The light sphere cannon launched a magnetic spinning sphere. Although its firing speed was extremely slow, it had an effective striking effect on nearby armored targets. Once captured by the light sphere, it would rapidly expand until it enveloped the entire target, ultimately corroding it like stomach acid.
The Fierce Eagle found himself ensnared by such a monster in mid-air. Even as he spread his mechanical wings to push backward, he could not break free. The magnetism of the sphere was incredibly strong; unless there was external interference, even aircraft struggled to escape the fate of being absorbed and corroded by the light sphere.
“Liu Xuan—” The Fierce Eagle could already feel the armor being torn apart. In a moment of desperation, he gritted his teeth and shouted Liu Xuan’s name.
As expected, Blue Face Hero leaped down from the breach where seawater poured in. The Tianchuang Gloves on his hands suddenly glowed, shining like starlight. A vortex of energy gathered on the back of his hand as he swung his left hand forward. The released Cosmic Energy surged like a tidal wave toward the Inner Essence Heavy Armored Soldiers ahead, the massive shockwave knocking them down one by one and submerging them in the water, swept away by the current. Simultaneously, he extended his right hand, condensing an energy vortex that erupted into a thin energy beam, which sliced through the light sphere enveloping the Fierce Eagle like a scalpel.
Once cut, the light sphere vanished like a bubble. The Fierce Eagle fell back to the ground, stabilizing himself in the rising water level. He exchanged a fist bump with Blue Face Hero. “Thank goodness you arrived in time.”
“Acting on your own isn’t a good habit, Captain,” Nars remarked.
The Heavy Infantry were still getting up and charging toward them, clearly intent on blocking their way down the corridor. By now, the water level had risen to everyone’s waists; close combat was becoming increasingly difficult. The Heavy Infantry raised their guns to prepare for shooting when suddenly two large circles were cut into the dome above them. Steel plates crashed down as the human Task Force waded in, opening fire from above in a surprise attack.
The Inner Essence Heavy Armored Soldiers were thrown into chaos as the human Task Force landed behind them. A grenade flew in and exploded among them, creating a gap. The Fierce Eagle and Blue Face Hero immediately followed up, raising their battle swords and hand cannons to fire at the internal humans.
In an instant, gunfire erupted within the corridor, screams filled the air as the internal humans’ Heavy Infantry were caught between two fronts of attack from the humans and were completely wiped out, collapsing into the blood-stained dark blue seawater that gradually rose to wash away their bodies like waste flushed down a toilet, mingling with murky blood.
After confirming there were no survivors left, the Task Force turned to advance deeper into the corridor with The Celestial Warriors following closely behind. The bodies drifted faster than they did; at times a Task Force member would step on an internal human corpse floating in the water. These bodies floated along the downward sloping corridor as The Celestial Warriors and Task Force moved together with them. By now, the water had risen to chest level, and everyone had to secure their gear against potential hazards.
The corridor spiraled downward endlessly; as they passed through it, they occasionally glimpsed open rooms where dark spaces appeared even gloomier underwater. The Task Force members turned on their flashlights but only saw rooms filled with seawater and floating debris. This surprised Nars: “Could it be that they’ve all evacuated?”
Another door was smashed open, but once again there were no findings here. The Fierce Eagle flew inside for a quick look and confirmed there was no threat before turning back to ask Blue Face Hero: “Where did all the enemies go?”
“I’m not sure,” Blue Face Hero replied as they walked through the water. “The Quantum String Engine Locator is missing, people are gone too, and the water level keeps rising; this situation can only be disadvantageous for us.”
As they descended further, rooms became increasingly scarce until they reached the bottom where darkness loomed like an abyssal maw with no end in sight. The Task Force captain raised his hand to signal a stop and promptly turned on his flashlight; all they saw was shimmering seawater rising to their chests. However, at the deepest point of this hole was a faint green light resembling an emergency exit sign.
“Don’t move yet,” said Fierce Eagle as he and Blue Face Hero stepped forward to have the Task Force members stand behind them in readiness. This place appeared to be at the end of this winding path; if everything ahead seemed calm, something ominous was bound to happen here—at least An Xiaotian and Liu Xuan shared this premonition. They exchanged glances; Fierce Eagle gripped his sword and shield while Blue Face Hero gathered energy in his Tianchuang Gloves as they stepped into the darkness in a cross formation.
