Wu Xin twitched the corner of his mouth and said, "Heh, if you're coming, then come on. I have no objections. Treat this place like home, and don't stand on ceremony with me!"
Rao Jie chuckled and replied, "You two really are siblings; your words are almost identical."
Wu Xin immediately exchanged a wary glance with Wei Qian.
Suddenly serious, Wu Xin asked, "So you’re saying you won’t move out? I’ll be leaving in a few days; do you still want to continue living here?"
Rao Jie hesitated and awkwardly said, "I might need to stay for another two months."
"What?" Wu Xin exclaimed in disappointment. "Two months? Isn’t it supposed to be a lifetime?"
Wei Qian tapped Wu Xin on the head and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? You have to give Rao Jie some breathing room. You both are putting too much pressure on her."
Wu Xin quickly plastered a smile on her face, trying to appease Rao Jie, fearful of scaring her off.
With the company of sisters, time always flew by especially fast. In the meantime, Wu Rong came in to take her temperature again before leaving.
The group chatted about Wu Xin's experiences in a foreign country. Since neither Rao Jie nor Wei Qian had ever traveled abroad, they were quite curious.
As Wu Xin spoke, she suddenly turned to Wei Qian and said, "Oh right! I just remembered that not long ago, while traveling through other European countries with my classmates, I happened to run into that guy Sun Baiyang!"
Rao Jie was taken aback, while Wei Qian's expression darkened instantly. "Who is Sun Baiyang? Do I know him?"
Rao Jie forced a laugh as Wu Xin sneered, "He left without a word back then and didn’t even give me his contact information. Now he suddenly shows up and has the nerve to greet me. But that guy hasn’t changed at all; he’s still surrounded by admirers everywhere he goes—no serious relationships whatsoever."
Seeing Wei Qian's displeased expression, Rao Jie understood she was still angry but also worried about her good friend since they had known each other much longer than the three of them had known each other. Their relationship was genuinely close.
"Did you ask him why he left without contacting anyone? It’s one thing not to reach out to us, but why…"
Wu Xin glanced at Wei Qian and said, "He hurt my sister’s feelings; of course I had to confront him about his lack of loyalty. But that guy just laughed it off and wouldn’t give me a straight answer at all. It made me furious! I might as well pretend I never knew him; I thought he was my friend."
At this point, Wu Xin patted Wei Qian on the shoulder and reassured her, "So don’t worry; he’s fine—living carefree and happy. He probably just doesn’t want friends like us anymore. You shouldn’t be concerned about him."
Wei Qian's expression changed slightly as she replied, "I don’t even know who you’re talking about!"
Rao Jie and Wu Xin felt disheartened; after all, Sun Baiyang was Wei Qian's closest friend if gender wasn’t taken into account. It was unfortunate that he had vanished without a word or any contact. How could such a friendship not raise suspicions?
That night, Wei Qian went home to accompany her sister while Wu Xin couldn’t suppress her curiosity and tried various indirect methods to pry information from Rao Jie. However, Rao Jie pretended to feel unwell and evaded the questions entirely, leaving Wu Xin anxious and unable to sleep well throughout the night.
The next day, Long Yong and He Dong arrived. He Dong was just there to play a supporting role. Upon seeing Wu Rong, he happily exchanged a few words, after all, he was their professor. Wu Rong and Wu Xin had originally been in the room, likely keeping an eye on Long Yong. However, when Rao Jie mentioned that he had something to discuss with Long Yong, Wu Rong and Wu Xin obediently stepped outside.
