Inside the villa, the Scarred Man was joyfully whipping the man lying at his feet. Listening to the other's agonized screams and seeing the fearful yet terrified eyes of the Survivors around him, he reveled in this treatment that he could rarely enjoy.
He laughed happily, delightfully; here, he was the king, and no one dared defy his will.
If he wanted women, they would obediently spread their legs for him. If he wanted food, someone would dutifully bring it to him. This kind of life was far beyond what one could experience in peacetime.
He realized that he had fallen in love with this apocalypse, with the Zombies outside.
“Hahaha… Hahaha…”
Laughing maniacally and excitedly, he increased the force of his blows. The man at his feet screamed even more painfully.
However, just as he was enjoying this sense of superiority, the Lecherous Young Man he had sent to keep watch rushed down from the second floor in a panic.
“No… it’s bad! Brother Li! Brother Wang! Zombies! There are so many Zombies outside! They’re surrounding us!”
The pleasure of inflicting pain was interrupted, and the Scarred Man glared at the Lecherous Young Man with displeasure, swinging his whip at him. “What are you shouting about? Did your mother die?”
“No, Brother Li, Zombies! There are so many Zombies outside! We’re surrounded!” The Lecherous Young Man shouted in terror, not caring about the whip marks on his body. “You all need to see! There are so many Zombies surrounding us; the whole area is almost filled!”
The two Thugs exchanged glances, looking at each other in disbelief.
“Is this for real?” The Scarred Man looked at the Lecherous Young Man; his terrified expression was not feigned. He suddenly sensed that something was wrong. “Take me to see. If I find out you’re messing with me, you’re dead!”
The Lecherous Young Man quickly jumped up and led the way.
After they left, the remaining Thug snorted coldly and drew his gun, aiming it at the restless Survivors. “Everyone sit still! No moving around! Anyone who dares to move will find my gun doesn’t miss.”
The dark muzzle of the gun swept across the room, causing a group of Survivors to sit rigidly in place, too afraid to make a sound.
As the hall fell silent, the distant roars from outside the villa became clearer.
Listening to the rising and falling cries, and recalling the words of the Lecherous Young Man, everyone turned pale. If there really were that many Zombies, and they were targeting them...
The Survivors instinctively glanced at the gun held by one of the Thugs on the sofa, their faces filled with despair.
Could they truly be protected by just these two guns? To prevent any rebellion, the two Thugs hadn’t even given them a single weapon. If the Zombies really surged in, they would be completely doomed.
Three minutes later, the Scarred Man descended from the second floor with a grim expression and strode over to another Thug. There was no need for words; his ugly face spoke volumes.
"Damn it! Everything was fine before—why are so many Zombies suddenly gathering here?"
The two Thugs exchanged glances as the Scarred Man cursed angrily, his eyes wide as he glared at the group of Survivors.
"Is this your doing?! Is it? Otherwise, how could there be Zombies surrounding us for no reason? Who did this? I’ll kill him!"
The dark muzzle of the gun was now aimed directly at them. The Scarred Man trembled with rage and fear, as if he might accidentally pull the trigger or take out his frustration on them at any moment.
With the gun pointed at them, these fellows, who had long lost all dignity and spirit from their torment, were terrified into kneeling down, repeatedly bowing their heads in pleas for mercy.
Several of them were so frightened that they cried, tears and snot streaming down their faces.
"It wasn't me! I swear it wasn't me! Brother Wang, you have to believe me!"
"Brother Li, you know me, I'm the most loyal! How could I possibly do such a thing? It really wasn't me!"
A group of people either cried out for mercy or wore grim expressions, turning the entire hall into a cacophony of noise.
At that moment, the only one who seemed calm in the villa's hall was a girl curled up in the corner like a puppet, staring blankly.
Before this group of Survivors could recover from their fear of the Zombie attack and devise a good escape plan, a loud crash suddenly echoed from the villa's front door.
With a resounding bang, the door was forced open by the Zombies. Without the barrier of the door, a horde of Zombies surged in like a tidal wave, roaring as they entered.
"Ahhh!!! Help me!"
Once the Zombies caught a whiff of living flesh, they lunged forward immediately.
Seeing the swaying Zombies rushing toward them like an unstoppable tide, the Survivors finally broke down. They could no longer care about the threat of gunfire; they screamed and jumped up, scattering in all directions to escape.
At that moment, two armed Thugs also had no time to worry about their fellow Survivors. They exchanged glances with grim expressions and dashed up to the second floor.
