He chased me to the company, pleading in every possible way, and I finally agreed to give him another chance. That night, we found ourselves entangled once again. Just as we were about to take the final step, Zheng Lingxin suppressed his desire and said, "Baby, just hold on a little longer."
"Once we get our marriage certificate, I'll give you all of myself."
I pretended not to understand. "Why?"
He bit my earlobe and replied, "Because I want to give you the best experience."
That night, we fell asleep in each other's arms. I had a dream where I gave birth to a beautiful daughter. I wanted to see what the child's father looked like, but the man was covered in blood and had no head. I woke up in a cold sweat from the fright.
When I opened my eyes, I found my pillow soaked. My eyes were dry and uncomfortable; I realized I had forgotten to take off my contact lenses.
I went to the bathroom, and when I came out, I heard Zheng Lingxin on the phone.
"Mom, don't worry, this time it's really top-notch. I'll bring her home for you to see soon."
"I know; once you see her, you'll understand. She'll definitely satisfy you."
"Okay, I'll listen to you."
A chill ran down my spine; I hadn't expected Zheng Lingxin to be such a creep. The previous girlfriends he had dated were all lured back to his hometown and ended up being sold by traffickers. However, I was no ordinary person anymore; he didn't need to worry about me running away.
"Xiao Yue, let's go home tomorrow," Zheng Lingxin said as he finished his call and walked over to me.
I nodded. "Sure, you drive."
Driving in the mountains is more convenient than taking the train.
He held my hand and said, "Can I borrow your car?"
"Sure."
I didn't mind; after all, I didn't like driving.
Zheng Lingxin's rented house was in the suburbs, and we had to return to his home tomorrow, so we needed to set off tonight.
"When will we be back?"
Zheng Lingxin hugged me and replied, "It depends. If everything goes smoothly, we should be back in a week."
"What will you do if everything goes smoothly?"
"Nothing much," he said, his eyes flickering. "I mean, nothing important."
"Oh."
I knew he was lying.
But since he wouldn't say more, I didn't press him.
All I needed to know was that the next few days would be quite "delicious."
Zheng Lingxin and I drove to his hometown, a mountain village in the central province.
On the way, Zheng Lingxin wore a hat, mask, and sunglasses, afraid that the surveillance cameras would capture his face.
I teased him on purpose, "Are you that worried?"
He held me tightly and confessed, "Xiao Yue, I'm a bit nervous."
"Nervous about what?"
"I'm afraid that when you meet my family, you won't like me anymore."
"You're overthinking it."
I lazily yawned and added, "As long as you don't make me angry, I won't dislike your family."
"That's good," he sighed in relief.
"But I need to remind you of something."
He looked at me nervously and asked, "What is it?"
"I want to open the window and feel the breeze."
"No way," he replied without a second thought. "You get car sick on trains; opening the window will make it worse."
"But I want some fresh air."
"Then I'll blow it for you."
He took off his jacket, wearing only a tank top, and opened the window, letting me lean against his chest.
The wind was a bit strong, so I closed my eyes. "Zheng Lingxin, don't stop; keep driving."
"Okay."
He responded gently, occasionally shifting positions to help me feel the wind better.
Halfway through, he suddenly spoke up. "Xiao Yue, please don't tell your family or mine about us, okay?"
I feigned ignorance. "Why not?"
"I'm afraid they won't approve."
"They won't mind; we're both single, it's perfectly normal for us to be together."
"I'm worried they won't accept it."
"Trust me, it'll be fine."
I reassured him with my words while secretly laughing inside.
Of course, I wouldn't tell them that soon I would be having some indescribable experiences with Zheng Lingxin.