Upon entering, they realized it wasn’t complete darkness inside; under an arched design, reflections of shimmering waves danced on the ceiling. Blue Face Hero spotted a lamp that still emitted a faint glow. “With seawater having flooded this far, the power system should have been destroyed long ago,” Nars thought suddenly struck with a bold idea.
Seeing that they had been inside for quite some time without any movement, the Task Force captain signaled everyone to follow closely behind quietly.
Blue Face Hero was a dual-soul entity of Nars and Liu Xuan; both controlled their body simultaneously. Thus when Nars activated his left eye online, it functioned like a natural flashlight—his moonlight-colored eyes scanned their surroundings. They drew closer to that green light ahead; under Nars’ moonlight gaze, Liu Xuan activated his holographic analysis lens’ zoom function for observation before exclaiming: “Nars! Is this what you referred to as Quantum String Engine Locator?”
Hearing this, Fierce Eagle looked over as his visor magnified real-time images for him—it resembled more of a pillar with sharp ends suspended above sea level; beneath its silvery exterior flickered green ghostly lights from its Core.
“It is indeed Quantum String Engine Locator,” Nars confirmed.
“Then what are we waiting for? Blast it apart; mission accomplished!” Liu Xuan urged.
“Wait,” Nars cautioned while still gathering energy within Tianchuang Gloves at an appropriate controllable range. “It’s too suspicious that we’re being shown our target so directly.”
“You’re right about that, Nars,” Liu Xuan replied with timing perfectly aligned with Nars’ words.
Nars immediately identified the source of the sound. He and Fierce Eagle turned to the left at an eight o'clock angle, but found nothing. However, something seemed to be lurking beneath the surface of the sea, as countless bubbles began to rise from the water.
"Stalker!" Blue Face Hero shouted towards the top, not knowing where she had hidden herself this time. "What trick are you trying to pull now?"
But this time, Stalker did not respond from the darkness. The two stood back to back, on high alert, when suddenly they heard screams and gunfire behind them—Task Force was under attack!
The internal Humans lurking beneath the surface had been waiting for a long time. They struck from below, stabbing their knives into the water at Task Force's feet, dragging the soldiers into the depths one by one. Fierce Eagle and Blue Face Hero quickly turned to provide support, but just then, a shadow surged up from the water's surface. A woman seemed to emerge from ink itself, using her shadow to grab Blue Face Hero's calf and flipping him over, sending him closer to the Quantum String Engine Locator.
Fierce Eagle immediately swung his sword in a slash, but Stalker was too agile. His armor clearly did not give him enough advantage. Stalker leaped and deftly flipped over his arm, sticking a sticky bomb onto his back.
Thinking his opponent wanted to engage in close combat, Fierce Eagle attempted a heavy elbow strike backward but missed as Stalker evaded. By the time he turned around, Stalker had already vanished into the shadows again, swimming directly towards Blue Face Hero, who was now closer to the Quantum String Engine Locator.
At that moment, the sticky bomb on Fierce Eagle's back exploded with a deafening echo throughout the space. He was thrown forward by the immense force of the blast and fell into water deep enough to submerge a normal person up to their neck. The explosion had torn a hole in his back armor, and An Xiaotian could already feel the cold seawater seeping through his fiber suit.
"Warning: Armor integrity compromised—"
Before Xiao Ling inside the armor could finish reporting, a pair of red lights flickered from below. A massive hand shot up from the depths of the sea and grabbed Fierce Eagle, who was still struggling in the water—this internal Human had hands even larger than Shatterer Gad! With a fierce roar, he curled Fierce Eagle in his palm and slammed him back into the water while gripping his head with his other hand, intent on tearing off his helmet and drowning An Xiaotian in the sea!
"He's all yours, Taigutel," Stalker said as she emerged at sea level, her Light Arc Dagger aimed directly at Blue Face Hero, who was just getting ready to fight back. "Nars is mine!"
Blue Face Hero's reflexes were always quick. He swiftly deployed his Particle Shield to absorb Stalker's incoming strike while Liu Xuan activated his Telekinesis for the first time in battle—sending Stalker flying into the water ahead.
