So, I flew towards that light. 0

There was no hesitation, no doubt; it felt completely natural and inevitable. I was meant to fly towards it; I was born to fly. 0

In my eyes, there was only that gentle orb of light; everything else faded away and became unimportant. 0

There was not a trace of fear in my heart, and my body felt an unprecedented comfort, free from any pain or discomfort. All I could think about was reaching the light as quickly as possible to see that Perfect World. 0

The light seemed close at hand, but as I flew towards it, I realized it was quite far away. However, its allure was immense, and my speed increased as I approached it. Filled with overwhelming happiness, I soared towards the Perfect World. 0

Suddenly, my body grew heavy. The light and its pull on me weakened simultaneously. I continued to exert all my effort to reach it, but it seemed to change or move away from me. 0

The longing for the light and happiness made me stretch out my hands to grasp it. Yet, I did not catch it; instead, I encountered a pain I had never experienced before and had never anticipated. 0

"Ah!" 0

I nearly pierced my eardrums with my own scream. Darkness descended, taking away the light that had brought me hope and happiness. 0

I felt a stretcher being placed on the Ground, as my back pressed against the hard Ground. I saw many faces above me, along with my own hands. 0

I noticed my hands curling like chicken claws towards my palms, yet they did not form fists; they looked as if they wanted to scratch someone or grasp something. 0

But I knew it was Severe Pain, indescribable and sudden Severe Pain, rendering all my movements frozen and out of control. Even my thoughts. 0

The pain radiated from every part of my body, from every nerve ending. It felt as if every cell had burst open, like countless grains of salt were poured into every wound on my body. 0

And I had to endure this suffering; even death eluded me, and self-protection was impossible. My mind was alarmingly clear; I longed to lose consciousness. But I could not. In this extreme agony and stimulation, the human body's self-hibernation mechanism failed at this moment within me. 0
"What happened to him? Can he still hold on?" I saw Cao Mingzhe's face close to me as he shouted. 0

Jack's face appeared. He pressed down my raised hands. He opened my shirt to take a look, then leaned over me, using the One-Eyed Beast Flashlight to blind me. 0

I couldn't close my eyes; all I could do was breathe. Even that was barely audible, and the air entering my lungs brought not relief but a burning sensation like fire. 0

After a moment, the One-Eyed Beast Flashlight was extinguished or moved away. I had gone blind, only able to sense the darkness returning before my eyes, unable to see anything—no faces, no light. 0

"The injury has flared up; it seems that a large amount of blood has accumulated in his abdomen, causing him severe pain. However, his cries are strong; he won't die anytime soon," Jack's voice said. 0

"Can we give him something for the pain? Suffering takes too much energy. I'm worried he won't make it to our destination." 0

Hearing Cao Mingzhe's words made me want to cry. You are my Brother. 0

"No. We have no painkillers or sedatives. He just has to endure." 0

"End of rest. No more breaks on the road ahead. I'll lead in front, and those carrying the stretcher will take turns behind. Everyone must share the burden, including you and Tang Yumo." The voice paused here; I felt it was Xiao Ting and Tang Yumo. 0

Having the two girls carry the stretcher while keeping up with Cao Mingzhe's pace was a bit much. 0

"One principle: we must reach Eternal Gate in the shortest time possible. Otherwise, we have no way out. We'll all die here!" 0

Cao Mingzhe's concluding words were powerful and convincing. I immediately felt the stretcher moving quickly again; although it was still unstable, the speed did not seem to slow down. 0

They had been running for quite a while now. Maintaining this speed was incredibly difficult for them. 0

My reflections and listening did not last long. In truth, I wanted to distract myself from the pain by tuning into various sounds, but it was impossible. The severe pain pierced deep into my soul, clear as day under my heightened perception. It made me wish for death or transcendence. 0

Because my mind was so clear, it didn’t take long for me to realize that the pain wasn’t caused by my injuries. 0

My main injuries came from a fractured right hand and a stab wound in my abdomen. The bruises and contusions were neither fatal nor did they drive me to despair. 0

Yet the pain I felt now wasn’t localized; it radiated throughout my entire body. The most obvious and lethal stab wound didn’t hurt particularly much. There was no pain in my face or back, nor was there any sensation of relief in those areas. 0

I recalled the words of Xiao Guolin regarding the transformation of energy absorption. 0

He had said that changing the way one absorbs energy—from deriving it from food to drawing it from the surrounding space—would be a painful process. 0

However, he also mentioned that this transformation required one’s own energy or heat to deplete to a certain threshold before it could occur. In terms of time, I hadn’t consumed enough of my own energy and heat yet; I was far from exhausting my reserves. 0

Having experienced life-or-death situations before, I knew my physical limits. Although pain and hunger were assaulting me from both sides, the energy stored in my body had not been fully depleted. The process of converting fat into heat had only just begun. 0

Could it be that my injuries accelerated this process? Pain and injury undoubtedly hasten energy consumption. 0

Aside from the transformation of energy absorption, I had no other explanation for the suffering I was enduring. Yet I felt incredibly frustrated by this predicament. 0

If there were any chance of survival, enduring this torment would be worthwhile. But given my current injuries, merely holding on until reaching the Eternal Gate—or even just taking another breath—felt like a stroke of luck. Honestly, every breath could very well be my last. 0

To suffer like this before dying, I couldn’t even be sure if I was unjustly perishing or simply succumbing to the blade. 0

Moreover, the transformation of energy absorption felt like the last straw that broke the camel's back, dragging both my body and spirit down into extreme agony… sinking… sinking… 0

The destination is... hell. 0

I feel like I can never reach the hall. I never thought that pain could have weight; those who have never endured extreme pain may never truly understand my situation. 0

Only those who have had similar experiences can resonate with me. 0

But are there really people in this world who have gone through similar experiences? Of course, aside from Xiao Guolin. 0

My body feels heavier and heavier; this is my own sensation. I cannot comprehend what it feels like for those carrying the stretcher. 0

However, my mind is very clear. The clearer it becomes, the more painful it is; the more painful it is, the clearer it becomes. 0

In the midst of pain and clarity, I see the faces of those carrying the stretcher changing continuously. Sometimes it's A San, sometimes it's a warrior, sometimes it's two people—either Xiao Ting and Tang Yumo, or A-Yong and Xiao Ting. 0

This is not a dream or a hallucination; I see things now. My vision has returned. I can even hear sounds. 0
