After some time, Lin Yuan finally summarized the most efficient jumping method. With this technique, he could jump over one meter each time, and when in optimal condition, he could even reach around one and a half meters. As for the distance of his jumps, it consistently remained around two meters.
Each jump took about three seconds, achieving a speed of four kilometers per hour, and he was no longer restricted by terrain. Compared to before, this was a remarkable improvement.
"Ding! You have mastered the Double Jump Skill. Speed increased; using it in combat will increase damage by a certain percentage and grant a 5% chance to deal critical damage at 100%."
"Haha!" Upon seeing this sudden notification, Lin Yuan was so excited that he nearly flipped over. This was almost equivalent to Combat Skills! It seemed his earlier speculation was correct; the skills of the Mechanical Warrior likely required self-realization or activation through certain conditions.
Lin Yuan glanced at his attribute information again, and sure enough, changes had occurred.
"Level F1 Melee Mechanized Warrior, Intelligence Level 7, Intellect and Mechanical Body fusion degree 6%."
"Vitality 00/00, Energy 5/00."
"Basic Attributes: Attack Power 045, Defense Power 045, average Enhancement Level 045, Movement Speed 445, Auditory Radar Level 1 with a precise coverage distance of meters, generating a three-dimensional projection every second."
"Basic Skills: Self-Repair, Level (Skill can slightly repair some unimportant Parts)."
"Basic Skills: None. Double Jump: Speed increased; using it in combat will increase damage by a certain percentage and grant a 5% chance to deal critical damage at 100%."
"Combat Skills: None."
"Wahaha! The fusion degree of Intellect and Mechanical Body has actually increased by 16%! This is great news. If I continue training without interruption, this fusion degree might just reach one hundred percent. Hehe! Wouldn't that mean becoming one with the machine?"
After envisioning a bright future in his mind, Lin Yuan bounced out of the Underground Warehouse.
Once again surveying the ruins around him, Lin Yuan's mindset had long since shed its earlier sense of lamentation. However, out of caution, he did not immediately test the effects of his rabbit-like jumps. Instead, he crouched behind a massive concrete block, using his Auditory Radar to carefully scan the area within a fifty-meter radius.
After several minutes and nearly a hundred holographic projections later, Lin Yuan finally confirmed that this area was quite safe. Of course, another benefit was that he had memorized all the terrain in this region and could easily select the most convenient and quickest route for entry and exit.
"How strange! My soul seems to be increasingly suited to becoming an Intellect. I can handle such complex matters in such a short time! If it were a human, only those who have received professional training could accomplish this!" Lin Yuan thought to himself, feeling quite pleased. He was even unaware that he had begun to unconsciously embrace the role of a Mechanical Warrior.
With a thought, Lin Yuan propelled his body forward, bouncing off the ground upon landing. His current mission was to search the area centered around the Underground Warehouse within a five-hundred-meter radius.
This area would serve as his safety perimeter, so he needed to process all the terrain and then choose several of the most convenient routes. If necessary, he would also need to set up a few cover points, all to prevent any hostile targets from appearing.
"All clear ahead! I’ve spotted three machines; their damage level is under thirty percent. They should be human-made, but I wonder if they still have any energy left?" Lin Yuan murmured to himself. He was currently fifteen meters northwest of the Underground Warehouse, while the targets he had discovered were right in front of him.
However, that location was on high ground, with normal visibility estimated to reach about one thousand meters. This meant that if there were any hostile targets within this range, climbing up to that high ground would significantly increase his chances of being detected.
Yet Lin Yuan felt compelled to take this risk because during his previous searches, he had encountered dozens of human-made machines, all with damage levels exceeding eighty percent and no residual energy whatsoever.
But those three machines on the high ground showed little damage, which indicated a strong possibility that they still contained energy.
"Here we go!" Lin Yuan steeled himself and stealthily made his way toward the high ground.
"Everything is normal within fifty meters ahead!"
"Left side is normal!"
"Right side is normal!"
Lin Yuan cautiously approached the three oddly shaped machines, continuously scanning the surroundings with his Auditory Radar.
"Everything seems fine!" After a few minutes, Lin Yuan finally got closer to the machines, but just as he was about to relax, an inexplicable chill surged deep within his soul.
At the same time, a flashing message appeared: "Warning! Warning! You have been locked on. Please prepare for combat!"
This sudden turn of events left Lin Yuan stunned. Although he had considered what to do when encountering hostile targets, he never expected the battle would come so swiftly! His prepared countermeasures were rendered useless at this moment because he had no idea where the enemy was.
"Whoosh!" A faint sound echoed, and Lin Yuan's Auditory Radar only caught a glimpse of a red light. Before he could react, a tremendous force sent him tumbling several times, causing his Health Points to drop by 1.
Fortunately, the red light struck his two redundant wheels, so despite being covered in dirt and dust, his basic mobility and attack capabilities remained intact.
