Before that, I had always regarded Zhou Shiwan as my childhood sister, even developing a slight affection for her. Afterward, I only wanted to keep my distance from her. Even if Zhou Shiwan were willing to marry me in the future, I would have fled on the wedding day.
Fortunately, I no longer needed to escape from marriage, thanks to Lin Ziping's adept handling of that useless young lady.
After the wedding, as the guests dispersed, Jiang Mingyue extended her hand toward me, the diamond ring on her slender finger sparkling brightly. "It's time for us to go, Mr. Song."
I took her hand. Once upon a time, we had clashed in debate competitions at different schools, and I had lost repeatedly. Back then, I hated her to the core, even dreaming of debating with her. Who would have thought that now we were bound together in marriage? Life is unpredictable.
At that moment, my Father-in-law and Mother-in-law smiled behind me.
"Mom, wait a moment. What about my marriage with Zi Ping?" Zhou Shiwan caught up with us.
Zhou's Mother seemed to finally remember there was such a person.
"Forget it, you two can do whatever you want; it has nothing to do with us anymore," Zhou's Father waved dismissively.
Lin Ziping's eyes glistened with tears as she choked out, "Thank you, Uncle, for your support."
Zhou Shiwan let out a sigh of relief.
"Don't call him Uncle; from now on, you're my husband. You should change how you address him, Zi Ping."
Lin Ziping was about to speak.
"Stop right there. I can't bear this honor," Zhou's Father said, his smile fading. "Zhou Shiwan is no longer part of our family; whatever you two want to do is none of my business, so don't get carried away with familial ties."
With that, Zhou's Father took my hand and looked at me meaningfully. "Besides, my only son-in-law is Xiao Song here; don't get any ideas."
Lin Ziping's expression fluctuated, as if he had swallowed a fly. Zhou Shiwan stood protectively behind him, her gaze filled with hostility as she scanned Song Siyuan, her eyes brimming with resentment. "Now that you've found your biological daughter, you should at least tell me where my real parents are," she demanded.
Zhou's Father replied calmly, "There's no need to rush; they will be here soon." Hope reignited in the eyes of Lin Ziping and Zhou Shiwan. Lin Ziping grabbed Zhou Shiwan's hand, his spirits lifted. "Don't worry, Awan. I will stay by your side until your family arrives."
It was truly laughable. He probably believed that Zhou Shiwan's biological parents were wealthy and influential, excited like a fool.
Jiang Mingyue asked me, "Mr. Song, do you want to continue watching this farce or come home with me?"
"Let's wait a bit longer; the show isn't over yet." Just then, two cars approached—one a sleek black Rolls-Royce and the other an old van.
"They're here!" Zhou Shiwan exclaimed as she pulled Lin Ziping toward the Rolls-Royce. The housekeeper stepped out of the Rolls-Royce, ignoring the two and walking straight toward my parents.
"Sir, ma'am, please get in the car," she said, treating them as if they were invisible. I felt embarrassed for them.
My Father-in-Law pointed at the van and coldly stated, "Zhou Shiwan, your biological parents are over there."
From the van emerged a middle-aged couple dressed simply, their faces weathered and their forms hunched. A small girl stood beside them, her features bearing some resemblance to Zhou Shiwan. The three rushed toward Zhou Shiwan and Lin Ziping as soon as they got out of the van.
"My dear daughter! Mom and Dad have missed you so much!" They embraced Zhou Shiwan, weeping uncontrollably.
"You must have missed us too. Why didn't you realize sooner that you had taken the wrong one?"
