Long Yong sat beside Rao Jie, naturally observing everything. He smiled and asked softly, "Have you decided to be with Professor Wu?"
Rao Jie was taken aback, feeling a bit embarrassed to discuss this with Long Yong.
Long Yong chuckled, "Professor Wu is quite popular. I genuinely hope you find happiness; otherwise, my sacrifice would seem rather foolish, wouldn't it?"
Rao Jie awkwardly replied, "I'm not sure yet. This... takes time."
Long Yong understood that Rao Jie was a serious person when it came to relationships. She preferred to bear the burden of others rather than let anyone down herself. Only when she had a clear answer would she make a decision.
Rao Jie’s first love was Bao Ming, and being with him felt entirely different from her current situation, leaving her confused. She felt something for Wu Rong but also experienced intense anxiety when thinking about being with him. It was not fear of Wu Rong himself but rather the reality of their potential relationship. She couldn't pinpoint the source of her unease, yet she couldn't ignore it either, which left her uncertain about her feelings.
Long Yong knew he shouldn't get too involved, especially since he was still nursing his own heartbreak. While he wished for Rao Jie’s happiness, he couldn’t help her move past his own rival in love. So he chose to remain silent.
After finishing their meal, Rao Jie was pulled by Senior Sister into the hall where some people were chatting while others played games. Rao Jie felt somewhat distracted, as if nothing could hold her interest.
She wandered around aimlessly and eventually spotted Chang Fei, who seemed overly focused on her. Chang Fei appeared to be at the counter, communicating with someone.
Rao Jie watched but couldn’t hear what was being said. Coincidentally, several of Chang Fei's classmates were nearby and noticed her actions.
Curiosity sparked among them about what Chang Fei was doing. Someone whispered conspiratorially, "I heard Professor Wu upgraded his room and isn't on the boys' floor anymore. Chang Fei seemed to have gone looking for him earlier but ended up empty-handed; now she’s probably asking where Professor Wu has moved."
"Really? Will the front desk tell her?"
"Since they all came together, what’s there to hide? They could just give her any excuse."
"But wouldn’t that be too obvious? Isn’t she practically throwing herself at him?"
"I don’t know; she looks pretty anxious. Maybe she really has something urgent to discuss with Professor Wu. Otherwise, after how dismissive he was during the day, even if she likes him, she wouldn’t rush over like this."
"Hey, hey, hey! Stop talking; her roommate is coming!"
Rao Jie sat with her back to them, so they didn’t notice her listening intently. As she overheard their conversation in shock, she turned to see Chang Fei excitedly rushing toward the elevator—likely having found out which room Wu Rong was in.
Is she really going to find Wu Rong?
Rao Jie felt a strange unease in her heart, her gaze involuntarily following Chang Fei. There was even an impulse to go over and see what was happening. But there was only the impulse, not the courage. When Chang Fei disappeared into the elevator, all Rao Jie felt was a wave of disappointment.
Unable to help herself, she scrolled through her phone, finding no messages from Wu Rong. She glanced at the time. If Chang Fei had found Wu Rong and Wu Rong refused to chat with her, how long would it take for them to come down?
Five minutes passed, then ten minutes, and fifteen minutes went by as well. Chang Fei did not come back down.
