The father and daughter sat together, discussing what kind of gift to make.
“Dad, how about we make a greeting card?” Beibei suggested.
“Sounds good! Let’s check online to see how to make one,” Chen Yan agreed, finding the idea appealing.
“Okay,” Beibei nodded.
They both took out their phones to search for ideas.
“Dad, I think we could do a peach blossom theme,” Beibei said, noticing a picture where someone had used peach blossoms as decoration; it looked beautiful.
“Great, let’s go with peach blossoms!” Chen Yan concurred.
As they discussed excitedly, Liu Yuan walked out of the room and saw them huddled together.
She was a bit curious. “What are you two up to?”
“This is our little secret; we can’t tell you!” Beibei said mysteriously.
“What secret?” Liu Yuan pressed, even more intrigued.
“A secret we can’t share,” Chen Yan teased, playing along.
“Fine,” Liu Yuan replied, feeling a bit disappointed but not wanting to push further.
She returned to the dining room to continue snacking, glancing occasionally at Beibei and Chen Yan, wondering what they were doing.
“Dad, let’s start by drawing the peach blossoms!” Beibei suggested.
“Sure, go grab some paper and pens,” Chen Yan instructed.
Beibei quickly fetched the supplies and handed them to her dad. Chen Yan began sketching the outline of the peach blossoms while Beibei watched intently.
“Dad, what do peach blossoms look like?” Beibei asked curiously.
“Like this,” Chen Yan explained as he drew.
Beibei gazed at her dad's drawing of the peach blossoms and found it beautiful.
“Dad, can I help you with the cutting?” Beibei offered, wanting to share some of the work.
“Of course,” Chen Yan said as he handed her the scissors.
Beibei started cutting but struggled; her attempts resulted in a messy shape that barely resembled a peach blossom.
“Dad, I’m not doing it well,” Beibei admitted, feeling a bit discouraged.
“It’s okay; we can draw it again,” Chen Yan reassured her.
“Mm-hmm,” Beibei nodded in agreement.
They redrew the blossoms together, and this time Beibei cut them out nicely; the flowers turned out lovely.
“Dad, what should we do next?” Beibei asked eagerly.
“Next, let’s make a Peach Blossom Branch!” Chen Yan thought for a moment before responding.
“Okay!” Beibei nodded enthusiastically.
Chen Yan began drawing the Peach Blossom Branch while Beibei continued cutting paper. This time she did an excellent job; the branch looked beautiful as well.
“Dad, what’s next?” Beibei asked excitedly again.
“Next, let’s make paper springs!” Chen Yan said with enthusiasm.
“What are paper springs?” Beibei asked, puzzled.
“They're springs made from folded paper,” Chen Yan explained.
"Alright, let's get started!" Beibei said eagerly.
The father and daughter began making paper springs, which was a bit challenging. Beibei folded for a long time before finally getting it right.
"Dad, do you think my folding looks good?" Beibei proudly showed her creation to her father.
"It looks great!" Chen Yan praised her.
Hearing her father's compliment made Beibei very happy, and she continued folding. Once the paper spring was done, it was time to assemble everything.
Chen Yan combined the peach blossoms, the Peach Blossom Branch, and the paper spring together to create a beautiful peach blossom greeting card.
"Wow! Dad, it's so pretty!" Beibei exclaimed.
"Of course! Anything my daughter makes is bound to be beautiful," Chen Yan said proudly.
"Dad, let's draw something on it!" Beibei proposed.
"Sure, what do you want to draw?" Chen Yan asked.
"I love rainbows! Let's draw rainbows! And stars, the sun, and the moon..." Beibei said excitedly.
"Alright, let's draw all of that," Chen Yan replied with a smile.
The father and daughter began to draw. Beibei illustrated her favorite things while Chen Yan wrote some blessings.
"Happy birthday, Mom!"
"We both wish Mom a happy birthday!"
Once the card was finished, Beibei started to worry again.
"Dad, where should we hide the card?"
"How about hiding it in your room?" Chen Yan suggested.
"But Mom will find it," Beibei said anxiously.
"Then let's put it in the toy box on top of the bookshelf," Chen Yan thought of another idea.
"Will that work?" Beibei asked doubtfully.
"It will definitely work; don't worry!" Chen Yan assured her.
"Okay then." Beibei reluctantly trusted her dad's words.

Later that night, as Liu Yuan was about to sleep, she suddenly remembered what Beibei and Chen Yan had been working on during the day.
Curious, she asked, "Beibei, what little secret are you and your dad up to?"
"Mom, you can't know yet; you'll find out soon enough," Beibei replied cryptically.
"Oh," Liu Yuan said, feeling a bit disappointed but not pressing further.
"Hurry up and go to sleep, Mom. Goodnight!" Beibei said.
"Goodnight," Liu Yuan smiled back.
She turned off the light and closed her eyes to sleep.
After finishing his shower, Chen Yan came out and saw that Liu Yuan was still awake. He walked over and sat at the edge of the bed.
"What's wrong? Can't sleep?" he asked.
"No, I'll be asleep soon," Liu Yuan replied softly.
"Then go ahead and sleep; I won't disturb you," Chen Yan said gently.
"Mhm," Liu Yuan responded quietly.
Chen Yan quietly watched her, his gaze complex.
Liu Yuan felt a bit uneasy under his stare and opened her eyes to look at him. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, just feels like I haven't looked at you like this in a long time," Chen Yan said with a hint of nostalgia.
Liu Yuan remained silent, turning away from him.
"Get some rest early. Good night," Chen Yan said.
"Good night," Liu Yuan replied softly.
Chen Yan stood up and left the room, while Liu Yuan opened her eyes to watch his retreating figure, feeling a mix of emotions.

A few days later, as Liu Yuan's birthday approached, Chen Yan wanted to celebrate it outside. He sent her a message asking, "Do you want to celebrate your birthday outside?"
Liu Yuan replied, "I'm fine with either."
Chen Yan breathed a sigh of relief; Liu Yuan hadn't refused, which was a good sign. "Then I'll make the arrangements."
"Okay," Liu Yuan agreed without objection.
Chen Yan felt happy, believing that Liu Yuan's attitude towards him had softened.
"Dad, did Mom agree to celebrate outside?" Beibei asked excitedly.
"Yes, she did," Chen Yan replied, equally pleased.
"What do we need to prepare?" Beibei began to think ahead.
"We just need to take care of the cake and gifts," Chen Yan said.
"What about the birthday party?" Beibei asked.
"Leave the party planning to Dad; I'll handle it," Chen Yan smiled.
"Alright, thank you, Dad!" Beibei exclaimed joyfully.
