Chen Yan took the mother and daughter to the zoo for a day of fun. It had been many years since he last visited, and he was somewhat unfamiliar with where the entrance was. After wandering around with the kids, they finally found the entrance. Today, there were unusually large crowds because the pandas Guo Guo and Duo Duo had become quite popular, attracting many visitors from afar just to see them.
Beibei was thrilled to see so many people; she loved bustling places. "Dad, let's go see the pandas!" she exclaimed.
Liu Yuan couldn't help but scoff, "They're just black and white bears. What's so special about them?"
Beibei frowned at her mother's comment. "Mom, pandas are really cute!"
Not wanting to argue with the child, Liu Yuan casually brushed it off.
As they stood in line under the blazing sun, Liu Yuan felt uncomfortable, while Beibei seemed oblivious to the heat. She held a map and chatted with her dad. "Dad, let's go see the peacocks, lions, tigers, and then the giant pandas."
"Okay, whatever makes you happy," Chen Yan replied with a smile.
After buying tickets, he also purchased some water and an umbrella. While waiting in line at the entrance, Chen Yan handed the umbrella to Liu Yuan, insisting he didn't need it.
"Dad, you'll get sunburned! Use the umbrella!" Beibei worriedly urged him.
"Alright, alright," Chen Yan relented and took the umbrella.
The three of them squeezed together in line. Liu Yuan felt a bit helpless; she didn't want to be so cramped either. However, as people continued to push closer to them, she had no choice but to lean against Chen Yan.
Chen Yan didn’t mind; he actually preferred having Liu Yuan close to him.
Once inside the zoo, Beibei spotted swans and a Polar Bear. "Wow! Dad, look! Swans! And a Polar Bear!"
"Yes, I see," he replied.
When they reached the bear exhibit, Beibei took on her role as a little tour guide again. "Dad, Polar Bears live in the Arctic where it’s minus forty degrees. Their fur is transparent and their skin is black."
"Why is their skin black?" Chen Yan asked, curious about animal facts.
"Because that helps them absorb heat better," Beibei explained confidently.
"Why is the refrigerator white?" Chen Yan continued to ask.
"Because there's refrigerant inside the refrigerator, which lowers the temperature inside so that food can be stored," Beibei patiently explained.
"Oh, I see," Chen Yan said, realizing.
"Dad, let's go see the parrots, lions, wolves, tigers, and dolphins!" Beibei exclaimed excitedly.
"Sure," Chen Yan replied with a smile.
The family of three continued walking forward, seeing various animals along the way, and Beibei was thrilled by each one.
Finally, they arrived at the Panda House, where there were many people. They squeezed in with some difficulty.
It turned out that Guo Guo and Duo Duo were celebrating their birthdays, and Beibei was delighted to see the two round pandas.
"Dad, pandas can have birthdays too!"
"Yes, they have their own birthdays," Chen Yan chuckled.
"Then Mom has a birthday too! I want to celebrate Mom's birthday!" Beibei suddenly thought of something.
"Alright, when it's Mom's birthday, we'll celebrate together," Chen Yan said as he patted his daughter's head.
"Okay!" Beibei nodded vigorously.

After returning from the zoo, Beibei began to think about what gift to give her mom for her birthday.
She consulted her dad, and Chen Yan agreed to help her make something.
"Dad, what does Mom like?" Beibei asked.
"Mom... it seems she doesn't have anything in particular that she likes," Chen Yan recalled but couldn't think of any specific preferences Liu Yuan had.
"Huh? What should we do then?" Beibei felt a bit disappointed.
"How about you make something small for her?" Chen Yan proposed.
"Something small?" Beibei looked puzzled.
"For example, a bracelet or a necklace," Chen Yan explained.
"A bracelet? A necklace?" Beibei fell into deep thought.
Chen Yan didn't disturb her, allowing her to think slowly on her own.
