The question from the young man with yellow hair left me feeling somewhat baffled. I couldn't help but roll my eyes and replied, "Why should I tell you?"
"I'm not trying to pry into your privacy," Ivan said. "I just think your behavior is a bit strange."
"What's strange about it?" I asked.
"You seem to be interested in very ordinary items, yet you're willing to spend a lot of money to bid on them," Ivan analyzed. "That doesn't seem like something a normal person would do."
"So what do you think I should do?" I countered.
"If you really liked those things, you wouldn't just give up after spending a little money," Ivan said. "Yet here you are, willing to bid several times more than their worth. That's quite unusual."
"I just have money and like to waste it," I replied lightly.
"No, you're not wasting it," Ivan shook his head. "You're just trying to attract attention this way."
His words caught me off guard.
He was right; I was indeed doing it on purpose. On one hand, I genuinely liked those auction items; on the other hand, I wanted to showcase my strength and make those who once looked down on me regret their judgments. But I hadn't expected Ivan to see through my intentions.
"How about that? Did I guess right?" Ivan said, noticing my silence and becoming smug.
"So what if you did?" I scoffed. "What does that have to do with you?"
"It doesn't have anything to do with me," Ivan shrugged. "I was just curious."
"Now that you know the answer, can you leave?" I said coldly.
"Come on, don't be mad," Ivan laughed. "I was just asking casually, nothing more."
"Casually asking?" I sneered. "Your casual questions have wasted quite a bit of my time."
"I'm sorry, I apologize," Ivan said. "I promise not to bother you again next time."
"You better remember what you said," I warned him.
"I will, I will," Ivan nodded repeatedly.
I shot him a glare before turning my attention back to the stage.
At that moment, there were five minutes left until the auction ended.
"Alright, everyone, the auction is nearing its conclusion," Zhou Zheng announced loudly from the stage. "Please take a short break; we'll see you shortly."
With that, Zhou Zheng stepped down from the stage.
I glanced at the time; there were only four minutes left until the auction ended, so I patiently waited.
Soon, the four minutes passed, and the auction officially concluded.
"Alright, everyone, this auction is officially over. Thank you all for your participation," Zhou Zheng announced loudly from the stage. "Please exit in an orderly manner. Thank you for your cooperation."
As Zhou Zheng finished speaking, people in the hall began to leave one after another. I stood up as well, preparing to exit.
"Miss Su, please wait a moment." Suddenly, Ivan called out to me.
"What do you want now?" I stopped and looked at Ivan with displeasure.
"Miss Su, I would like to invite you to dinner. Is that alright?" Ivan asked.
"There's no need," I replied firmly.
"Miss Su, please don't misunderstand," Ivan said quickly as he noticed my irritation. "I just want to treat you to a meal to express my gratitude."
"Gratitude?" I questioned suspiciously. "What are you thanking me for?"
"Thank you for helping me realize that some things cannot be forced," Ivan replied.
"You've realized that?" I was taken aback.
"Yes," Ivan nodded seriously. "So I want to take you out for dinner to properly thank you."
"That's unnecessary," I shook my head. "Just don't bother me anymore."
"Uh..." Ivan said awkwardly. "I won't bother you again, but I still want to invite you to dinner."
"Why are you so insistent on taking me out?" I frowned.
"Because there are some things I want to discuss with you," Ivan explained. "But it's not convenient to talk about it here."
"What do you want to say?" I asked, puzzled.
"This matter concerns your safety," Ivan said. "So we should talk outside."
"My safety?" My confusion deepened. "What do you know?"
"I don't know much," Ivan admitted. "But let's go outside and talk."
I thought for a moment and then nodded. "Alright."
"Great! Thank you for your time, Miss Su," Ivan said happily.
With that, I followed Ivan as we walked outside.
We stepped out of the hall and arrived outside the Auction House.
"What do you want to say to me?" I asked.
"Well, Miss Su, I just noticed that someone has been staring at you," Ivan replied.
"Who?" I asked, surprised.
"I don't know him either," Ivan said. "He's a man, and his gaze towards you is quite unfriendly."
"Unfriendly?" I frowned. "Why does he have hostility towards me?"
"I have no idea," Ivan shook his head. "I just wanted to give you a heads-up to be careful."
"Thanks, I appreciate it," I said gratefully.
"You're welcome," Ivan waved his hand dismissively. "It's just a small matter."
"Then if there's nothing else, I'll be on my way," I said.
"Alright, goodbye, Miss Su," Ivan replied.
I waved at Ivan and turned to leave.
However, after taking a few steps, a figure suddenly blocked my path.
I was startled and quickly stopped.
"Are you Su Xiaoxiao?" a man stood in front of me, looking at me coldly.
"I am Su Xiaoxiao," I nodded. "Who are you?"
"Are you Su Liyan's sister?" the man asked again.
"You know my sister?" I was taken aback.
