Long Yong adjusted his emotions and resolved to do better after losing the previous round. After lunch, the afternoon was free for activities, and everyone formed small groups to explore the area. The popularity of this place was not just due to the Hot Spring Hotel; there were other attractions as well.
Long Yong eagerly invited Rao Jie to join them for an outing in the afternoon. A few others chimed in, and Rao Jie naturally couldn't refuse. They decided to take a nap and set off at two o'clock to visit nearby attractions.
During her nap, Wu Rong sent her a message asking if she was still angry, but Rao Jie ignored it. When she finally woke up, she found a funny apology sticker from Wu Rong. Rao Jie wasn't surprised by the apology itself, but she was taken aback that Wu Rong would send a sticker like that. It took her a moment to confirm it was indeed from Wu Rong.
The sticker depicted a fierce-looking lion making a pitiful expression while kneeling on the ground, with a wooden sign above its head that read: "I was wrong, I won't do it again." Rao Jie couldn't believe that such an out-of-character sticker came from Wu Rong. Someone like Wu Rong would definitely think: "I was wrong, but I'll dare to do it again next time." It was just an acknowledgment of guilt without any intention to change.
So, Rao Jie chose not to respond to this rare sticker. She ignored him, wanting him to understand that even though she had a good temper, there were times when she could be provoked. He shouldn't assume her limits were very low.
In the afternoon, students went out to play with hardly any teachers accompanying them; after all, they were all graduate and university students and didn't need such supervision. They had to return by six o'clock, so their options for sightseeing were limited, especially since many spots required hiking. In the end, they could only visit three places.
Rao Jie didn't mind and let her teammates choose. The group included several people who got along well with Long Yong and He Dong—both boys and girls—who treated Rao Jie kindly, making for a pleasant atmosphere.
From time to time, Long Yong would walk over to check on Rao Jie. Whenever he did, the others would make some ambiguous sounds and either speed up or slow down their pace to give the two some space. Realizing this made Rao Jie feel a bit regretful about coming out with them; she didn't want to dismiss Long Yong's kindness but felt uncomfortable and suppressed inside.
When faced with steep slopes that were difficult to climb, Long Yong would reach out to help Rao Jie, but she always gritted her teeth and insisted on climbing by herself. Gradually, Rao Jie began to notice something changing within herself. For instance… she was gradually reducing physical contact with Long Yong; there was more distance between them than before.
While they were visiting one of the attractions, Rao Jie received a message from Wu Rong.
Wu Rong soon discovered that she was not at the hotel. After inquiring, she found out where Rao Jie had gone and immediately sent a message.
Wu Rong: "Did you go out with your senior?"
Wu Rong: "Are you trying to get back at me on purpose?"
Wu Rong: "Forget it, you’re not that petty. If I call you back now, you definitely won’t pay attention to me because you’re still mad at me, but this is also an opportunity."
Rao Jie was frowning when another message came through.
Wu Rong: "I want you to see clearly whether you prefer being with him or being with me."
At that moment, because she couldn't keep up with the others, Long Yong returned to check on her. Unable to help himself, he reached out his hand and said, "Are you too tired? Let me help you walk."
Rao Jie looked up at Long Yong.
The sunlight, intensified by the snow on the mountain, shone brightly, but it hurt Rao Jie’s eyes as it fell on Long Yong before her.
