Qingling lowered her head, silent, her eyes reflecting a complex mix of emotions as if she were deep in thought. 0

"Yannian, do you already know?" But it was too late; there was no turning back. After all these years, it was far too late. 0

"If you don’t speak, I’ll take it as your agreement," Zhang Yanniann said. "Wait for me a moment while I pack our things. We’re leaving today." With that, he flipped around and dashed out, his steps light and filled with excitement. 0

Qingling hurried after him, trying to catch up, but she couldn’t match his pace. 0

As she turned around, she saw Xia Yinqiu standing outside another gate. Xia Yinqiu approached with a fierce demeanor, her eyes blazing with anger as she fixed a hard stare on Qingling. 0

"I’ve uncovered your secret," Xia Yinqiu declared, raising the letter in her hand, the paper rustling ominously in the wind. "If you get lost now, I might just keep this from Yannian!" 0

Qingling glared at Xia Yinqiu’s smug face, anger flashing in her eyes. Suddenly, she lunged forward, gripping Xia Yinqiu's throat tightly with her fingers, gradually applying pressure as hatred filled her gaze. 0

Leaning closer to Xia Yinqiu, she hissed through clenched teeth, "You may not get that chance." 0

Xia Yinqiu's eyes widened in shock as she glanced behind Qingling, fear flickering across her face. Turning around, she saw a figure emerging from the shade of the trees outside—the sinister grin of Lin Yuanqi sent chills down her spine as his face came into view. 0

"Just in time; kill her," Qingling commanded forcefully, shoving Xia Yinqiu to the ground. Xia Yinqiu let out a startled cry as she fell. 0

Qingling turned away triumphantly but hadn’t steadied herself when a gunshot rang out. A sharp pain pierced her abdomen; disbelief filled her eyes as she stared at Lin Yuanqi. He stood there with an arched eyebrow, his gaze cold and indifferent. 0

Xia Yinqiu got to her feet, brushing off the dirt from her clothes. She circled around to face Qingling again, a triumphant smirk on her lips and mockery gleaming in her eyes. 0

"More than ten years ago, I could make the Cheng Family disappear, and now, I can make you disappear too," she said, laughing recklessly, her laughter laced with malice. 0

Her words struck like a bolt from the blue, leaving Qingling in disbelief. She widened her eyes and shook her head repeatedly, shock and pain filling her gaze. 0

"You were the one who framed my entire family?!" Qingling struggled to crawl toward Lin Yuanqi, leaving a trail of crimson blood on the ground, a horrifying sight. 0

"You told me that Master Zhang had planted evidence of treason on my parents," Lin Yuanqi stepped forward, his slow and triumphant strides bringing him closer to Qingling. He lifted her chin with a look of contempt in his eyes. "Who told you to be so gullible? You believed everything I said and foolishly played the spy. It worked out well for me; without you, I wouldn't have been able to obtain the Xia Family's military power so effortlessly." 0

He spoke with pride, glancing at Xia Yinqiu with a hint of admiration. 0

"So that's how it is..." A deep voice suddenly interrupted from behind them. They turned alertly to see Zhang Yanniann standing at the gate, staring blankly in their direction, shock and pain evident in her eyes. 0

Xia Yinqiu rushed over and grabbed Zhang Yanniann's sleeve, panic in her gaze. "Yannian, listen to me! This woman has been plotting revenge against you..." 0

Before she could finish, Zhang Yanniann slapped her hard across the face, the force turning Xia Yinqiu's head to the side. "How dare you hit me? You actually struck me for this woman?" 0

Xia Yinqiu stared at Zhang Yanniann in disbelief, her eyes filled with grievance and anger. But he no longer looked at her; instead, he walked straight to Qingling, lifting her up and holding her tightly in his arms, tears shimmering in his eyes. 0

"I knew it from the moment Lin Yuanqi arrived; when he looked at you, I realized you two knew each other." 0

Zhang Yanniann's voice trembled slightly as he pressed his hand against Qingling's abdomen, trying to stem the flow of blood that continued to seep through his fingers. Despair filled his gaze. 0

"I have never cared for this Country. I have been barely surviving in the the Xia Family for over a decade, just trying to stay alive until you return." 0
