As Ye Xiu stepped between the two Sophora Trees, everything before him changed.
The sky was black, and a forest lay ahead, not very large—perhaps one could traverse it in about five hundred meters. Faintly, he could see a grand mansion behind the trees.
At this moment, Ye Xiu felt a surge of excitement; the gates of the cultivation world he had often seen in stories had appeared before him. If he could gain some "celestial fortune," he would be able to soar through the skies and achieve anything he desired. Surely, this would allow him to easily show the world his capabilities and help his brother find him more quickly!
Suppressing his excitement, Ye Xiu moved forward.
As he walked ahead, a figure in black trailed behind him unnoticed.
Ye Xiu continued on, oblivious to the presence following him.
Suddenly, a term came to mind: Tang Family Fortress.
The Tang Family! What a legendary clan, a true sect that had existed in ancient times, now feeling so real.
Images of what might happen next flashed through Ye Xiu's mind.
What did the Tang Family Head look like?
Should he ask the head of the Tang Family to let him stay and learn something?
Would there be many other disciples around?
...
Ye Xiu lost himself in these fantasies.
Finally, he was about to pass through the forest; light was just ahead.
As he reached the edge of the woods, it felt like stepping out of a movie, where a vast expanse of holy light slowly faded away, revealing a paradise.
But instead of the idyllic scene he had imagined, a massive hand came crashing toward him.
Ye Xiu's legs went weak, and he instinctively fell to the ground.
In doing so, he narrowly avoided the attack from the Unknown Creature.
Ye Xiu stared in shock at the Unknown Creature before him.
It was larger than the Muscular Man who had beaten him up earlier, covered in fur, with round eyes and a nose that resembled a black ball the size of an eyeball. Its mouth revealed a row of sharp teeth, making it look particularly terrifying.
Wasn’t this a bear?
But why was it standing like a human?
Did it want to eat him?
Ye Xiu's face darkened; it seemed like he was about to enter panic mode again. This was getting ridiculous.
Having grown accustomed to being chased, Ye Xiu quickly got back on his feet, dodged around the giant bear, and sprinted toward the house.
Just as he was nearing safety, Ye Xiu glanced back over his shoulder.
For some unknown reason, a person suddenly appeared, wearing a Western hat and dressed in a simple white top and skirt.
The bear no longer chased Ye Xiu but charged toward the slender figure, reaching them in an instant. Its massive paw swooped down...
Earlier, upon seeing that slender figure, Ye Xiu had stopped, feeling an inexplicable sense of familiarity. Watching the bear rush toward that figure, he unconsciously dashed forward.
It was purely instinctive.
Ye Xiu's body flew in front of the slender figure just as the moment arrived, and he clearly saw a familiar face!
The face was clean-cut, with eyes like jewels and lips like cherry petals—innocent and stunning, captivating enough to leave one entranced.
Moreover, and most importantly, this girl was the one he had accidentally groped earlier.
In that fleeting moment, Ye Xiu seemed to understand something. He immediately regretted rushing over.
There was no antidote for regret; what awaited him was the enormous bear paw that swatted him away.
As Ye Xiu flew backward, his last glimpse was of the girl's astonished expression. His consciousness began to fade.
His body crashed to the ground like a cannonball.
Dust rose in clouds. Ye Xiu coughed up blood, and where the bear's paw had struck him bled profusely. The sharp pain made him realize that nearly seventy percent of his bones were shattered.
Was this how it would end?
Free Life Had it really ended just like that?
Then, Ye Xiu fell unconscious...
The big bear turned to attack the girl. However, before he could take any further action, he was struck away by a black-clad figure that appeared out of nowhere.
The black-clad figure then took out a bag, opened it, and a whirlwind slowly expanded from the opening, completely sucking the big bear inside.
Walking over to the girl, the figure softly said, “Tang Luor, my mission is complete.”
The girl lifted her slightly flushed face and urgently said, “Uncle Three, please save him. I will talk to my father.”
“Ridiculous!”
“Uncle Three, I’m begging you. Didn’t you see how he rushed over to block that strike for me? If it weren’t for him trying to help me, he wouldn’t be in this state now.”
“My original mission was to deal with that guy. How could I spare his life after he harmed my esteemed Eldest Sister Tang?”
“Uncle Three, if you don’t save him today, I will go on a hunger strike. I won’t go home, I will…”
“…”
“Uncle Three~~~” The girl shook the black-clad man’s arm.
“Alright, alright. How old are you and still acting spoiled?” the black-clad man said helplessly.
The man in black casually waved his hand, and Ye Xiu floated up into the air.
"I'll take him to the pharmacy first. You should go see your father. The chances of saving this Zifan person, given his severe injuries, are slim," he said.
"Uncle Three, please do your best to save him. If it really doesn't work, I still have my ways. I'll go find my father now. You hurry," the girl replied before leaving.
Upon hearing her words, the man in black was momentarily surprised. Could it be that the eldest sister has taken a liking to this boy? She’s actually willing to use that thing to save his life!
…………
In a room with a large floor-to-ceiling window, a middle-aged man sat in an antique wooden chair.
This man must be the Tang Family Head mentioned by the man in black.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and a girl rushed in.
"Tang Luor, what happened? Why are you in such a hurry?" The man spoke gently, his demeanor a stark contrast to his usual coldness and seriousness.
"Father, let's not trouble that young man anymore. He just..." Tang Luor briefly recounted the events.
"So, you've taken a liking to him?" The Tang Family Head smiled.
"Not at all. I just felt sorry for him after he risked himself to save me," Tang Luor said softly, her cheeks slightly flushed.
"Who was it that was shouting about getting rid of that scoundrel before? And now look..." the head of the family teased.
"..." Tang Luor puffed her cheeks and chose not to respond.
"It's been a long time since I've seen my daughter with such an expression. Well, I'll leave it to you."
"Thank you, Father," Tang Luor blurted out, her voice filled with joy.
After bidding farewell to her father, Tang Luor rushed toward the pharmacy.
Hearing her hurried footsteps, the man in black did not look up but said directly, "There's no saving him. His ribs are nearly shattered, and his internal organs are severely damaged. If it were anyone else, they would have died long ago. I just don't understand why he’s still alive."
Tang Luor's heart sank. She bent down to look at Ye Xiu, who lay there.
She noticed that despite his pale face, the corners of Ye Xiu's mouth were inexplicably turned up.
Tang Luor raised her slender fingers and slowly reached toward Ye Xiu's cheek. She gently touched it but quickly withdrew her hand, her face slightly flushed.
Then, as if she had made a decision, Tang Luor stood up and resolutely walked out of the pharmacy.
