I didn't know if it was the light of emotion or the gaze of someone spying, waiting for a chance to escape while preparing. I had no intention of finding out. 0

I had to harden my heart and make it cold so that when Tang Yumo took actions that could endanger us, I could stop her without hesitation. Sometimes, stopping someone could lead to serious consequences and harm. I had to be ruthless about this. I couldn't compare myself to Fatty; he had no psychological burden when doing such things. 0

For instance, if she were to jump up and run away at this moment, her intention would certainly not be to help us fend off Heimanluo or any other danger, but rather the opposite. 0

I covered Tang Yumo with a jacket and then sat down about a meter above her head. From this position, she couldn't see me and wouldn't be able to observe what the night watchman was doing, which would deter her from acting rashly. 0

"What's the point? Didn't I give you a gun? Why be so cautious? If you're really worried, just tie her up," Fatty said, facing me. He saw my actions and understood my intentions, unable to resist mocking me. 0

Who could shoot at someone without a care like you? Fortunately, Fatty quickly fell asleep; as soon as he finished speaking, his snoring filled the air. Otherwise, who knew what unpleasant remarks would come out of his mouth? 0

To cut off Tang Yumo's thoughts, I took out my pistol and with a click, chambered a round. That crisp sound should have reached Tang Yumo's ears. 0

Yes, the sound of a bullet being chambered was a hundred times more effective than my words or any other actions. When I woke Tang Yumo, she remained in that sleeping position and seemed deeply asleep. 0

The first one to wake up was Jack; he was stirred by the rumbling sound coming from my stomach. 0

After hearing my suggestion to eat something, Jack glanced at his watch. "It's not time yet; the food ration for twenty-four hours has already been consumed. We’ll have to wait until eight o'clock for something to eat." 0

While they were asleep, I checked the backpack by the light of a glow stick. Of course, my main focus was on checking the remaining weapons. I still had three flares, two incendiary grenades, and two regular grenades left, along with plenty of pistol ammunition. This equipment might not be enough to destroy the Eternal Gate unless it was made of wood. 0

If our food was rationed at the minimum standard, it could last us three more days. I was relatively optimistic about this; I didn't believe we would reach our destination in just three days. Most importantly, I didn't think this underground space could be so vast without reason. 0

I tightened my belt one notch and shrugged. "No problem. I can hold on." 0

Fatty chuckled. "With this build, I have the advantage. I could go without food, and I wouldn't starve even after eighteen days." 0

"What about water?" I shot back at him. 0

We only had one flask of water. I could manage three to five days without food, but without water, it would be over. 0

Fatty grimaced and cursed, "Damn, I forgot about that." 0

I took the jacket that Tang Yumo handed me and put it on. The warmth and scent of the girl made me feel slightly intoxicated. 0

I silently pressed down my restless heart. After everyone took a sip from the flask, we set off again. 0

This time we moved a bit faster, mainly because those behind us had gotten some rest and could keep up with my pace. We walked for a full eight hours, and when it was time to eat, Jack called for a stop. 0

Although the hunger was intense, confusion and fear were even stronger, a palpable anxiety weighing heavily on my shoulders. 0

A piece of roasted meat was cut into four portions, one for each of us. The four of us gathered together under the dim light of the Glow Stick, eating with expressionless faces that looked terrifying. I dared not look for long; each face illuminated by the Glow Stick resembled that of a zombie, making it impossible to have any appetite. 0

In truth, even if I didn’t look at those zombie-like faces, I still lacked the appetite or mood to eat. I forced myself to shove food into my mouth just to maintain my strength. 0

We had been walking intermittently for fourteen hours now, including the initial six hours of desperate running. In such a vast space with no supporting structures existing underground, this defied modern physics in every way. 0

After finishing our meal, the four of us sat in silence, not moving. Perhaps we were tired, or maybe we were all lost in our own confusion and fear. 0

"Throw a Flare; I want to see what that thing is. It should be close by," I said, nodding towards Fatty. 0

Fatty patted his pockets. "I have one incendiary grenade and a Grenade. You still have a Flare, right?" 0

I pulled a Flare from my backpack and handed it to Fatty. 0

He took it and returned the favor with a Grenade and an incendiary grenade. "Just keep these in your bag." 0

"Leave them with you. Don't put everything on me; if something happens, we won't have time to react." 0

Fatty nodded and stood up. "Alright. Make sure to see what that really is." 0

With that, Fatty swung his arm and threw the incendiary grenade into the air. 0

'Bang!' 0

As the incendiary grenade exploded, those sitting on the ground involuntarily stood up. The bright light illuminated everyone's faces, washing away the zombie-like pallor but leaving them ghostly pale. 0

My gaze immediately shifted upwards. At this moment, my confusion about this vast, unreasonable underground space surpassed my curiosity about the Protrusion. I couldn't believe it could be infinitely high and wide, nor could I accept that it existed beyond the laws of Physics. 0

The intense brightness of the Flare lit up a large area in the air. Yet higher up, it remained pitch black. The Ceiling was invisible, seemingly stretching infinitely high. 0

My heart twitched painfully. I lowered my gaze towards the direction of the Protrusion. 0

In the far distance, there was a vague rectangular Protrusion, resembling a door lying sideways on the ground. Its shape, size, and even clarity were exactly as I remembered from the first time I saw it. I stared intently at the Protrusion, my right hand instinctively reaching for something, but after just a slight movement of my fingers, I stopped. 0

I wanted to pull out the telescope, hoping it might enhance the clarity of the Protrusion. However, our only telescope was in Jack's backpack, which should now have been confiscated by Heimanluo. 0

I noticed Jack crouching down to make a mark on the ground. Tang Yumo stood beside me, and I could see that her face looked equally grim, though her eyes sparkled with an unusual light. 0

At that moment, my heart felt exceptionally heavy, as if I were sinking into hell. I recalled Fatty's words: we were lost. 0

We had gotten lost despite having a clear target! 0

I turned around, and under the bright light of the Flare, I couldn't see the stone wall that towered endlessly in height and width, nor could I find the passage through which we had entered. 0

We had been moving in a straight line for fourteen hours; it was inevitable that we were far from that stone wall. 0

However, at this moment, we were deep within this vast space, with no other reference points except for the Protrusion that seemed eternally out of reach. 0
