Wu Rong was so happy that he seemed almost unrecognizable, even taking the initiative to say, "You should reply to him and let him come over." His face was filled with a childish expression of 'I'm not afraid of him.'
"Rather than letting you meet outside, it's better to do it at home. I feel more at ease," Wu Rong said softly.
Rao Jie looked at Wu Rong suspiciously for a while, but under his urging, she sent the message anyway. Rao Jie indeed had something to discuss with Long Yong.
Ever since they had cleared the air, Rao Jie and Wu Rong's interactions felt like they had returned to a time they were most familiar with—easygoing yet subtly sweet scents wafted through the air.
Just as the atmosphere in the room was perfect, the door was suddenly pushed open with force.
"Darling, I'm back... Huh? Am I... interrupting something?"
Standing at the doorway were Wu Xin and Wei Qian, both carrying numerous shopping bags as they had likely just returned from a shopping trip.
At that moment, Wu Rong was sitting very close to Rao Jie, closer than what would be considered normal.
Wu Rong clicked his tongue in annoyance.
Rao Jie realized what was happening and immediately blushed.
Wu Xin quickly said, "You two continue; we'll step outside!"
Upon hearing this, Rao Jie panicked and hurriedly said, "What did you buy? Let me see."
What a clumsy topic change! Wu Xin and Wei Qian exchanged awkward laughs while Wu Rong impatiently stood up and left the room with a dark expression.
Once the door closed, it became a world for the girlfriends.
Wei Qian helped put things away while Wu Xin excitedly flopped onto the bed. "Come on, spill it! Have you and my brother already...?"
Rao Jie felt her face heat up from embarrassment and desperately wanted to explain. However, in her haste, she choked up and started coughing. It wasn't until Wei Qian patted her back that she managed to stop.
Wu Xin grinned widely. "Don't get too excited! We know everything. When are you going to agree to be my sister-in-law?"
Rao Jie immediately felt awkward. "Don't say that! It's not... we're not in that kind of relationship."
Wu Xin waved her hand dismissively. "All I know is that my brother really wants you two to be in that kind of relationship. I’m speaking for our whole family when I say we hope it becomes that way. What about you? How do you feel about my brother? Do you want to be in that kind of relationship?"
Rao Jie got so flustered that she inhaled sharply and started coughing again.
Wei Qian couldn't stand it anymore and quickly intervened. "Don't pressure her! If you push too hard, she might run away! Haven't you ever raised a rabbit?"
Wu Xin burst into laughter.
Rao Jie looked at Wei Qian in disbelief.
Wu Xin continued to ask, "What were you just talking about?"
Rao Jie had no choice but to explain, "We were just discussing how Senior Long Yong came to see me."
Wu Xin blinked and raised an eyebrow, "My brother got angry?"
Rao Jie shook his head, "He asked me to invite him over."
This left not only Wu Xin stunned, but Wei Qian also cast a disbelieving glance.
Wu Xin changed from lying down to kneeling, propping himself up on the bed with a look of disbelief directed at Rao Jie. "Jie Jie, how did I not notice before that you have such talent to save someone from a lonely life? If I had known this earlier, I would have introduced you to my brother back in high school. Would that scumbag Bao Ming even stand a chance?"
Rao Jie felt embarrassed by the comment and said, "Stop joking around."
Wu Xin immediately made an exaggerated expression and replied, "How am I joking? Oh my gosh, in this situation, my brother actually agreed to let his rival come over. He must really be in love with you! He’s willing to make himself uncomfortable for your sake. When has he ever compromised his own happiness for someone else? It's hard to imagine."
Wei Qian couldn't help but add, "Your brother is really generous."