"Run!" Waking up from his daze, Lin Yuan didn't have time to check where the attack came from or rely on the terrain for a counterattack. Using the momentum from his roll, he pushed off with his Mechanical Arms against the rubble and bounced down from the High Ground.
Now, he needed to rush back to the Underground Warehouse as quickly as possible because it was clear that the enemy possessed long-range strike capabilities. To make matters worse, his Auditory Radar couldn't detect their position at all; they were attacking from fifty meters away. Thus, he could only rely on the narrow terrain of the Underground Warehouse and the two barriers he had set up earlier to engage with them.
At this moment, Lin Yuan felt like a frightened rabbit desperately fleeing for its life. If he hadn't already calculated the best escape route beforehand, he might have ended up in a mechanical version of a classic trap.
However, that High Ground was still a full meter away from the center of the Underground Warehouse. Even if Lin Yuan exerted himself to the fullest, it would take him three minutes to reach it, and clearly, the enemy would not give him that time.
Sure enough, a minute later, a beam of red light shot from the direction of the High Ground. Fortunately, Lin Yuan had been paying close attention to that area, so he managed to jump aside just in time to avoid being hit. However, unsure of the enemy's attack frequency, he had no choice but to hide behind a broken concrete pillar.
To Lin Yuan's surprise, for reasons unknown—perhaps to toy with him or something else—the enemy did not continue attacking. This situation left him frozen in place, too afraid to move, fearing that if he peeked out, he would be shot in the head.
Time passed slowly in the terrifying silence. Lin Yuan's Auditory Radar could not capture the enemy's position. Just as he could no longer bear it and was about to take a risk, a faint "clack clack" sound reached his ears.
Then, a Mechanical Spider about one and a half meters tall appeared on the High Ground, quickly crawling straight toward Lin Yuan's location.
In an instant, Lin Yuan was startled; the Mechanical Spider looked incredibly realistic. If not for the partial data flashing in his mind, he might have found it hard to accept.
"F1-level long-range reconnaissance Mechanical Warrior, Health Points 00, Energy 190/00."
"Basic Attributes: Unknown."
"Basic Skills: None; Unknown."
"Combat Skills: Unknown."
"It's actually a long-range reconnaissance type. No wonder it could spot me from fifty meters away. But what should I do now? This thing has two titles, so it must have Combat Skills. Although I specialize in close combat, I definitely can't take it on directly. The only option is to lure it into the Underground Warehouse!"
With this thought in mind, Lin Yuan quickly calculated the cover along this route. If he could utilize it effectively, he would have a good chance of reaching the Underground Warehouse. However, the key was how to safely dash out from behind this concrete pillar since the Mechanical Spider was undoubtedly locking onto him; as soon as he showed himself, he would be hit.
The "clack clack" sound lasted only a few seconds before the Mechanical Spider climbed down from the High Ground. Its speed was even slightly faster than Lin Yuan's. However, as it descended from the High Ground, it lost its long-range visibility. It seemed that Lin Yuan's weakness made it unworthy of waiting any longer.
But this was exactly what Lin Yuan had been hoping for. With the threat from above eliminated, he had more opportunities to use various cover to escape back to the Underground Warehouse. Of course, he also had to avoid being caught by the Mechanical Spider on the way.
"Now's the time! Run!" As the Mechanical Spider descended from the High Ground, Lin Yuan pressed his two charged Mechanical Arms against a concrete pillar and immediately propelled himself into the air.
"Whoosh!" As expected, a red beam narrowly missed Lin Yuan's Mechanical Legs, nearly causing him to lose his composure.
"Whoa!" As soon as he landed, Lin Yuan began his second jump. He was fully committed now; he still had over ten meters to reach the nearest cover ahead. If the Mechanical Spider could shoot continuously, there was at least an eighty percent chance it would hit him.
"One second... two seconds... three seconds..." Time seemed to slow down immensely at that moment. Lin Yuan could clearly perceive every movement he made, and for some reason, his previously anxious and fearful emotions transformed into a calmness.
This calmness allowed Lin Yuan to grasp the entire battlefield situation for the first time. While fleeing along his predetermined route, he also collected data on the Mechanical Spider's movements.
Sure enough, after ten seconds, the Mechanical Spider's steps paused slightly before a red beam shot out from its mouth.
At a distance of just forty meters, given Lin Yuan's speed, there was no way to dodge this attack. However, he did not attempt to evade; instead, he cleverly spun his two Mechanical Arms on the ground and used one of the already damaged wheels to absorb the impact of the red beam.
"Bang!" Leveraging that immense force, Lin Yuan propelled himself forward without reservation. Although that red beam inflicted zero damage on him, based on his earlier observations, the Mechanical Spider's attacks seemed to have a ten-second cooldown. Despite being injured, he had finally gained this precious ten seconds!
