"Hold on, Wen Yue City! We're almost there!" The voice of Liang Muqi came through the watch. Wen Yue City used the corpse of the familiar 0033 as a shield and moved behind a nearby stone tablet. Several sniper bullets whizzed past, striking the ground beside him, the sound almost deafening before it abruptly stopped. Terrified, he rolled behind the stone tablet. After confirming that his Element Device was intact, he clutched his chest, his eyes wide with relief as he gasped for air.
Another gunshot rang out, and a bullet struck the corner of the stone tablet right next to Wen Yue City's right ear. He shuddered but quickly turned to glance in the direction from which the bullet had come—an old residential building.
Wen Yue City put on the glasses prepared for him by Nars and marked the location. In that moment, he couldn't tell if it was instinct or luck; he immediately ducked back just as another bullet grazed the spot where half his face had been exposed while observing. Startled, he sprang up from his seated position like a released spring.
"Liang Muqi, I've marked that sniper!" Wen Yue City shouted into the communication channel. "Also, the contact has been killed; I'm now locked onto!"
"Received. The team is already on the move."
However, when Wen Yue City looked up, he saw a mass of dark figures on the wall of West Gate Tower. At that moment, everything clicked: the traitor 0033 had been exposed. The most likely motive was yesterday's communication; the hawks within internal Human had let him out tonight to meet him, intending to lure him here and take him out when the time was right!
Now he had nowhere to go: on the wall were his kin who wanted him dead, and behind him in the residential building was a sniper watching his every move. If The Celestial Warriors didn't arrive soon, his life could end at any moment, along with the Element Device he needed to rescue Lu Sha!
He suddenly recalled Liu Xuan's words: if you fall into a trap, both lives will be lost.
"Oh no..." Wen Yue City's eyes reflected his kin sliding down ropes to the ground one after another, guns raised towards him. He could clearly hear the unique charging sound of laser guns being readied. Clutching his Element Device, he curled up beneath the stone tablet like a rabbit with nowhere to escape from its predator.
At the same time, in Song Family Courtyard
The phone vibrated continuously for ten minutes, forcing An Xiaotian to get up and see who was calling at four in the morning.
"Sister Jiao An?"
An Xiaotian initially thought it was an emergency involving a team sent out for a mission needing assistance; however, it was Jiao An calling. As he answered, he glanced outside at Liu Xuan's Villa and noticed it was brightly lit.
"What’s going on? Is there an emergency?"
"Yes! Come to Liu Xuan's place quickly."
Ten minutes later
Liu Xuan opened the door for An Xiaotian, who immediately asked, "What happened? Why wake me up at this hour?"
"There's an urgent message from the United Nations. If it weren't for the time difference, we wouldn't want to bother you at this hour," Liu Xuan replied.
A massive blue projection backdrop covered most of the living room; it was projected from Liu Xuan's computer. The backdrop showed an office where six people were maintaining real-time video contact with The Celestial Warriors. Liu Xuan informed An Xiaotian that this was a connection request from Geneva Office and that they had been waiting here for nearly half an hour for The Celestial Warriors Alliance's captain. This made An Xiaotian feel that being woken up at four in the morning wasn't such an unreasonable thing after all.
"Has he arrived yet? If not, there's still someone here! I just want to know where to find Miao Chengmin!" A voice came from across the video feed as six people parted ways. A girl who looked only about fifteen years old appeared before everyone with an angry expression; astonishingly, she was surrounded by glowing specks of light like fireflies.
"Captain An, there's an urgent situation here; let me explain briefly." A man with thick hair stepped forward. Although he spoke English, it was heavily accented with Swedish. He dismissed the girl behind him with an expression of clear dissatisfaction.
"You may proceed," An Xiaotian said as he moved between Liu Xuan, Qin Weishan, and Jiao An.
"Tonight at seven o'clock Stockholm Time, a girl—this one right here—caused a commotion at our United Nations office..."
"What do you mean by making a fuss? I'm really looking for someone!" The girl behind him popped her head into the frame and shouted at the video, but others quickly pulled her back.
"She's making a scene about finding someone named Miao Chengmin, claiming she has searched the entire Earth, and then..."
"Then I remembered that you have an advanced defense organization on Earth, so I came to your United Nations to seek help!"
On the other side of the video, everyone turned to glare at the little girl. However, it was clear that she was very anxious.
"Anyway, we don't really understand what's going on here. I suspect this girl is just making things up; maybe she's one of your crazy fans. How could a little kid claim to have traveled the entire Earth?" The man said helplessly. "She insists on meeting you all, and we've temporarily taken her in because we can't find any information about her nationality or anything. Let her talk to you."
