But she persisted and tried to strike again. I immediately blocked her number. It was so annoying.
After lunch, once my friends and I had wrapped up our gathering, I passed by Jiang Mingyue's company and decided to pick her up after work. However, I saw Lin Ziping standing at the entrance of the building, holding a bag as if he were waiting for someone.
I sat in the car, silently observing his next move. Before long, Jiang Mingyue emerged, with her assistant closely following behind. Lin Ziping quickly straightened his collar, adjusted his expression, and walked briskly over to her.
"Miss Jiang, may I take a minute of your time?" he asked, pulling out an exquisite light blue bento box from the bag. "This is something I ordered for you. I hope you can forgive my previous rudeness with Zhou Shiwan; I truly meant no offense."
It was peak lunch hour, and a crowd of employees poured out of the building. Lin Ziping's actions drew quite a few curious glances. After all, it was unusual for someone who wasn't close to simply deliver food like this.
Jiang Mingyue didn't even spare him a glance. "No need," she replied curtly.
Her assistant stepped in front of Lin Ziping. "Please have some respect, sir. Our president is having lunch with President Zhou; do not engage in behavior that could lead to misunderstandings."
Whispers began to circulate among the onlookers.
"How can you say that? I really don't have any such intentions," Lin Ziping protested, resorting to his usual tactic of playing the victim to gain sympathy. He thought this approach would always work; after all, in public, people would likely give him some leeway.
Unfortunately for him, this trick didn't work with Jiang Mingyue. I leisurely got out of the car and deliberately called out, "Wife."
In an instant, all eyes turned toward me.
"Oh my God, this is the real Mr. President! So handsome!"
"This couple is simply a match made in heaven!"
Jiang Mingyue reached out to me, the coldness in her eyes unexpectedly softened into a smile, transforming her demeanor entirely.
Seeing this, Lin Ziping panicked and fled.
Perhaps too flustered, he collided head-on with a passing Delivery Rider.
He was unharmed, but the bag containing his bento fell to the ground.
With a loud crash, the food spilled everywhere.
Opening the bento box revealed two heart-shaped pieces of grilled meat, accompanied by a note with his number written on it.
The intention was painfully obvious.
A passerby couldn't help but chuckle, "Oh my, heart-shaped grilled meat? Where did he learn this cheesy line?"
Lin Ziping's face turned red with anger as he took it out on the delivery person, "You were riding too recklessly!"
"Sir, I was delivering food just fine when you suddenly rushed out. How is this my fault?"
I linked arms with Jiang Mingyue and walked away.
I had long seen through such clumsy tricks, yet he stubbornly clung to these outdated antics, which was both amusing and frustrating.
In the afternoon, I got a new hairstyle and then went to visit my Mother-in-law.
Our homes were not far apart; it took only a short drive to get there.
In just a few days of not seeing each other, she had prepared many gifts for me.
"I saw this shirt while shopping and thought it would suit your style, so I bought it."
"And these cufflinks match perfectly with that suit we bought together last time. Do you like them?"
"I love them so much! Thank you, Mom."
My Mother-in-law and I had very similar tastes; what she appreciated was usually something I liked as well.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside.
"This is the place."
It was Zhou Shiwan's biological parents along with Zhou Shiwan.
I frowned slightly.
Zhou Shiwan's Biological Father said with a serious expression, "Mr. Zhou, Mrs. Zhou, we have some matters to discuss with you."
