Chen Yan held the items his grandmother had given to the little one and, after bidding her farewell, left his grandmother's house with a cheerful heart. Before he departed, he instructed the doctor he had brought along to ensure that his grandmother received a thorough check-up.
Qian Yuqin felt lighthearted; the thought of undergoing a medical examination no longer seemed daunting. As she allowed the doctor to conduct various tests, she happily contemplated what kind of gold lock she would create for the child. Additionally, she thought her grandson should bring something for the little one as well.
Beibei received the address from her father and joyfully made her way to his villa. Even before arriving, she was delighted to see that there were villas spaced apart at a considerable distance. Gazing at the garden inside, she couldn't wait to see how her father's house looked.
Before long, she arrived. The entrance resembled those nearby, but for Beibei, her home felt distinctly different from others. She pressed the doorbell, and soon after, a middle-aged man in a blue suit with thick black hair opened the door and greeted them.
The man respectfully said, "You must be Miss Liu and the young lady. The sir has informed me in advance; please come in. My surname is Zhao; you can call me Butler Zhao."
Beibei bounced inside excitedly. Upon reaching the garden, she discovered it was even larger than what she had seen from outside and exclaimed, "Wow, it's so big! I love it!" She grabbed her mother's hand and dashed toward the house.
The little girl ran too quickly for Liu Yuan to react in time, nearly twisting her ankle. She scolded Beibei, "Slow down!"
Beibei was overjoyed as she gazed at the spacious living room, bouncing around like a little monkey. "Mom, let's hurry and look! We need to finish so we can go home for dinner!"
Butler Zhao smiled at the adorable child and kindly said, "Dinner can be eaten here."
The thought of having dinner in the villa felt wonderful. Beibei immediately agreed without hesitation: "Yay! Mom, can we have dinner here?"
The sparkle in her eyes was like precious gems, making it hard for anyone to refuse her request.
Liu Yuan didn't insist on going home for dinner either. "Alright then; I'll let Auntie know not to cook for us."
"Okay, Mom!" Beibei exclaimed before dashing off to explore.
Beibei ran from one room on the first floor to another and soon completed a full circle. When she returned to her mother, she joyfully said, "Mom, I think Dad's villa is amazing! There are so many rooms, and the living room is huge with lots of beautiful things! Can I live here in the future?"
In the living room stood an aquarium filled with koi fish and other beautifully colored fish swimming around. Liu Yuan recognized one of them as a Blood Red Dragon Fish—of high quality and worth hundreds of thousands or even millions.
Beibei was fascinated by it and approached with wide, curious eyes. She placed her small hand on the aquarium while occasionally glancing at it.
Seeing her adorable expression made Liu Yuan chuckle softly. "I'm glad you like it."
"I love it!" Beibei replied enthusiastically.
"Mom, what kind of fish is this? I've never seen one before!" Beibei asked curiously while pointing at the Blood Red Dragon Fish.
"This is a Blood Red Dragon Fish; it's very expensive," Liu Yuan answered.
Beibei's eyes widened in surprise as she exclaimed, "Dad is really rich!"
Liu Yuan raised an eyebrow at her daughter’s comment. "Oh? You think your dad is very wealthy?"
"Of course! Otherwise, how could he afford such a big house? And such a large aquarium with such big fish!" Beibei stated confidently.
Hearing her daughter's words made Liu Yuan chuckle again. "Well, yes, your dad is indeed very wealthy."
"Hehe." Beibei couldn't help but giggle.
At that moment, Chen Yan returned.
"Daddy!" Beibei, the little darling, ran over joyfully.
Chen Yan scooped Beibei into his arms and kissed her cheek. "Do you miss Daddy?"
"I do!" Beibei planted a heavy kiss on Chen Yan's cheek and then asked, "Daddy, is this house for me?"
"Of course," Chen Yan replied with a smile.
"Thank you, Dad Chen!" Beibei exclaimed happily, bouncing in Chen Yan's embrace.
Chen Yan affectionately ruffled Beibei's hair and turned to Liu Yuan. "So, what do you think? Are you satisfied with the house?"
"It's okay," Liu Yuan answered.
"Then why not move in?" Chen Yan suggested.
"No way," Liu Yuan rejected without hesitation.
"Why not?" Chen Yan frowned.
"No reason, I just don't want to move," Liu Yuan said flatly.
"The environment here is nice, and with Butler Zhao around, he can take care of Beibei while you can still focus on your own things," Chen Yan explained.
