"Why did you really jump?" Ling Yuanyuan said, gently caressing his face, her fingers lightly brushing against the wound, her eyes filled with worry and concern.
"I thought you would catch me. Did you really let me jump?" Feng Yunge replied, affectionately patting her head, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, revealing a hint of bitter amusement.
"You’re so silly," Ling Yuanyuan said, a shy smile breaking across her face as her cheeks flushed slightly.
Feng Yunge was momentarily captivated by the rosy hue on her cheeks. Unable to help himself, he pulled her into a tight embrace, as if afraid of losing her.
The two of them held each other closely for a while before suddenly remembering Ling Qian.
It dawned on them that since they had exited the cave, they had no idea where he had gone.
"Oh no, do you think Master might have been taken by your Master?" Ling Yuanyuan said anxiously, her brows furrowing and her eyes filled with worry.
"You're only concerned about him," Feng Yunge replied, a hint of jealousy creeping into his voice as he pouted slightly, his gaze tinged with dissatisfaction.
"He's my Master," Ling Yuanyuan shot him a playful glare, though there was an air of helplessness in her expression.
The two searched all over Qianjue Mountain but found no trace of Ling Qian. Their eyes were filled with urgency as they scoured the mountain.
Finally, Feng Yunge slapped his forehead. "What if he went to my Master's place?"
As they recalled previous events, Liniang had once taught Feng Yunge how to pretend to be paralyzed to get close to Ling Qian. It seemed there was quite a connection between them. Before arriving at Qianjue Mountain, Ling Qian had even fasted and bathed; surely he must have guessed that Liniang was here. But what story lay between them?
Liniang lived in a deep bamboo valley beneath Qianjue Mountain, and when they went to find her, they indeed discovered Ling Qian. He was busy building a house next to Liniang's dwelling.
Ling Qian's eyes sparkled with a smile that Ling Yuanyuan had never seen before. He was diligently constructing a bamboo shelter, skillfully handling the bamboo with calmness and joy, while Liniang remained behind closed doors.
"Master, what are you doing? Let's go back," Ling Yuanyuan called out, her voice tinged with confusion.
"I'm not going back, Yuanyuan. I want to stay here; the clinic is yours now," Ling Qian replied with a smile, his face reflecting a sense of relief and contentment.
Ling Yuanyuan and Feng Yunge leaned against the fence, glancing from Liniang's side to Ling Qian's.
"What kind of story do those two have?"
Feng Yunge shook his head, his eyes filled with bewilderment.
Ling Yuanyuan also shook her head, her heart brimming with curiosity.
After that, no matter how many questions Ling Yuanyuan asked, Ling Qian remained silent. He focused intently on his work, ignoring them completely.
"Forget it; maybe they don't want outsiders to know their story," Feng Yunge said as he tightly grasped Ling Yuanyuan's hand, holding it firmly as if afraid she might run away. "Let's go back to the clinic."
Ling Yuanyuan was still unwilling to give up.
"Master, just answer me one last question. Why is your clinic called Yuan Yuan Medical Clinic?"
"Because," Ling Qian paused for a moment, stopping his actions. "I had a daughter with Liniang, named Yuanyuan."
As Ling Qian spoke, they noticed the curtains of Liniang's room flutter slightly, as if the person inside was touched by deep emotions.
So that was it; he took her in and always regarded her as his child simply because she shared the same name as their daughter!
"Master, then I wish you good luck!" Ling Yuanyuan said with a relieved smile, taking Feng Yunge's hand, her face reflecting a sense of ease and resolution.
