Fatty ran quickly, like a calf carried by the wind. However, his expression was nothing like that of a calf; it resembled a wolf's. I couldn't tell if he was in pain from running or if he was just furious at being ignored by me. The flesh on his face twisted severely, and his eyes bulged out like those of a cow, but the ferocity emanating from them was anything but bovine. 0

I reached into the backpack in front of me and pulled out two sweet melon grenades. With a sharp click, I released the safety pin and tossed the grenades out like bowling balls. At the same time, I shouted to the Hakka People, "Get down!" 0

However, my shout was unnecessary because someone had already demonstrated what to do. Damn it, everyone except me was already on the ground. 0

Fatty lay on the ground, twisting his head to shout at me, "Are you stupid? You should get down before shouting!" 0

Damn it, who am I shouting for while lying down? 0

But I knew these grenades had a very short delay; there was no time to argue with Fatty. I couldn’t worry about the Hakka People either. Although he had also dropped to the ground, he was too close to the grenades. Even if he wouldn’t be directly injured by the explosion, the shockwave would still be quite uncomfortable for him. 0

As I lay down, a deafening explosion erupted. 0

The space in the Underground Cavern wasn’t particularly large. However, it was almost sealed off; the sound and shockwave from the explosion couldn’t escape. We had no choice but to brace ourselves for impact. I only heard an initial loud bang before my ears went deaf, but other sensations remained—like the feeling of severed limbs and blood splattering onto me. 0

I couldn't lift my head. I had to be wary of large chunks of debris falling on me. I tightly hugged my head and waited for the shockwave to pass. But someone was tougher than me; soon I felt something different from blood and flesh landing on me—hot, it must have been bullet casings ejected from a gun. 0

I hugged my head and looked up to see Jack kneeling on one knee, having finished a magazine and reloading another. The Long-Tailed Monsters across from us were in dire straits; none could stand upright. No more than five could still move, and they stumbled around like drunken men, covered in wounds. The rest, even if they weren’t dead, could only struggle helplessly in place. 0

Jack's second magazine adopted a strategy of picking off the monsters one by one, with each short burst taking down or incapacitating a Long-Tailed Monster. By the time Jack finished this magazine, there were no Long-Tailed Monsters left to threaten us. 0

As soon as Jack's gunfire ceased, Fatty jumped up and ran towards the remaining monster to deliver the finishing blow. At that moment, the Hakka Person wobbled and stood up. He was closest to the explosion's epicenter, and although he had no visible injuries, his eyes told me he was definitely dazed from the blast's shockwave. His body swayed unsteadily, his gaze vacant and unfocused. The most unfortunate thing was that he started to walk in circles, leaning to one side, clearly having lost his balance. 0

Fatty loathed this Hakka Person, clearly believing he had intentionally lured the Long-Tailed Monsters here. He was absolutely intent on killing this Hakka Person. However, my stance was clear. When Fatty signaled me to shoot the Hakka Person, he understood my position. As long as I made my stance clear, Fatty wouldn't act recklessly. 0

But not acting recklessly only meant he wouldn't go for a lethal strike against the Hakka Person; punishing him in some way to vent his frustration posed no psychological burden for Fatty. As Fatty dragged his Straight Blade past the Hakka Person, he kicked him down to the ground. 0

That kick from Fatty was brutal. The Hakka Person had managed to stand despite the shockwave from the explosion, but after being kicked down by Fatty, he lay on the ground convulsing like he was having a seizure, unable to get back up. 0

Fatty brandished his knife and went on a rampage against the writhing Long-Tailed Monsters on the ground, quickly ensuring none of them could move again. I worried that when Fatty returned, he might not be satisfied and give the Hakka Person another kick. I shouted for him not to do anything foolish; although he wouldn't stab the Hakka Person in front of me, another kick would still be enough to hurt him. 0

However, after shouting twice and realizing it was futile, I noticed I couldn't even hear my own voice. Fatty's ears were probably just as deafened now. Gritting my teeth, I stood up and waved my hands at Fatty, making gestures for him to come back. Reluctantly, he circled around the convulsing Hakka Person. From Fatty's expression, it seemed he still intended to give another kick. 0

Before Fatty could return, two figures suddenly appeared in my line of sight, rushing towards the convulsing Hakka Person. It was Tang Yumo and a Hakka Man. Seeing them made my face turn cold uncontrollably; my fingers trembled involuntarily with an urge to draw my weapon. I held back; any impulsive action on my part could amplify Fatty's anger tenfold. 0

Fatty ran over and directly confronted me, his chubby face almost pressed against mine as he shouted loudly, "Why!" 0

Perhaps due to how loud Fatty's voice was, I actually heard him. I certainly understood what he meant; Jack and Xiao Ting must have understood too—except for Lao People who couldn't comprehend Chinese. He was questioning why I hadn't dealt with the Hakka Person who had attracted the Long-Tailed Monsters. 0

But I didn't want to turn against the Hakka Person so quickly—at least not until I figured out their true intentions for coming down into the Underground Cavern. Claiming they were looking for specimens was nonsense; however, something had indeed changed in the Underground Cavern recently. The sudden attack by these Long-Tailed Monsters must have had a reason behind it—what could that reason be? 0

Moreover, judging by the behavior of several Hakka People who had come down with us, they seemed to have anticipated our encounter with the Long-Tailed Monsters. The Fire Oil Bomb tactic appeared more like a preparation for dealing with them rather than targeting Heimanluo. 0

Until we clarified these issues, we would find ourselves in a difficult position with no way back. Tang Yumo and her companions were resolute; they likely wouldn’t turn back until their mission was completed. If they didn’t turn back, we would have no choice but to accompany them underground. 0

The true purpose of their journey was crucial. What worried and puzzled me was that their mission seemed impossible, which could lead to tragedy. My plan was to extract the information we needed from them before deciding on our next course of action. 0

Fatty ’s exaggerated face loomed in front of me, seemingly intent on digging deeper, even willing to duel me if necessary. I found his antics tiresome; he had been scaring me for years. Back in school, I was genuinely intimidated by that expression, and now it still managed to frighten me. I grew up being scared, you know. 0

I pushed Fatty, but he didn’t budge. I had no choice but to step back myself. 0

Wiping away the spit he had sprayed on my face, I said, “Your breath has gotten worse.” 0

Fatty spat on the ground. “Let’s get serious.” 0

I tilted my head to glance behind Fatty, where Tang Yumo and Hakka Man were helping another Hakka People member approach us. 0

As I turned back, I hid my face behind Fatty and mouthed to him: ‘Keep an eye on that masked one. Follow my signal. And remember, we need him alive; otherwise, we won’t get out of here.’ 0
