordingly. However, now he preferred a more relaxed and convenient style.
Xiao Yang put the suit away without giving it a second glance. His mentor and the team members surrounded him and quickly helped him into the car. While in the car, Xiao Yang heard on the radio that Fang Hui's studio was launching a new product. This new release was related to archaeology and featured a collaborative clothing line. Fang Hui had even rented out a large screen in the city center for a live broadcast, publicly declaring his feelings for Xiao Yang.
"Xiao Yang is my outstanding boyfriend; he works in archaeology..."
Hearing these words made Xiao Yang furrow his brow. Fang Hui's actions undoubtedly thrust him and the research institute into the public eye. They were engaged in archaeological research, not celebrity work; they didn't need this kind of exposure.
Before Xiao Yang could speak, his mentor chimed in. "Xiao Yang, you need to handle this situation well. You can't let this public opinion affect the normal operations of the institute."
"I understand," Xiao Yang nodded. "I'll go talk to her and clarify things."
Not daring to delay, Xiao Yang sought out Fang Hui that very afternoon. When he arrived, Fang Hui was eagerly holding a bouquet of flowers and a wedding ring.
"Xiao Yang, you finally agreed to see me," Fang Hui said with a beaming smile. "Will you forgive me?"
"No," Xiao Yang replied firmly. "Fang Hui, please don't bring me into your topics anymore; my workplace has been affected."
"What?" Fang Hui was taken aback. "You came to find me just to say this?"
"Yes," Xiao Yang nodded. "I don't want to see any news about me anymore."
Upon hearing this, Fang Hui's expression darkened instantly.
"So you came to tell me to stop bothering you?"
"Yes," Xiao Yang admitted without hesitation.
Fang Hui smiled and nodded. "Alright, I understand."
"Xiao Yang, I won't give up on you. Just wait, I will definitely bring you back to my side."
Xiao Yang said nothing and simply walked away. He couldn't be bothered to waste words with Fang Hui.
As Xiao Yang and his junior sister Wang Peiqi stepped out of the building, a car suddenly sped over from the roadside.
Xiao Yang's expression changed; he instinctively shielded Wang Peiqi behind him.
The car stopped in front of them, and the window slowly rolled down, revealing Wei Zheng's face.
"Xiao Yang, go die," Wei Zheng spat viciously. "If you're dead, Fang Hui can come back to me."
"You've lost your mind," Xiao Yang replied coldly. "This is a sidewalk; do you dare to run someone over here?"
"So what?" Wei Zheng sneered. "As long as it brings Fang Hui back to me, I don't care if I end up in jail."
"You're insane," Xiao Yang said with disgust.
"That's right, I'm insane," Wei Zheng laughed maniacally. "I love Fang Hui so much, yet she loves you, that scumbag."
"What makes you better than me? Why should she love you instead of me?"
"That's exactly why you can't keep her." Xiao Yang replied coldly. "Because you're simply not worth loving."
"Shut up!" Wei Zheng was enraged; he slammed on the gas and drove straight toward Xiao Yang.
Xiao Yang's expression changed again; he instinctively pushed Wang Peiqi aside and dodged to the side.
At that moment, a white Mercedes suddenly came barreling in and crashed into Wei Zheng's car.
Wei Zheng was thrown out of the guardrail after the collision. The white Mercedes was also heavily damaged. Xiao Yang looked at the car, his brow slightly furrowed. The person inside was Fang Hui. Soon, both an ambulance and a police car arrived. Wei Zheng and Fang Hui were taken to the hospital. Wei Zheng was charged with attempted murder and sentenced to twenty years in prison. Fang Hui's injuries were more severe; both of her hands were fractured, and she might never be able to pick up a paintbrush to design again.
Once everything settled down, Xiao Yang heard about the next archaeological project that required them to go abroad. He and his team members were very excited, looking forward to the upcoming work. They prepared to set off.