"Hmph, of course I know her," the man snorted coldly.
"Do you need something from her?" I inquired.
"I’m not looking for her," the man said. "I'm looking for you."
"For me?" I was puzzled. "What do you want with me?"
"You need to hand over the Heart of the Ocean sapphire," the man commanded.
So this was the person who was after the Heart of the Ocean sapphire that I had been competing for.
"Why should I give it to you?" I scoffed.
"Just because I'm Liu Bin," the man said arrogantly.
"Liu Bin?" I was taken aback.
I seemed to have heard that name before; he was one of Su Liyan's many admirers. It was said that he was very fond of her, but Su Liyan did not return his feelings.
"You've heard my name?" Seeing my surprise, Liu Bin assumed I was intimidated and became even more pleased with himself.
"Yes, I've heard of you," I nodded.
"Since you know who I am, you should understand that daring to compete with me for something will not end well for you," Liu Bin threatened.
"Oh?" I raised an eyebrow. "What do you want to do?"
"Hand over the Heart of the Ocean sapphire, and I'll let you off the hook," Liu Bin said.
"And what if I refuse?" I provoked him.
"Then don't blame me for being rude," Liu Bin snarled.
"Rude?" I scoffed. "What are you going to do? Kill me?"
"You think I wouldn't dare?" Liu Bin shouted angrily.
"Then go ahead and make your move," I met Liu Bin's gaze without fear.
Liu Bin stared at me for a moment, then suddenly lunged forward.
I quickly dodged to the side, avoiding his attack.
"Help! He's trying to kill me!" I screamed loudly.
My scream caught the attention of those around us, and soon several security personnel rushed over.
"Mr. Zhu, please calm down," one of the security guards said.
"Get lost!" Liu Bin yelled.
"Mr. Zhu, if you continue like this, we will have to call the police," the security guard warned.
"Call the police?" Liu Bin sneered. "Do you think that will scare me?"
"Then we have no choice but to offend you," the security guard replied.
"You dare!" Liu Bin roared.
However, the security personnel ignored Liu Bin's threats and moved in to subdue him.
"Let me go!" Liu Bin struggled desperately, but he couldn't break free.
"Miss Su, are you alright?" a security personnel asked with concern.
"I'm fine," I shook my head.
"Don't worry, Miss Su. We'll handle this," the security personnel assured me.
"Okay, thank you," I replied gratefully.
"You're too polite, Miss Su. It's our duty," the security personnel said before escorting Liu Bin away.
Watching Liu Bin's retreating figure, I couldn't help but laugh. What a fool he was! He actually dared to lay hands on me in the Auction House. Didn't he know how well the security measures were enforced there? His blatant threat would surely lead to consequences.
Sure enough, the next day I heard that Liu Bin had been detained by the police. Apparently, his detention was not only due to threatening me but also for suspected violent crimes. Of course, this was all information Ivan shared with me.
It turned out that Ivan and Ivy had noticed Liu Bin yesterday as well, and they acted as witnesses to confirm that Liu Bin had indeed threatened me.
"Miss Su, that guy was definitely a dangerous individual. You need to be more careful in the future," Ivan warned.
"I know," I nodded. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Ivan said. "But Miss Su, I have one more question for you."
"What is it?" I asked.
"Are you Su Liyan's sister?" Ivan inquired.
"Yes," I nodded.
"Then did you bid on that 'Heart of the Ocean' sapphire for your sister?" Ivan asked again.
"No," I shook my head. "I wanted it for myself."
"Was it worth spending so much money on?" Ivan questioned.
"It was worth it," I affirmed. "Because I like it."
"Is it just because you like it?" Ivan asked skeptically.
"Of course," I affirmed.
"Well," Ivan said, "there's one more thing I'd like your help with."
"What is it?" I inquired.
"Could you sell me that guitar made by Erquery?" Ivan requested.
"You want to buy that guitar?" I exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes," Ivan nodded.
"Why?" I asked, curious.
"Because I really like that guitar," Ivan replied. "I've always wanted to own a good guitar, but I've never had the chance."
"So you want to buy it from me?" I questioned.
"Yes," Ivan nodded again.
"But I've already won it in the auction," I said. "Why would I give it to you?"
"Miss Su, please let me have it," Ivan pleaded. "I really love that guitar."
"But I love it too," I countered.
"Miss Su, I can offer a higher price," Ivan stated.
"No matter how much you offer, I'm not necessarily going to sell it," I said lightly.
"What would it take for you to sell it?" Ivan asked.
I thought for a moment and then said, "If you help me with something, I can give you that guitar."
"What do you need help with?" Ivan asked.
"I haven't thought of anything yet," I replied. "I'll let you know when I do."
"Alright," Ivan nodded. "I'll wait for your news."
"Mm-hmm," I nodded back.
After parting ways with Ivan, I returned home. As soon as I arrived, I received a transfer of two million from Ivan.
