In the dead of night, Sunshine Villa was enveloped in silence. A black sedan slowly drove into the neighborhood and came to a stop in front of the villa. Bo Jingtian sat in the back seat, engaged in a video conference on his laptop. His expression was stern, with a hint of fatigue evident between his brows. He spoke fluent English, elegant, deep, and pleasant to the ear, yet laced with an undeniable authority.
"Yes, we will proceed with this plan for the project..."
Li Ming glanced at Bo Jingtian through the rearview mirror, waiting quietly. After about ten minutes, Bo Jingtian finally closed his laptop.
"Boss, we're home," Li Ming reminded him.
Bo Jingtian nodded and opened the car door to step out. Uncle Luo was already waiting inside.
"Young Master, you’re back," Uncle Luo said as he took the laptop from Bo Jingtian's hands.
"Uncle Luo, I’m a quarter of an hour late today," Bo Jingtian said, rubbing his brow with a hint of helplessness. "There have been many projects lately, so my return time has been unpredictable."
"You’ve worked hard, Young Master," Uncle Luo said with concern. "I’ve brewed some Health Tea for you; please have a little."
Bo Jingtian nodded, sitting down on the sofa. He picked up the teacup from the table and took a sip.
"It tastes good," Bo Jingtian remarked appreciatively.
"I’m glad you like it," Uncle Luo replied with a smile.
"What did Su Xiaoxiao do today?" Bo Jingtian casually asked.
"The Madam went shopping today and bought some things; she spent the rest of her time at home," Uncle Luo reported honestly.
"Mm." Bo Jingtian responded lightly.
"Oh, the Madam also mentioned that she enjoys fishing. If possible, you might consider getting her a complete set of fishing gear; she would surely be very happy," Uncle Luo suggested.
"Fishing?" Bo Jingtian raised an eyebrow slightly. "She likes fishing?"
"Yes," Uncle Luo nodded.
"Alright, I’ll remember that," Bo Jingtian said as he nodded again.
After finishing his tea, Bo Jingtian stood up and walked toward the stairs. I lay in bed, drowsily half-asleep when I heard the sound of a car coming from downstairs. I opened my eyes and glanced at the wall clock; it was already half past ten.
Who could it be at this late hour? I turned over, intending to go back to sleep. However, my ears perked up involuntarily. I heard footsteps downstairs along with voices speaking.
It seemed that Bo Jingtian had returned.
I lay in bed, hesitating about whether to get up. After all, he was my husband, and he was home. It felt somewhat impolite not to go down and greet him. However, I was also worried about interrupting his work.
After a moment of inner conflict, I finally decided to get up. I dressed neatly and walked out of the bedroom, heading to the staircase.
I saw Bo Jingtian sitting on the sofa in the living room, sipping tea. He was wearing a black suit, his hair meticulously styled, and he appeared focused on the documents in his hands.
"You’re back," I said softly as I approached the sofa.
"Mm." Bo Jingtian glanced up at me briefly and replied lightly.
"Did I wake you?" he asked.
"Yes," I nodded.
"I'm sorry; I usually finish work around this time," he said apologetically.
"It's fine; I sleep well and it doesn't affect me," I quickly replied.
Bo Jingtian looked at me intently and asked, "You’re not upset that I woke you, are you?"
"Of course not," I shook my head.
"That's good," he smiled. "If it bothers you, we can add soundproofing to the bedroom."
"No need; my sleep quality is very good, so it won't be a problem," I hurriedly said.
"Alright then," Bo Jingtian smiled again.
I was a bit surprised. This was the first time I had seen Bo Jingtian smile. His smile was charming, warm like jade, reminiscent of sunlight in spring, giving off a very comfortable feeling.
"You..." I wanted to say something but suddenly realized that we were not very familiar with each other. If I asked too many questions, it might raise his suspicions. So, I swallowed my words back down.
"What’s wrong?" Bo Jingtian noticed my hesitation and asked curiously.
"Nothing... nothing at all," I shook my head.
"That's good," he smiled again.
"Well, you carry on with your work; I'll head back to my room," I said.
"Okay," Bo Jingtian nodded.
I turned and walked towards the stairs. Once back in my room, I closed the door and leaned against it, taking a few deep breaths to calm myself down.
Phew, that scared me. Fortunately, I reacted quickly; otherwise, I would have been exposed. I patted my chest, reassured myself, then took off my shoes and climbed into bed.
The next day, I didn't wake up until noon. After freshening up, I walked to the mirror.
In the reflection was a delicate face with fair skin, sparkling eyes, a high nose bridge, and cherry-like lips—flawless. This was the result of the skincare and makeup products I had splurged on yesterday, spending thousands. I had to admit that these products worked wonders. The current me was like a different person compared to the one with a sallow complexion, rough skin, and a face full of freckles.
I admired my beautiful appearance and felt a surge of joy within. Starting today, I would work hard to change myself, to become even more beautiful and graceful! I wanted Bo Jingtian to not recognize me at all!
Clenching my fists, I silently vowed. I opened the door and stepped outside.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw two maids standing at the entrance, staring at me in astonishment.
"Madam, you..." one of the maids said in shock, stammering.
"What’s wrong?" I blinked in confusion at them.
"You... you look so beautiful," the other maid exclaimed in admiration.
"Thank you," I smiled back.
"Madam, we are here to help you get dressed," one of the maids said.
"Help me get dressed?" I was taken aback for a moment.
"Yes," both maids nodded and then opened the wardrobe door.
I was instantly stunned. Inside the wardrobe hung an array of clothes—dresses, pants, scarves...
All of these garments were from international luxury brands, featuring various styles and colors that dazzled the eyes.
"Madam, which one do you like? We can help you coordinate," one maid offered.
"All of these... are they all mine?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yes," the maid nodded. "Young Master instructed us to prepare all styles for you."
"All styles?" My eyes widened in surprise.
"Yes," the maid confirmed with a nod.
I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the excitement and joy bubbling within me. This was simply paradise. I had never imagined that I could live such a life!
"Madam, which one do you like?" the maid asked again.
"This one, this one, this one..." I pointed out five or six pieces in one breath, then excitedly said, "Hurry up and help me change into them."
"Of course." The two maids nodded and helped me change into the clothes.
"Madam, you look truly beautiful," one of the maids said as she looked at me, unable to hold back her praise.
"Thank you," I smiled.
Wearing my new outfit, I walked downstairs. In the living room, Bo Jingtian was reading the newspaper.
Hearing the noise, he looked up and paused for a moment upon seeing me.
"What’s wrong?" I walked over to him and asked curiously.
"Nothing... nothing at all." Bo Jingtian snapped back to reality and smiled. "You look really beautiful today."
"Thank you," I replied with a smile.
"Breakfast is ready; let's eat," Bo Jingtian said.
"Mm." I nodded and walked over to the dining table, taking a seat.
Looking at the sumptuous breakfast spread before me, my appetite surged.
"Bo Jingtian, you really are impressive," I said sincerely.
"Oh?" Bo Jingtian raised an eyebrow, looking at me in confusion.
"To have such a vast estate at such a young age is truly remarkable," I said earnestly.
At my words, Bo Jingtian chuckled lightly.
"That's nothing," he replied nonchalantly.
"It may not be much to you, but it's quite an achievement for me," I sighed and said.
