When he heard what I said, Jack exclaimed: "Did you see it?!" "Of course I saw it, otherwise how could I have hit it." "But you only saw a black shadow just now." "I also see it now. What I saw was not a black shadow." Jack was obviously confused by my words. "What exactly is that thing?" "Remember that black hole? That's their lair." Hearing this sentence, Jack felt a little surprised, but my face turned even greener. I felt that noisy, uncomfortable vibration or sound suddenly intensified. I know they are very close to us, as if they are very close. I feel like I have to make a decision, neither of us can run away if this continues. "Jack, let's run separately. I'll guide them to the other side of the river, and you can meet up with Lao People. If we're together, we'll both die. One of us will survive. Remember to tell you what I told you. Leave the information to Fatty. "After hearing my words, Jack's expression changed. It was not because of my words, but because he felt the danger was approaching. But he smiled bitterly: "Don't you think I'm attracted to them? Do you want me to lead them to Lao People? Go to the water!" Jack's last words were loud, but this voice was mixed with Some kind of strange noise, and it wasn't Jack. It was the voice that made me feel anxious. "Go to the water!" As if to drive away this uneasy voice, I yelled the same thing, changed direction and ran towards the Underground River. 0
My fear of the wide, tranquil Underground River was now replaced by the creature that had attacked me. Although I had yet to see it, the eerie sounds it emitted sent chills down my spine. 0

I truly did not want to, nor could I, face this group of beings. I believed they were a social species, and soon enough, my suspicion was confirmed. They were neither from an Alternate Dimension nor from hell. They were simply the ghosts of Earth. 0

Jack leaped over a sharp Stalactite as if showing off in front of me. He no longer maintained his composure and sprinted toward the Underground River, quickly leaving me behind. I was furious and wanted to curse him out if only I had the energy. Didn't he want to see what was attacking us? Why was he acting so cocky now? 0

My physical condition did not allow for such acrobatic leaps. Unless I wanted to end up skewered on a Stalactite like a roasted pig, I could only navigate around it. This meant the distance between Jack and me would only grow larger. Running after this irresponsible guide only filled me with dread. Tears streamed down my face; this was a race for survival. 0

Jack didn't look back until he reached the riverbank, while I had just stepped onto the Wood Chip Dam. 0

Suddenly, Jack halted in a diving stance and shouted at me, "Run! If you don’t give it your all now, you won’t have a life left to fight for!" 0

I ran to the edge of the Underground River like a dog with its tongue hanging out, collapsing onto the Ground, too exhausted to even argue back. 0

“Once you dive in, swim as deep as you can toward the opposite bank. Their sound waves won't penetrate the Pavement to find us, and the Blood Smell on us will be washed away by the river water. I think if we make it across, we can shake them off,” Jack said loudly while pulling me up. 0

Yes, he guessed it; our opponents were likely a swarm of Giant Bats. Although we hadn’t seen them in full view, their ability to accurately locate us in darkness and approach silently could only belong to Bats. Of course, I had never seen or even heard of Bats this large before, but I was no stranger to oversized creatures anymore. What puzzled me was how Jack accepted this situation without any psychological barriers. 0

Jack didn’t manage to pull me up. If you want a drunk person to stand upright, there are only two ways: tie them to a post or hang them up. Although I hadn’t been drinking, my state was not much different from that of a drunkard. My limp body left Jack with no way to help me. 0

Jack's expression turned unusually stern. He shone the One-Eyed Beast Flashlight towards the source of the noise, then looked down at me. "If I make it out alive, I'll relay your message to Fatty. Also, I'll wait for you on the other side of the river. If I can't wait for you, I'll head downstream along the Wood Chip Dam; there should be another Wood Chip Dam over there. Of course, I will eventually swim back here to look for Lao People, but I don't think I can go back. I can't return here to find you. Good luck." 0

With that, Jack turned and jumped into the Underground River. 0

Damn it, how straightforward. I cursed silently. The One-Eyed Beast Flashlight fell to the ground in front of me, its beam illuminating my hand pressed against the ground, casting a layer of green light. I didn't even have the strength to pick up the flashlight to look at the pavement; frankly, I wasn't in the mood for it either. All I could do was gasp for breath and sweat profusely. 0

The noise grew increasingly dense, almost boiling over. It stirred an indescribable agitation within me, as if a hand were teasing my heart, provoking my anger and driving me mad. 0

Unfortunately, it succeeded. 0

I was compelled by an inexplicable force to stand up, my eyes hazy as I looked in one direction. I felt myself moving towards that direction, though it wasn't what I wanted to do. My mind was clear; I felt controlled by some power. At that thought, cold sweat drenched my entire body. 0

Suddenly, the noise in my ears vanished. Yes, the overwhelming stimulation and fear plunged me once again into this strange state. 0

I realized I was walking toward the source of the noise and had already gone quite far, nearing the Wood Chip Dam. Was it these things that might be bats making that sound that disturbed my senses and prompted this irrational behavior? 0

I took a deep look in that direction before turning and walking to the edge of the Underground River. Instead of jumping in, I turned around and adjusted the One-Eyed Beast Flashlight to high beam, directing it toward the source of the noise. 0

In this mysterious state, I wasn't deaf and unable to hear anything; rather, it enhanced a self-regulating function of my body that shielded me from sounds interfering with my judgment. 0

At that moment, the noisy sound vanished. Yet, I could still sense its presence; it lingered in my mind as a form of vibrating waves. It seemed to manifest not on my eardrum but directly within my brain. 0

Through this vibrating sound, I could discern that the creatures were already very close to me, likely appearing in my flashlight. However, despite my wide-open eyes, nothing materialized before me; it felt as if I were facing a group of specters. 0

I was confirming another hypothesis of mine. I couldn't look for results; that was enough. I didn't want to be devoured by a sudden swarm of monsters appearing before me. 0

Taking a deep breath, I turned and jumped into the water. (To Be Continued...) 0
