Early in the morning, as the first light of dawn broke, he had already hurried off to the Zhou Family Rice Shop, his steps quick and without a word to her. 0

Wan Xia endured the ache in her body as she struggled to rise from bed. Her movements were slow and laborious. After finishing breakfast, she took a stroll in the courtyard, feeling quite cheerful. Spotting a beautiful butterfly, she playfully chased after it, her steps light and airy. In her distraction, she bumped into someone coming towards her. 0

"I'm so sorry," Wan Xia repeatedly apologized. The girl merely greeted her coldly, addressing her not as "Madam" like those in the household but as "Miss Jiang." 0

Wan Xia recognized her; she was Fang Xiulan, the daughter of Butler Fang. In their childhood, Xiulan had been quite domineering, and both Shiyu and Wan Xia had avoided playing with her, leaving only Zhou Tangyan willing to engage with her. 0

"Xiulan, do you really dislike me?" Wan Xia asked curiously about her indifference, unable to hold back as she looked at her with a hint of confusion in her eyes. 0

"I never said that. I just don't like you. Don't you know I really like Jun Ge? We have mutual feelings for each other, yet you shamelessly..." 0

At this point, Xiulan seemed to realize she had gone too far and paused briefly before continuing, "Yet you were the one shouting for Brother Yan to marry you at the wedding hall. But all this will soon come to an end; he will still love me wholeheartedly." Fang Xiulan crossed her arms defiantly. 0

After saying this, Xiulan did not look back at Wan Xia but hurriedly ran off with an account book in hand, her steps quick and forceful. Wan Xia stood there in shock; she had never known he had someone he liked. She thought that if she tried hard enough and treated him well, he would come to like her. It seemed she was mistaken; disappointment and confusion filled her eyes as her body swayed slightly. 0

A thought began to form in Wan Xia's mind—one she had hesitated over for months before deciding to voice it. 0

One evening, Zhou Tangyan returned from the rice shop and found Wan Xia sitting by the tea table. She approached him, seemingly wanting to say something but hesitating, which made Zhou Tangyan smile inwardly as a slight grin appeared on his lips. 0

"Just say what you need to say!" He couldn't bear to tease her any longer and softened his tone. 0

"I... I want to help you take a concubine. I know you really like Xiulan; I can assist you," she stammered, nervously twisting the hem of her clothes while lowering her head. 0

He had not yet reacted, staring at her for a while before realizing she was not joking. "Why?" 0

Frowning, he stepped closer to her, not giving her any chance to evade him, his gaze fixed intently on her. 0

"I know you like her, and I can help you." She looked at him sincerely, her eyes filled with genuine hope that this decision would make him happy, allowing her to quietly stay by his side with a hint of expectation on her face. 0

"Since you care about me so much, how could I refuse? However, what I want now is not to take a concubine, but to—divorce my wife." He spoke to her slowly, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth, yet his eyes revealed a hint of coldness. 0

Initially, he had hesitated over Fang Xiulan's suggestion, but now it seemed he had overthought it; she was eager to push him away, which irritated him. 0

The sudden news struck her like a blow, causing her to stagger back two steps. Her legs weakened as she leaned against the edge of the table, trembling as she asked, "Why?" Wan Xia's voice quivered with tears welling in her eyes. 0

Seeing the desolation and sorrow on her face stirred a sense of vindictive pleasure within him. He did not respond to her question but walked heavily into the study. When he returned, he held a thin piece of paper in his hand. The words "Divorce Letter" were glaringly visible, causing a sharp pain in her eyes and making her body tremble even more violently. 0

"You've wanted to do this all along, haven't you?" She looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears. With a gentle blink, the tears cascaded down her cheeks. 0

"Yes." He ignored her tears; although he felt pain and reluctance in his heart, he still let hurtful words slip from his lips, a flicker of anguish crossing his gaze. 0

"I understand. But I have one request." She raised a hand to wipe away her tears and suddenly spoke up, rubbing her face awkwardly. 0

He cast a disdainful glance at her. He had once thought she was different from those vain women; now it seemed he had overestimated her, contempt flickering in his eyes. 0

"What do you want?" 0

She lowered her head, feeling a bit embarrassed. After a moment, she raised her face again, her voice choked with emotion as she continued, "Give me a child." 0
