At noon, Ye Ming treated everyone attending the event to barbecue, which was set up in the corridor's lounge area. Exhausted young men and women, clad only in swimsuits and hastily wrapped in towels, came up to enjoy the food. Turning around, Rao Jie saw Long Yong's grim expression and exclaimed in surprise, "Senior?"
Long Yong hesitated but still asked, "Where have you been?"
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Rao Jie replied, "I... was called away by Professor Wu for something."
Long Yong didn't want to press further, but Senior Sister chimed in, "We're here to have fun; what could be so important... Wait a minute!" Suddenly leaning closer to Rao Jie, she sniffed and said, "You smell like you've been in the hot springs! Your hair is half-dry too? Did you go to the women's bath? What’s the point of that? Going alone?"
Rao Jie's face uncontrollably flushed red. Unable to reveal the truth, she could only nod stiffly. However, Long Yong noticed her discomfort clearly.
There was no way she could have gone to the women's bath after being taken away by Wu Rong; he knew Wu Rong had upgraded their room. So... Rao Jie must have... As Long Yong thought about this, jealousy flooded his heart.
Senior Sister, not understanding the situation, remarked, "Oh no! It's such a pity; Long Yong has been waiting for you to join him. You wouldn't be too shy to face him..." The more she said without finishing her thought, the more it fueled speculation.
Rao Jie felt awkward while Long Yong struggled to force a smile.
"I called you, but you never picked up," Long Yong said, unable to control his emotions any longer as he began to complain.
Although he regretted it as soon as he spoke, he didn't want Rao Jie to see this entangled side of him; he preferred her to see his generous and handsome side. However, emotions are not so easily controlled.
Rao Jie, on the other hand, didn't think much of it. She took out her phone and saw that there were indeed many missed calls. She had been so flustered earlier that she hadn't checked her phone and had left it in her handbag.
"Ah? That's strange, why didn't I hear it ring? Did you call me just now? Is it broken?" Rao Jie puzzled as she scrolled through her phone.
Senior Sister was right behind her and leaned in to take a look. "Hey, you have it on silent mode, don't you? Did you forget to adjust it after getting out of the car?"
Rao Jie was taken aback; she remembered clearly that she had adjusted it. Unless someone had switched it back to silent mode.
Rao Jie bit her lip, feeling that she didn’t need to analyze further; she already knew who the culprit was. Gritting her teeth, she could only admit that it was her own carelessness for forgetting to switch it back. However, this did give Long Yong a slight sense of balance; as long as she wasn't intentionally avoiding him, that was enough.
