"This Sand Table Model is considered a significant lead for ae, especially since there is so little information coming out of Lop Nur. This Sand Table Model should be one of the few highlights in the exploration of Lop Nur over the past few years. Therefore, the restoration work on the Sand Table Model has been arranged at a large project base established by ae in Nevada." 0

"What project?" I blurted out. But seeing no reaction from across the table, I couldn't make a more specific judgment about Jack's expression, hidden as it was. I could only mutter in frustration, "Forget it, let's focus on the main point." 0

To my surprise, Jack took the initiative to elaborate. "A Large Hadron Collider. It belongs to the United States Government, but ae has usage rights. Currently, ae's main focus is concentrated there." 0

"So, ae belongs to the United States Government?" 0

"No, I can clarify that for you. We only have one project where we serve the United States Government. It's an employment relationship, not a subordinate one." 0

"Is there a difference?" 0

"There is, and it's significant. We are absolutely responsible and confidential regarding this government service project; for other projects, our service target is all of humanity. That is the mission of ae. Compared to my country, human civilization is greater." 0

Jack's words left me somewhat bewildered; it seemed like too grand a proposition for me to grasp. Spirit of Lei Feng? Superhuman qualities? Starting Point was too low; I felt only God could possess such qualities. This was a love for Earth’s civilization. 0

"Jack, I'm not that altruistic; my thoughts are quite narrow. I can't accept or understand your lofty goal of serving all humanity right now. Let's steer the conversation back to the Sand Table Model instead; otherwise, I can't wrap my head around it." 0

"Zhang. You can do it." 0

I decisively pressed both hands down in a stopping gesture. "Let's end this topic. What I want to know is about the Sand Table Model." 0

I saw Jack nod. The only visible response from him was this large and obvious body movement. 0

"When the Sand Table Model was completed, there was an underground high-energy explosion test conducted near the base. The yield wasn't very large—equivalent to that of a small nuclear bomb." 0

At this point, Jack paused and leaned forward from the darkness to look at me. "What do you think happened?" 0

I was still mulling over his earlier statement: it was equivalent to a nuclear bomb and yet he said it wasn't very large—what would be considered large then? 0

"Um," I pondered for a moment. "How could I guess? Did you blow up the Sand Table Model? No way; is your experimental safety factor that low?" 0
Jack's eyes were fixed on me as he slowly shook his head. The motion was strange, as if his eyeballs were glued in place while his head swung like a pendulum. 0

"The experiment failed. The immense energy generated by the explosion vanished in an instant. No, that's not accurate; the data recorded and the visuals observed show that the explosive material suddenly disappeared at the moment of detonation. However, simultaneously, there was a massive release of energy in the area where the Sand Table Model was located." 0

"How close were they? I'm referring to the explosion test site and the location of the Sand Table Model." 0

"How is that possible? The Sand Table Model is within the base, which houses one of the largest Particle Colliders in the world. No one would allow it to be destroyed. Although the U.S. has strict capital punishment laws, destroying a Particle Collider would likely lead to drowning in a sea of outrage. And we are already close to being overwhelmed by that outrage." 0

"You blew up the Particle Collider?" 0

"Yours is worse; it's damaged. That has already put us in a precarious situation. If it were truly destroyed, someone would have to take the fall for it to quell certain people's anger. This matter has been investigated by Area 51, but no conclusions have been reached." 0

"Area 51?! Your base is in Area 51?" Upon hearing Jack mention this, especially those three words, a question suddenly popped into my mind, and I blurted it out. The infamous Area 51 is located in Nevada. 0

"No! How could that be? Our base is also in a desert, but it's not a military restricted zone; it's semi-public. Physicists from Europe and America frequently participate in our scientific experiments. If you go there, I can take you on a tour." 0

Despite Jack's earnest explanation, I still felt unsettled. 0

Over the past few years, I had become mentally and physically exhausted from the mysterious events encountered at Lop Nur; I was genuinely afraid deep down. Hearing Jack mention Area 51 felt like he was splashing me with murky waters from America's mysterious incidents, and my inner fear was palpable. If I hadn't been confused about some information, I might have turned around and walked away. 0

"That's fine; just don't bring up Area 51. I've already made it onto the Chinese Military's blacklist and don't want to be under heightened scrutiny from the United States Military as well. In that case, if something happens to me, there would be no place to cry for injustice, and I'd probably still be clueless about who was responsible for my demise." 0

Jack shrugged and retreated his face into the shadows. "I'm sorry, but you are already being monitored by the United States Military." 0

"Damn it. Can I cancel that monitoring?" 0

"You think it's as simple as just clicking 'unsubscribe'?" 0

Even though I couldn't see Jack's expression, I could sense his disdain. 0

"The initial investigation did not focus on the Sand Table Model; it's true that the Sand Table Model was destroyed, but the area where it was located is vast and not completely obliterated. There are several other projects there, including control systems for the Particle Collider and communication systems. The experiments conducted at the Particle Collider could potentially lead to some incredible events, so initially, the investigation was directed toward the Particle Collider." 0

However, during that period, specifically before the underground explosion experiment, the Particle Collider was in a shutdown state. This means that at least the current experiments of the Particle Collider could not have caused the damage from the underground explosion experiment. We could only trace back to the recent experiments conducted by the Particle Collider. 0

At that moment, something went wrong in your shop. Unfortunately, we do not have any on-site footage; we only have verbal accounts and images taken afterward. But that is enough to redirect our investigation in the right direction. 0

Soon, we reached the conclusion that the center of energy release was located at the Sand Table Model. 0

The experiments conducted by the Particle Collider had never produced such a significant anomaly, especially while it was shut down; the likelihood of such a mysterious event occurring was almost negligible. 0

The investigation into the energy release was much more intriguing. The energy was released in a highly concentrated manner, seemingly compressed and suddenly released at a single point. Of course, this resulted in greater destruction. Fortunately, since the energy release occurred underground, the damage to the strata was not too severe; otherwise, the Particle Collider would have suffered even more significant damage. 0

"But what does this have to do with my Sand Table Model? I still don't understand." 0

Jack emerged from the shadows. "Our conclusion is that the Sand Table Model is an Energy Matrix." (To Be Continued...) 0