"No thanks, I can take care of Beibei at home," Liu Yuan insisted.
"Liu Yuan, are you avoiding something?" Chen Yan couldn't help but frown again.
"I'm not avoiding anything; I just don't see the need," Liu Yuan replied.
"No need?" Chen Yan raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying I don't have the right to be Beibei's father?"
"That's not what I mean," Liu Yuan said softly.
"Then what do you mean?" Chen Yan pressed on.
"I..." Liu Yuan was at a loss for words.
Chen Yan looked at Liu Yuan and slowly spoke, "Or are you afraid of remarrying me?"
The word "remarry" left Liu Yuan stunned. She stared at Chen Yan, momentarily unsure of what to say.
Seeing Liu Yuan's reaction, Chen Yan felt a surge of irritation. "Are you scared of me?"
"I'm not," Liu Yuan snapped back to reality and quickly denied it.
"Then why are you unwilling to remarry?" Chen Yan questioned sternly.
"I..." Liu Yuan fell silent again.
"What is it?" Chen Yan glared at Liu Yuan. "Are you still holding a grudge against me?"
"I don't." Liu Yuan denied once again.
"Then why are you unwilling to remarry?" Chen Yan pressed on.
"I..." Liu Yuan fell silent again.
"What is it?" Chen Yan glared at Liu Yuan. "What are you hesitating about?"
Liu Yuan remained silent.
She didn't know how to respond.
Chen Yan looked at Liu Yuan and took a deep breath. "Liu Yuan, you need to understand that we already have Beibei. That's an unchangeable fact."
Liu Yuan bit her lip, not saying a word.
"Think it over," Chen Yan said, leaving those words behind as he turned and went upstairs.
Beibei watched her parents argue, worry etched on her small face.
She walked up to Liu Yuan and tugged at her sleeve. "Mommy, are you and Daddy fighting?"
Liu Yuan looked at Beibei and forced a smile. "No, Mommy and Daddy aren't fighting."
"Really?" Beibei asked skeptically.
"Really," Liu Yuan nodded.
Beibei continued to look at Liu Yuan, concern still evident on her little face. "Mommy, if you and Daddy do fight, you have to tell me, okay?"
"Okay," Liu Yuan replied softly.
...
That night, Liu Yuan lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Chen Yan's words kept replaying in her mind.
"You need to understand that we already have Beibei. That's an unchangeable fact."
Yes, they already had Beibei; that was an unchangeable fact.
She couldn't let Beibei lose her father because of her own reasons.
She couldn't allow Beibei to grow up without her father's presence.
She couldn't do that.
So...
After thinking for a long time, Liu Yuan finally made a decision.
She picked up her phone and sent a message to Chen Yan: "Let's remarry."
After the message was sent successfully, Liu Yuan's heart raced.
She didn't know how Chen Yan would react upon reading it.
However, she had already made her decision.
The next day, after Liu Yuan dropped Beibei off at kindergarten, she prepared to head to the office. At that moment, a familiar black sedan pulled up in front of her. The window slowly rolled down, revealing Chen Yan's handsome face.
"Get in," Chen Yan said, looking at Liu Yuan.
Liu Yuan hesitated for a moment before getting into the car. The door closed, and the sedan slowly drove away. Inside the car, the atmosphere was somewhat silent.
After a long pause, Chen Yan spoke up, "I saw your message last night."
Liu Yuan looked at Chen Yan but remained silent.
"I want to know why you suddenly changed your mind," Chen Yan asked, gazing at Liu Yuan.
"I..." Liu Yuan hesitated for a moment before saying, "I don't want Beibei to grow up without a father."
Hearing this answer softened Chen Yan's heart. "And what about you?" he asked.
"What about me?" Liu Yuan was taken aback.
"Don't you want me?" Chen Yan inquired.
Liu Yuan looked at Chen Yan and remained silent.
Chen Yan continued to gaze at her and said, "Liu Yuan, do you know? I dream about you every night."
Liu Yuan's heart raced at Chen Yan's words.
"You..." She looked at Chen Yan, wanting to say something but found herself unable to speak.
"Let's remarry," Chen Yan said again.
Liu Yuan looked at him, bit her lip, and then gently nodded.
Seeing Liu Yuan nod, a look of surprise spread across Chen Yan's face. "You agree?" he asked excitedly.
"Yes," Liu Yuan nodded again.
"That's great!" Chen Yan exclaimed as he embraced Liu Yuan with excitement.
