At the entrance of the police station, Xiao Tsuyi stumbled out, looking disheveled. His clothes were somewhat tattered, and his hair was in disarray. 0

Meanwhile, Shen Tingyu had already received the news and was waiting there. Upon seeing him, she rushed over with tears in her eyes, tightly wrapping her arms around his waist, her body trembling slightly as she cried like a rain-soaked pear blossom. 0

"It's okay, I'm out now, right?" He gently patted Shen Tingyu's back, trying to comfort her with a smile that barely touched his lips. 0

"Ziyi, save me, save me..." 0

Just then, a faint whisper made Xiao Tsuyi turn abruptly. Su Yau stood at the doorway, wearing nothing but an oversized Constable uniform. The collar revealed her pale neck, marred by shocking bruises and scars. Her long white legs wobbled unsteadily beneath her, a crimson streak of blood trailing down from her inner thigh to her ankle. Her eyes were vacant, and her body swayed precariously. 0

"Su Yau—" Xiao Tsuyi shouted, veins bulging on his forehead. He rushed forward in a blur of speed and caught her as she began to fall, holding her tightly in his arms, fear and anguish flooding his eyes. 0

When Su Yau awoke, she found herself beside that familiar handsome face filled with affection. He called her name softly, concern etched in his features. 0

But she stared at him with confusion and terror, instinctively shrinking away from him, her eyes filled with fear. 0

"Su Yau, don't be afraid. It's Ziyi. It's me, Ziyi!" He spoke gently, trying to approach her with tenderness in his gaze. Yet she continued to retreat in fright, her expression vacant and lost, like a doll drained of its spirit, trembling uncontrollably. 0

"I'm so useless. Su Yau, it's my fault that you suffered." Xiao Tsuyi slapped himself across the face in self-reproach; the sound echoed sharply as a red mark immediately appeared on his cheek. 0

This startled Su Yau even more. She muttered repeatedly, "Don't touch me, don't touch me..." curling up into a ball as terror radiated from her eyes. 0

Xiao Tsuyi looked at her helplessly; he had never felt so powerless before. It was as if countless daggers were stabbing at his heart, causing excruciating pain. His brows furrowed deeply as tears shimmered in his eyes. 0
Every night thereafter, she would be plagued by nightmares, constantly crying out, "Ziyi, save me, save me!" 0

Her body trembled in her sleep, her brows furrowed, and her face was filled with terror. 0

During these moments, he would be overwhelmed by guilt and self-reproach, unable to sleep. Lying in bed with his eyes wide open, he stared at the ceiling, images of Su Yau's suffering flooding his mind. He loathed his own helplessness; not only could he not save her, but he also forced her to sacrifice herself for him. His fists clenched unconsciously. 0

"Ziyi..." He could distinctly feel her shivering in his arms and tightened his embrace around her, wanting her to feel his presence, to no longer feel alone or afraid. There was a glimmer of determination in his eyes. 0

It seemed he had truly fallen in love with her. 0

He couldn't recall exactly when it began. All he knew was that he hadn't thought of the woman named Shen Tingyu for a long time; now his heart was solely occupied by this kind and innocent girl in his arms. He looked at Su Yau with eyes full of affection. 0

"Yao'er, I will take care of you for the rest of my life. I will never let anyone bully you again." He whispered promises softly into her ear, his gaze gentle. 0

In the darkness of the night, what went unseen were her eyes filled with sorrow and tears of happiness that fell down her cheeks, soaking the pillow. 0

From then on, Su Yau no longer smiled or spoke much. 0

She would sit motionless on the balcony every day from sunrise to sunset, staring blankly into the distance as if everything around her was irrelevant. 0

This behavior made Xiao Tsuyi feel a bit frightened. Thus, the usually quiet man began to desperately seek words to say to her. He sat beside her, worry evident in his eyes as his lips moved slightly, yet he didn’t know what to say. 0

However, he dared not make it too obvious because Su Yau's extreme pride would lead her to think he was pitying her rather than truly loving her. His brows furrowed slightly as a hint of helplessness flickered in his eyes. 0

However, such careful flattery and attentive care ultimately led to her outburst one night. 0
