Xue Feifei lay leisurely on the beautiful couch, the heat of the island oppressive. Dressed in a thin, simple garment, she picked up a fruit from the platter on the small table and tossed it carelessly. Her pet, kneeling on the ground, scrambled with Xiao Ba to snatch it up, creating quite a lively scene.
As Xue Feifei was enjoying herself, Liu He approached to report, "Master of Ceremonies, the pet has been brought in."
The sound of clanking chains echoed as Xiao Bai was led in like a dog. He tugged at the chain around his neck and, upon catching sight of Xue Feifei, was abruptly kicked by Liu He. His knees buckled, and he fell to the ground with a thud.
Xue Feifei leaned forward, scrutinizing him closely. Xiao Bai wore a specially tailored new outfit that made him look elegant and distinguished. Although his face was flushed, it added a touch of spring-like charm to his appearance. Lazily reclining on the couch, she watched him with a mischievous smile. She raised her slender leg, the graceful lines wrapped in sheer fabric, partially revealing her creamy skin as the flowing skirt cascaded down.
She hooked her toe under Xiao Bai's pointed chin, forcing him to look at her and breathed softly, "Smile."
Xiao Bai suppressed the humiliation of such a demeaning command and closed his eyes, ignoring her order.
He wanted to survive, but his intense pride made him prefer death.
Noticing his defiance, Xue Feifei kicked him down to the ground and stepped forward to tear open his clothing. On his white skin were numerous whip marks—some had healed while others were still oozing pus.
Xue Feifei toyed with a small porcelain bottle and popped the cork with a snap. With a light laugh, she said, "This little bug is unique to Penglai Guest; it feeds on human flesh and drinks blood." Leaning close to his ear with a teasing smile, she whispered, "Guess what will happen if I sprinkle it on your wounds? It’ll be much more delightful than pouring salt on them."
Before he could respond, she acted.
The previously numb wounds suddenly erupted in excruciating pain. Xiao Bai's eyes widened in shock; he bit down on his lower lip until it bled. The knife-like agony spread through every pore and mercilessly tore at his flesh. Despite rolling on the ground in pain, he refused to let out a single groan. Ultimately unable to withstand the bone-deep torment any longer, he cried out sharply, "Ah..."
Seeing him in such agony, losing his composure and twitching all over without the earlier calm demeanor that looked down upon everyone else, Xue Feifei rubbed her thumb across her nose triumphantly and declared, "Who told you not to listen to me?"
When Xiaobai woke up, he was startled to see Xue Feifei in front of him, his eyes widening involuntarily.
"What's wrong? Are you surprised that you're not dead?"
Xue Feifei laughed heartily, hands on her hips, and said casually, "I forgot to tell you, these little bugs secrete a kind of mucus while they feast on rotting flesh and suck blood. This mucus can heal wounds quickly."
Xiaobai looked down and saw that the wounds on his body had indeed healed completely. He let out a sigh of relief; so that was it. He had thought she was truly ruthless, deriving pleasure from torturing others.
Xue Feifei teased, "Look at your disappointed face. Don't be in such a hurry to die; it would be boring if it happened all at once."
She licked her lips and smiled mischievously. "Let's... do it again."
Xiaobai flinched back in fear, instinctively trying to dodge. Had he guessed wrong? Was this just the beginning of the torment?
Xue Feifei changed her tone. "If you don't want to suffer again, you need to learn to please me. Smile!"
If it was just about smiling, for a man like him, it wasn't too much to ask. It was better to humor her than endure her torment.
Slowly, Xiaobai raised his face. Though forced, as he moved his lips, an air of elegance flowed from him, revealing the demeanor of a refined gentleman.
Xue Feifei had intended to say something harsh to scare him, but Xiaobai's smile was truly captivating. She froze for a moment, unable to help but smile back with an innocent grin.
Neither knew how long that moment lasted until Xiaobai snapped back to reality first. He cleared his throat awkwardly and avoided her gaze.
Standing nearby, Liu Hexi raised an eyebrow and exclaimed, "Congratulations, my lord, on capturing a new favorite! I will go prepare the Pet Ceremony right away."