The man glanced back at the girl and added one last sentence: "It's just an unreasonable request from a little girl. If it disturbs your rest time, please accept our apologies."
"Looking for Miao Chengmin?" An Xiaotian and the others exchanged glances.
"Hey, can you hear me?" The girl knocked on the screen. "I'm Taokalanphiel, the leader of the reinforcements from the Divine Realm, granddaughter of Space-Time King Sogfear. I believe Miao Chengmin has mentioned me to you. Are you listening?"
"We're listening," Liu Xuan's left eye turned moonlight color as Nars's voice appeared. It's hard to imagine that this fifteen-year-old girl was actually a three-dimensional embodiment of a soul from the Divine Realm.
"I really have no other way; I can only search for you through your planet's headquarters. I've searched the entire Earth and still can't find where Miao Chengmin is. I'm starting to doubt if I teleported to the wrong planet; it's driving me crazy! Ah..." Taokalanphiel sighed deeply while holding her forehead.
"Is this really the leader that Miao Chengmin mentioned?" Qin Weishan whispered to Jiao An with a frown. "In terms of appearance and speech, how is she any different from an average middle school girl?"
Indeed, as Qin Weishan pointed out, in the video call, this girl appeared no different from an ordinary human girl except for the glowing points of light surrounding her like fireflies. It was hard not to suspect that she was just a crazy or mentally ill girl causing trouble here. For the United Nations office to believe her was already quite tolerant.
However, compared to those in the United Nations office, The Celestial Warriors trusted this girl's true identity more because at least she mentioned Miao Chengmin's name. Just based on that, An Xiaotian felt it was necessary to hear what she had to say.
Seeing that Taokalanphiel's emotions had stabilized, An Xiaotian spoke up: "Alright, let's get down to business. First of all, Miao Chengmin is with us; we can contact him, so you haven't teleported to the wrong planet. You can rest assured about that."
"Really?" Taokalanphiel's ears perked up, and more glowing points flew from her eyes.
"Secondly, Miao Chengmin has mentioned you all to us; members of your Divine Realm Support Team are scattered around three locations near Quantum String Engine Locators across the world. Not just you—Miao Chengmin is also looking for you and your team." An Xiaotian continued.
"That's great! At least we won't get lost," Taokalanphiel sighed with relief and then looked up as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. "To save your planet, Divine Realm has invested heavily; think about it—there are billions of planets in the universe, and such treatment is rare."
"Since we've been drawn into this cosmic war, we can only do our best; everyone wants to live peacefully," An Xiaotian said. "I'll send our address to the United Nations so we can meet as soon as possible."
"Wait! I have a question!" Taokalanphiel suddenly raised a finger. "Are those three Quantum String Engine Locators your technology?"
"Those belong to internal Humans."
"My subordinates were teleported there and then killed! I knew it couldn't be Earthlings!" Taokalanphiel slammed her hand on the table. "I will give you the precise coordinates of those three Quantum String Engine Locators. Our Support Team and Miao Chengmin's Spirit Corps Legion will work with you to destroy internal Human hideouts. If we destroy the Quantum String Locators, Earth will be safe!"
At that same time under West Gate Tower in E City...
Wen Yue City had already closed her eyes in despair; if no one came to save her soon, she would die as long as her kin wanted to kill her.
"Wen Yue City!"
A furious roar echoed from the shadow ahead, the voice calling out in the language of the Internal Humans. Wen Yue City suddenly opened his eyes, struggling to retreat, but he was pressed against the stone tablet, and his frantic movements only served to comfort himself.
"Flee!"
The sound of a laser gun's vibration thundered, but the beam did not strike him; instead, it hit the ground beside his feet. He watched as the laser kicked up a cloud of dust, leaving behind a crater outlined in blood red.
"Betrayal!"
Another gunshot rang out, and this time, the laser beam pierced through his shoulder. Wen Yue City let out a scream, instinctively trying to cover the wound, but the intense heat from the laser left his hand with nowhere to go. Thin white smoke rose from his left shoulder, and he could smell the scent of his own flesh burning.
"In cahoots!"
By the time Wen Yue City regained his composure, the figures of his kin had obscured his vision, five gun barrels aimed directly at his forehead. The person in the middle crouched down, and a battle blade sprang forth from their wrist, its edge poised at Wen Yue City's throat.
"Compromising with aliens and abandoning the faith of battle! You have truly brought shame upon the Internal Humans!"
"Wen Yue City!"
Once again, he heard his name. His gaze shifted away from the blade just in time to see Blackhawk diving down. A beam of light shot out, instantly incinerating the kin who had been ready to slit his throat into ashes…
