Li Lin and the others were hiding in an abandoned factory, the atmosphere heavy with tension. "We need to find a way to rescue Lao Zhang," he said.
Liya frowned. "But we don't even know where he's being held."
Lao Yang sighed. "The Raiders Group has too many strongholds; acting recklessly would be too dangerous."
Li Lin clenched his fists, struggling internally. "But we can't just sit back and do nothing."
Suddenly, Xiao Xing let out a soft chirp. Li Lin looked down and saw a strange light flickering in its eyes.
"Can you sense Lao Zhang?" Li Lin asked in surprise.
Xiao Xing nodded gently, indicating a direction. A glimmer of hope rose in Li Lin's heart.
"Let's go," he ordered decisively.
The group quietly infiltrated one of the Raiders Group's underground facilities. Li Lin scanned the surroundings warily, his heart racing.
"There," Xiao Xing called softly.
Following its gaze, Li Lin spotted a figure locked in a cage. "Lao Zhang!"
They quickly freed Lao Zhang, but his reaction left Li Lin feeling uneasy.
"Why are you here?" Lao Zhang's tone was strange, lacking both joy and fear.
Li Lin stared into Lao Zhang's eyes. "What happened?"
Lao Zhang avoided his gaze. "It's nothing; let's hurry and leave."
At that moment, Liya suddenly exclaimed, "Wait! He has a drug reaction!"
Li Lin's heart raced. "What do you mean?"
Liya's expression turned serious. "He might have been injected with some kind of drug. He’s probably under control."
The air instantly thickened, and everyone stared at Lao Zhang, feeling a pang of sorrow. His old comrade had turned into this.
"We need to get him out of here," Li Lin gritted his teeth. "No matter what happens, we have to save him."
Just then, Jack burst in. "Not good! We’ve spotted two raider scouts nearby!"
The tension in the room escalated. Li Lin took a deep breath and quickly devised a plan.
"We'll split up," he ordered decisively. "Liya, you take Lao Zhang and retreat. Lao Yang and Jack, you draw the scouts away while Xiao Xing and I hold the rear."
Everyone sprang into action, but things didn’t go as smoothly as hoped. The number of raiders far exceeded their expectations, and they were soon surrounded.
Li Lin looked around at the dark muzzles of the guns pointed at them, despair flooding his heart. Just then, Xiao Xing let out a sharp cry.
A blinding light erupted, enveloping the entire space. Li Lin felt everything go dark, and when he regained consciousness, he found himself back in the abandoned factory.
"What just happened?" Li Lin asked, looking at his equally bewildered companions.
Liya checked on Lao Zhang's condition. "The drug reaction is gone; he’s back to normal."
Lao Zhang slowly opened his eyes, filled with pain. "I'm sorry; I almost got you all killed."
Li Lin patted his shoulder reassuringly. "It's okay; we're safe now."
Lao Zhang shook his head. "No, I must tell you a terrible secret."
Everyone held their breath, waiting for him to continue.
"Black Blade has a secret operation called the 'Purification Plan,'" Lao Zhang said with difficulty. "They intend to use a new type of virus to eliminate all the beasts in the wasteland."
Li Lin felt a chill run down her spine. "Including Xiao Xing?"
Lao Zhang nodded. "Yes, and it's not just the beasts; this virus could have a devastating impact on the entire ecosystem."
Liya gasped. "Oh my God, we have to stop them."
Li Lin clenched her fists, determination shining in her eyes. "We will, no matter the cost."
Just then, a cold voice suddenly echoed through the room. "You want to stop us? You're still too inexperienced."
Li Lin spun around and saw Black Blade standing in the doorway, his eyes filled with mockery and arrogance.
"You think you've uncovered some secret?" Black Blade sneered. "Unfortunately, you'll never guess the truth."
Li Lin tightened her fists, her muscles tensing. She knew that an even tougher battle was about to begin.
