The body was filled with tubes, dotted with needle marks, as if someone were playing a game of doctor and patient with them.
Ma Yuan suspected I was involved in this matter. Yet, he couldn't find any evidence.
He stared at me and asked, "What does the killer want?"
I shrugged. "Perhaps he wants the truth to come out."
"Evildoers always get their just desserts."
Ma Yuan laughed. "Naive."
I remained silent, simply watching him. I knew his faith had already been shaken.
"So what do you think? If you were the killer, what would you do?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Why would Officer Ma think I'm the killer?"
Ma Yuan didn't answer; he just continued to look at me quietly.
I chuckled softly. "Officer Ma, are you... testing me?"
His gaze darkened, and he remained silent.
Tilting my head, I smiled and said, "If I were the killer, I would certainly..."
Bang—
A loud noise interrupted my words from a distance.
Ma Yuan suddenly stood up, looking at me with a grim expression.
I continued to smile, as if welcoming a guest.
"Officer Ma, see? What did I say?"
"Evildoers always get their retribution."
Ma Yuan gritted his teeth. "Miss Jin."
I tilted my head and smiled at him.
He was taken away by the police.
I have become quite famous recently.
Or rather, I have been famous from the very beginning.
Because I am the only one who survived after coming into contact with the old man.
Thus, I became a key target for their investigation.
But I am not worried at all.
After all, they have no evidence.
I was brought to the police station.
As soon as I entered, everyone looked at me with disdain, as if I were a villain who had committed countless crimes.
But I didn’t care.
They brought me back simply because I was the only one who fit their criteria.
Without evidence, they could do nothing.
In the interrogation room, Ma Yuan and an old officer sat across from me.
Ma Yuan looked serious: “Miss Jin, please explain the details of the crime.”
I blinked: “Officer Ma, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
Ma Yuan frowned: “Don’t play dumb; we already know.”
I smiled: “What do you know?”
“Did I kill Yu Fenglin, Dou Min, and Li Qiang, or did I orchestrate Xin Xin’s disappearance and death?”
Ma Yuan said in a low voice: “Both.”
I nodded: “Then please show me the evidence, Officer Ma.”
Ma Yuan replied coldly: “Do you think we wouldn’t trace it back to you?”
I laughed: “Officer Ma, you police officers need to rely on evidence when handling cases.”
"If there is no evidence, then please keep your mouth shut."
Ma Yuan's face turned a deep shade of anger. He suddenly stood up and slammed his hand on the table.
"Miss Lin, don't get too arrogant!"
"You better come clean, or else..."
I interrupted him, "Or else what?"
"Officer Ma, this is the police station; you need to be responsible for what you say."
Ma Yuan took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He sat back down and composed himself.
"Alright, let's talk about it."
"Where were you on the night of August 16th at eight o'clock?"
I thought for a moment. "I was at the flower shop."
Ma Yuan asked again, "Is there anyone who can vouch for that?"
I smiled. "The flower shop has surveillance cameras; if Officer Ma doesn't believe me, I can pull up the footage for you."
Ma Yuan narrowed his eyes. "But according to our information, you left the flower shop for a while that day."
I nodded. "I went to restock."
Ma Yuan scoffed. "Restock?"
"Miss Lin, do you think that excuse is reasonable?"
"Yu Fenglin died at eight o'clock in the evening, and your restocking time just happened to be around eight o'clock."
I smiled again. "Officer Ma, your word isn't enough; evidence speaks for itself."
"If Officer Ma can find evidence, I have nothing more to say."
