The younger sister fell in love with her sister-in-law's husband's brother-in-law, while the brother-in-law was infatuated with the sister of his sister-in-law's husband. The mother-in-law had a fondness for the brother-in-law's brother's sister.
The sister-in-law was aware of the situation involving her brother-in-law's sister's husband and his wife, and the mother-in-law also knew that the sister-in-law was aware of her affection for her sister-in-law's husband's wife. Meanwhile, the younger sister knew that her husband was aware of the mother-in-law's feelings for the brother-in-law's brother's wife's husband.
Thus, the sister-in-law teamed up with the wife of her husband's brother to have the wife of the brother-in-law who loved her husband cancel their household registration.
Does it feel like your brain is about to "burn" from all this?
If you didn't catch that, let's continue.
Today, we are discussing a case that is said to be one of the most brutal incidents in rural Sichuan.
An honest farmer was riding his bike when he was unexpectedly stabbed seven times, each wound nearly fatal.
However, when the police investigated, they discovered that this case was far from simple. One involved a wife who could still laugh and joke after learning of her husband's death, and another was a sister-in-law repeatedly accused of having questionable morals.
Who could be the real murderer? By the end of the investigation, the family's relationships were shocking.
Incident Occurrence Location: Luzhou City, Sichuan Province.

On the night of September 20, 2013, Wang Xinhua was preparing to ride his bike home after a long day at work when he noticed a motorcycle lying on the road near a bend not far from the village.
As someone who often helped others, he approached to lend a hand and was horrified to find his third brother, Pan Ping, lying in a pool of blood—already dead.
Seeing this scene, Wang Xinhua quickly called the police. The authorities arrived at the scene immediately.
Initial investigations revealed that this was not a traffic accident but rather a murder case.
"There were no obvious brake marks, nor were there any signs of collision or broken pieces left behind."
The deceased had been stabbed seven times, with nearly every wound being fatal, ultimately succumbing to excessive blood loss.
"Out of the seven stabs, four were lethal, and six were located on the upper body."
Moreover, there were bloodstains scattered all over the scene.
The police deduced that the victim may have fought with the assailant; if a struggle occurred, it would surely leave some traces behind.
Upon a more thorough examination of the scene, the police discovered a zipper pull from a jacket on the left side of the deceased. It was evident that this zipper pull did not belong to the victim's clothing.
Biological samples extracted from the zipper pull revealed that it belonged to a man named Qin, who was from Jiangyang District in Luzhou City, born in 1972, making him 41 years old, and had a history of drug use.
Further investigation showed that Qin and the victim, Pan Ping, were fellow villagers. He was familiar with the area and had the means to commit the crime.
Given this context, Qin became a prime suspect.
The police immediately began tracking his movements. However, they were disappointed to find that Qin had an alibi; his DNA had been inadvertently left at the scene before the incident occurred.
The case quickly became complicated. Who would brutally murder a man in his forties on the highway?
There were no signs of theft from the victim's belongings, indicating that this was likely a planned and premeditated murder. The police decided to investigate Pan Ping's social connections.
"I'm not a bad person aside from being a bit annoying with my words," he had said.
Pan Ping was a construction worker whose only hobby outside of work was playing cards. He got along well with his neighbors.
Additionally, the police learned that two years prior, due to the demolition of Pan Ping's house in the city, he had moved to this village to live with his in-laws.
The only discord in the village stemmed from a conflict between him and Sister Zeng Cuifang, which arose from some verbal disputes.
"The main issue was related to the support of the elderly. The disputes were not very prominent, meaning this conflict had not escalated or erupted dramatically."
However, Zeng Cuifang moved out of the village six months ago after her divorce, and since then, the two families had no further contact.
"Since she got divorced, even if she had previous interactions with her family, the person who called her out now is also familiar with each other."
"And for some purpose, they fabricated a lie to deceive her wife, allowing them to leave home to attend to other matters."
Through extensive investigations by the police, it was discovered that Pan Ping had a close female friend with whom he had an inappropriate relationship. They also had financial dealings and shared a bank account.
"Whether during their interactions or between their families, there were no unusual circumstances."
According to police analysis, even if the unfamiliar man present on the day of the incident was not the murderer, he certainly knew Pan Ping's last whereabouts.
However, after inquiries, apart from Pan Ping's wife having seen this person, no one else had encountered him. Did this unfamiliar man simply vanish?