"Nice job, Liu Xuan!" Nars exclaimed in surprise at Liu Xuan's unexpected use of his long-practiced Telekinesis. Seizing this moment of distraction, Nars chose not to continue engaging Stalker but instead switched to his hand cannon and fired several shots at Taigutel, who was overpowering Fierce Eagle. The energy blasts burned against Taigutel’s skin, forcing him to release his grip and retreat while clutching his arm.
"I can only help you this far, An Xiaotian," Blue Face Hero said as he activated his Tianchuang Gloves and took a fighting stance in the water. Stalker glared at him from across the way while between them lay the Quantum String Engine Locator not far from Blue Face Hero.
Stalker had always believed she could defeat Nars on Earth; her conviction had never wavered over these years. Since her defeat against Blue Face Hero in One Against Three two years ago, she had been honing her knife skills. Now that escape was no longer an option, she decided it was time for a true duel with Blue Face Hero.
The Quantum String Engine Locator in this vast space was real; it was their internal Humans' genuine Quantum String Engine Locator—enough evidence of Stalker's confidence. She commanded all internal Humans stationed here to lie in wait beneath the water; any humans who entered would be ambushed. The Task Force was currently engaged in a firefight with internal Humans at their entrance.
Stalker had successfully divided human forces in two.
At the same time, she activated a Time Portal behind the Quantum String Engine Locator. However, due to low energy functionality at the seabed, activating it required time; as long as she and her kin could delay humans until it opened, she could escape with the Quantum String Engine Locator.
Yet what Stalker hoped for did not materialize.
Taigutel was unarmed except for brute strength; facing Fierce Eagle flying through the water drastically reduced his mobility. Mini-missiles launched from Fierce Eagle’s arms bombarded Taigutel relentlessly until he was left gaping open with blood splattering out like juice from an exploded fruit. Seeing that this giant still hadn’t fallen, Fierce Eagle flew behind him and drew his battle sword, stabbing it through Taigutel’s throat.
The massive splash caused by Taigutel's fall drew Blue Face Hero and Stalker's attention away from their fight. Upon seeing Stalker again, Fierce Eagle felt an intense rage ignite within him; how could he forget Stalker's vendetta against his wife? "Nars! Let me handle this!" he roared as energy began to hum ominously along his electromagnetic railgun—
"Vroom!"
It wasn’t Fierce Eagle’s Electromagnetic Railgun that made that sound; it was Stalker's Time Portal behind her—it had successfully generated! In a daze, Blue Face Hero had initially lowered his weapon for Fierce Eagle to deal with her when suddenly Stalker transformed into shadow and stealthily approached him from behind, stabbing him in the back.
"Ah!" Blue Face Hero gritted through pain as he thrust backward with his head against Stalker before drawing out a Laser Long Curved Blade from his Time-Space Equipment Library and turning around for a horizontal slash—but she evaded effortlessly. Stalker struck down with both blades simultaneously, trapping Blue Face Hero’s Laser Long Curved Blade so that no matter how hard he tried to free it, he couldn’t escape her grip.
"An Xiaotian, don't mind me! Aim for the Quantum String Engine Locator!" Liu Xuan shouted.
An Xiaotian hesitated, as the Blue Face Hero and the Stalker were locked in a fierce struggle, blocking the way to the Quantum String Engine Locator. The water level had risen enough to submerge a person entirely, and Fierce Eagle floated in the sea, unsure of how to fire. The Quantum String Engine Locator was right in front of him, yet he was afraid to pull the trigger. He worried that if he fired an electromagnetic round, the Stalker would push the Blue Face Hero into his line of fire, leading to a disaster.
The power of the Electromagnetic Railgun was enough to pierce through any body. An Xiaotian's worst fears came true; his best and only remaining friend stood right in front of his target. In this crucial moment, he found himself paralyzed with doubt about whether to fire or hold back.
"Fire!" Liu Xuan continued to shout, but sound barely traveled through the water; only the muffled echoes of his own voice remained.
Seeing that the Time Portal had already formed, An Xiaotian noticed the Stalker stealthily retracting her dagger—
"An Xiaotian! Fire—"
The Stalker forcefully pushed the Blue Face Hero away and then kicked him into the water. Transforming into a shadow, she swiftly swam through the water, took hold of the Quantum String Engine Locator, and jumped into the Time Portal…
