Li Lin followed Alfred through the dimly lit underground passage, accompanied by Liya and Xiao Xing. The ground trembled more violently with each step, and debris fell from above.
"Who are they?" Li Lin whispered, her eyes scanning the surroundings warily.
Alfred's expression was grave. "The forces hunting you have been searching for the Starwing Beast."
Liya clutched Xiao Xing tightly. "What should we do?"
"There’s only one way," Alfred replied. "We must head to the Nameless Land immediately."
Li Lin frowned. "Nameless Land? What kind of place is that?"
"A region that has yet to be explored," Alfred explained. "It may hold secrets about the Starwing Beast."
Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed as the metal door at the end of the passage blew open. Li Lin quickly shielded Liya and Xiao Xing behind her while Alfred hurriedly operated the control panel on the wall.
"Hurry!" Alfred shouted. "If we go through this passage, we can shake them off."
A concealed door opened, and the four of them quickly slipped inside, hearing the furious shouts and gunfire of their pursuers behind them. Li Lin's heart raced as she tightened her grip on her weapon.
They navigated through the intricate underground tunnels until they arrived at a vast circular chamber, at the center of which stood a peculiar-looking machine.
"What is this?" Liya asked in astonishment.
Alfred worked swiftly on the machine. "An ancient teleportation device. It can send us directly to the Nameless Land."
Li Lin eyed Alfred warily. "Are you sure this thing is safe?"
"We have no choice," Alfred said urgently. "They'll be on us any moment."
The machine emitted a buzzing sound, and a blinding light enveloped the four of them. Li Lin felt a dizzying sensation, and in the next moment, they found themselves in a desolate wasteland.
A biting cold wind howled past, surrounded by rolling yellow sands. Li Lin looked around, a sense of unease rising within him.
"Is this the Nameless Land?" he asked.
Alfred nodded. "That's right. We need to find shelter quickly."
Suddenly, a low rumble echoed from the horizon. Li Lin looked up to see a massive yellow vortex of dust approaching them.
"Damn it! A sandstorm!" Li Lin cursed. "We need to find cover fast!"
The four struggled against the fierce wind, grains of sand slicing at their skin. Li Lin shielded Liya and Xiao Xing with his body, squinting to search for possible shelter.
At that moment, Xiao Xing suddenly stirred in Liya's arms, emitting a faint chirp.
"Li Lin, Xiao Xing seems to sense something!" Liya shouted.
Following Xiao Xing's direction, Li Lin vaguely spotted a half-buried underground entrance. Without a second thought, they rushed toward it. Just as they squeezed into the entrance, the sandstorm swallowed everything behind them.
The underground space was dim and damp, with strange glowing plants crawling along the walls. Li Lin cautiously surveyed their surroundings, gripping his weapon tightly while Alfred excitedly examined the symbols on the wall.
"This is incredible," he murmured. "These symbols... they're telling the history of the Starwing Beast."
Suddenly, a deep growl resonated from the darkness. Li Lin quickly positioned Liya behind him while Xiao Xing emitted a warning chirp.
"Be careful!" Alfred shouted. "There might be mutated creatures here!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a massive mutated insect lunged out from the shadows. Li Lin reacted swiftly, dodging to the side and plunging his weapon into the creature's eye.
The monster let out a piercing scream, thrashing wildly. Li Lin was thrown back and crashed heavily to the ground.
"Li Lin!" Liya gasped as Xiao Xing suddenly broke free from her embrace and dashed toward Li Lin.
In that critical moment, Xiao Xing's body radiated a brilliant blue light. An energy wave swept through the space, sending the attacking creature flying away.
Li Lin stared in astonishment at Xiao Xing, noticing its size had slightly increased and its eyes shone brighter. He felt an intense emotional wave as if he could understand Xiao Xing's thoughts.
"It's... it's protecting us," Li Lin murmured.
Alfred trembled with excitement. "This is unbelievable! Its powers are awakening!"
Li Lin stood up and gently patted Xiao Xing's head. "Thank you, little one."
Suddenly, the entire underground space began to shake violently, and the symbols on the walls emitted a faint glow, as if responding to Xiao Xing's power.
"We need to get out of here quickly!" Li Lin shouted. "This place is going to collapse!"
The four of them hurriedly escaped the underground space and returned to the surface. The sandstorm had passed, but the sky was overcast, with lightning streaking across the night.
Li Lin looked at Xiao Xing in his arms, filled with questions and concerns. He knew that their journey had only just begun, and the Nameless Land seemed to conceal even more dangers and secrets.