The police deduced that this stranger likely used some form of transportation to quickly leave the scene that day, which explained why so few people had seen him.
While continuing their investigation nearby, an elderly woman mentioned that around 9 PM, a small car had turned around in front of her house.
Upon arriving at the scene for inspection, the police found that this location was not a common spot for drivers to turn around. The choice to do so indicated that the driver had reached their destination and did not need to proceed further.
This location was less than 10 meters from the deceased Pan Ping's home. The owner of a nearby convenience store also reported seeing a taxi that night.
Through police investigations, it was confirmed that the taxi present at the incident scene was indeed the same vehicle.
By examining surveillance footage from the incident site, it was revealed that at 8:41 PM on the night of the incident, a taxi arrived in the village, and by 9:14 PM, it had left.
The police deduced that after the taxi arrived in the village, the passengers got out and went to the victim's home. After calling the victim out, they killed him on the way and then took the taxi away from the scene.
To solve this case, it seemed they could only start by finding this taxi. Since the surveillance footage was unclear and did not show the license plate number, the police had no choice but to post notices and conduct extensive interviews.
A few days later, a taxi driver came to the police station. He said that on the night of the incident, he had been to the village where the victim lived.
On the night of the incident at 8:30 PM, a man and a woman got into his car and asked to go to Huayang Village, which was where the victim lived.
Upon arrival, the man got out of the car, leaving only the woman inside.
They told the driver to wait for a moment, saying that the man would be back shortly.
Ten minutes later, the woman called the man to ask if everything was settled.
Then she instructed the driver to take her to an intersection, after which the man left the scene.
As they departed, they noticed something on the roadside at the incident scene.
"I saw a motorcycle by the road, and there was a person there too. I noticed that the man seemed to have blood on him. At that moment, another person was on their phone; he saw my taxi and flagged me down, indicating that I should take the injured person to the hospital. But that woman said, 'Oh, that's so scary! We won't go; we'll walk ourselves.'"
From the driver's description, it matched what the victim's wife had said about a man who also carried a bag.
When police showed photos of potential suspects to the driver, he immediately recognized that woman from the night of the incident—she was Zeng Cuifang.
However, during their investigation, there was no evidence indicating any conflict between Zeng Cuifang and Pan Ping that could lead to murder. So what was her motive?
And who was that man?
Through further investigation, it was revealed that the man from that night was named Pan Futian, 65 years old, from Anning Town in Luzhou City. He was likely to be the murderer in this case.
Through the driver's identification, it was confirmed that the man that night was Pan Futian, and the police immediately launched a capture operation against the two individuals. After bringing them to the police station, one of them quickly confessed to the crime.
Why did they kill Pan Ping? The answer lies in the relationship between Zeng Cuifang and her in-laws.
For the past twenty years since marrying into her in-laws' family, she had never been favored by her mother-in-law, as she had previously worked in a disreputable profession before marriage, which brought great shame to her husband's family.
Seven years ago, she gave birth to her second child, but her mother-in-law believed that this child was not her true grandson. This led to conflicts between Zeng Cuifang and her mother-in-law, with Zeng always being the weaker party.
Due to the prejudices stemming from her past profession, she was often looked down upon by her family, even her husband sided with his mother. In contrast, Pan Ping was very filial, and his parents adored him, which made Zeng Cuifang feel deeply ironic.
An incident that occurred later intensified Zeng Cuifang's hatred for Pan Ping. She overheard him trying to sow discord between her and her husband by saying things like, "A woman like that brings shame to the whole family."
By March 2013, Zeng Cuifang could no longer bear the ridicule from her family and chose to divorce, taking her children away from the village. However, the seed of hatred had already taken root in her heart.
After the divorce, Zeng Cuifang soon met 65-year-old Pan Futian. Although he was over twenty years older than her, he promised that he would do anything for her as long as she stayed with him.
It was this promise that provided Zeng Cuifang with an opportunity for revenge. She wanted Pan Futian to take revenge on her in-laws and proposed killing Pan Ping so that her in-laws would live in pain for the rest of their lives—a fate more satisfying than simply killing them. Pan Futian agreed.
On the night of the incident, Pan Futian went to Pan Ping's house and knocked on the door under the pretense of his mother being ill. He deceived Pan Ping and, when Pan Ping was distracted on their way, brutally murdered him.
At last, the truth of the case was revealed.