They planned to climb to the rooftop to evade the Zombies. After all, unlike humans, Zombies couldn't climb walls and posed no threat to those hiding above.
As for escaping in other directions, upon hearing the horrific screams of Survivors who jumped over walls, the two Thugs realized that this method was futile.
Now not only was the front door compromised, but the entire villa was surrounded by Zombies. Jumping over the walls would only serve to deliver themselves to the Zombies.
Seeing where the two Thugs were heading, two quick-witted Survivors hurriedly followed them. Although these Thugs were brutal and fierce, at least they wouldn't eat them.
Staying below, caught by that group of Zombies, would undoubtedly mean being devoured until only bones remained, with no place to rest in death.
In the entire hall, the only one who remained still was a girl in the corner.
She stared blankly at the Survivors scattering in panic, then being torn apart and eaten by the Zombies, showing no reaction whatsoever.
Even as the howling Zombies smashed through the floor-to-ceiling glass on one side of the hall and surged in close to her, she merely gazed at it all, like a puppet.
"Roar... Roar..."
Sensing the scent of fresh human flesh, the group of Zombies excitedly lunged toward the girl in the corner.
However, at that moment, a wave of Mental Power swept through the hall. The closest group of Zombies froze in place, abandoning their attack on the girl and instead forming a circle around her, protecting her in the center.
Over a hundred Zombies formed a wall that nearly occupied half of the living room's space. Within this circle of Zombies, a two-meter radius around the girl became the only sanctuary amidst the Zombie Sea.
The Zombies outside, unable to squeeze in after crowding for a while, turned their attention elsewhere and staggered up to the second floor in pursuit of the living.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!"
On the second-floor corridor, two Thugs cursed angrily.
Listening to the rising and falling roars of Zombies from below, even these two Executioners, known for their ruthlessness, felt an overwhelming fear as their voices trembled.
The sheer number and density of Zombies exceeded their imagination. They had no idea why this group of Zombies suddenly surrounded them when they had been hiding so well, and why there were so many.
"Whoever did this, if I find out, I'll make sure to kill him!"
Cursing fiercely, the two Thugs ran toward the last escape route.
Ahead was the balcony on the second floor of the villa. With just a table to help them, they could climb up and escape from the clutches of the Zombies.
However, just as they burst onto the balcony, a shadow suddenly dashed out from the corner.
The figure moved with incredible speed and explosive power, covering five meters in an instant to stand before the two men.
Two sharp kitchen knives sliced through the air, one from each side, targeting their heads. The face of the assailant bore an expression of shock and disbelief.
Thud—thud—
In almost perfect synchrony with the sound of blood spraying, the headless bodies of the two Thugs fell heavily backward, blood gushing from their severed necks in a maddened torrent.
The sudden turn of events left two Survivors who had been following the Thugs frozen in shock.
They stared wide-eyed, trembling as they watched the pale-skinned Zombie pick up one of the Thugs' discarded handguns and rummage through their bodies for bullets, letting out an incredulous scream, "Chu... Chu Donglin?! Aren't you supposed to be dead?"
They had witnessed Chu Donglin being thrown into a horde of Zombies and bitten by them.
Although he had managed to escape in the end, under normal circumstances, Chu Donglin should have been completely dead by now, transformed into a soulless Zombie.
Yet this person before them, while appearing no different from a Zombie, exhibited a terrifying explosiveness and agility that was starkly different from that of an Ordinary Zombie... Was this really a Zombie?
Chu Donglin raised his head, securing the bullets and handgun. Shaking the blood off the kitchen knife, he approached with a sinister smile, holding a knife in one hand.
"I... crawled... out... of... hell..."
With each stuttered word, Chu Donglin took a step forward.
As he stood before the two trembling individuals, both had already knelt down, begging for his mercy with tears streaming down their faces.
Spare you? Ha... If I spare you, then who will spare Uncle Li? Who will spare Shishi?
Coldly observing the two Survivors desperately bowing their heads in supplication, Chu Donglin raised his knife without hesitation, and two more heads rolled to the ground.
People like you are not worth saving!
Stepping coldly over the two headless corpses, he walked toward the end of the corridor, brushing past the Zombies that surged from that direction. Chu Donglin descended the stairs, and behind him came the chilling sound of chewing.
But Chu Donglin remained unfazed. He parted the group of Zombies he controlled and made his way through the path they created, arriving in front of the girl, Shishi.
