Chongzhen Temple is located in the mountains. It is famous for its prosperous incense and has always been a place for believers within a hundred miles to pray. The flying eaves and brackets of the temple are hidden among the verdant ancient trees. The green tiles shine in the sun, like a natural ink painting. Inside the temple, the stone steps are winding, and the stone lions on both sides guard it like loyal guards. On the night of the Ghost Festival, the temple is crowded with people and incense is curling. The hall is brightly lit, and the believers kneel devoutly, muttering something in their mouths, praying for the protection of the gods. However, in the deep shadows, the wind rustles the leaves, like a ghost whispering, adding a touch of mystery and gloom to this quiet fairyland. The candlelight in the hall flickers, casting strange shadows on the mottled walls. The shadows sometimes twist and dance, performing a ghost play like a silent shadow play. The sandalwood in the air cannot cover up the looming chill, like a cold wind from the netherworld. Lu Haotian stood in the crowd, his expression solemn, out of tune with the devout believers around him. He was dressed in a neat suit, his face was stern, and he exuded the confidence and majesty of a successful person. As a leader in the business world, he has always pursued practical interests and sneered at the talk of gods and ghosts. He glanced around with sharp eyes, as if he was examining a business rather than participating in a ritual. However, his career has suffered setbacks recently, as if he was possessed by an evil spirit and everything went wrong. Partners suddenly changed their minds, important projects were inexplicably aborted, and even the most capable assistant disappeared strangely. This made Lu Haotian, who had always been in control of the situation, overwhelmed and helpless. In desperation, he was pulled by his friends to participate in the ritual, hoping to dispel the bad luck. He thought to himself: "I am the president of the Lu Group, but I have fallen to the point of coming here to pray to the gods." He felt helpless, but he had to admit that his inner anxiety was gradually eroding his reason. Just as he was about to turn around and leave, a deep bell sounded, echoing in the temple, like a call from the underworld. The bell sounded low and long, striking his heart, as if to hook his soul away. Insects chirped in the distance, interweaving with the bell sound, adding a bit of weirdness. Lu Haotian stopped and thought to himself: "Why is the bell sound so strange? Is there really a ghost?" He felt a sense of inexplicable fear, but couldn't help but explore. Lu Yao, who presided over the ritual, was wearing a lavender Taoist robe, holding a magic weapon, and had a solemn expression. She was young, but she was already the master of a temple. She had profound Taoism and was quite famous in the local area. Her clear voice was particularly prominent among the chanting of scriptures, like a trickle, soothing the restless hearts of the believers, and also made Lu Haotian feel a little calm. "The Supreme Order, to save the souls of the dead. The divine power is prominent, and the underworld is universal." Although Lu Yao's voice was light, it seemed to have the power to penetrate the soul. The believers bowed their heads and worshiped, chanting something. Lu Haotian looked up at Lu Yao, and could not help but feel a sense of awe. This young Taoist nun had a heroic look in her brows, and her gestures revealed an extraordinary temperament, which was completely different from the ordinary women he had seen. "Knock!" Lu Yao gave an order, and the believers knelt one after another. Although Lu Haotian did not believe it in his heart, he followed the crowd. He secretly laughed at his own stupidity, but admitted the expectation deep in his heart. When the ritual was halfway through, something strange happened! "Ah - ghost -" 0

A scream broke the silence, and a middle-aged woman in a green cheongsam pointed at the void in the corner of the hall with a look of horror on her face. "Nonsense!" Lu Yao raised her eyebrows, "This is a quiet place, how can you be here to confuse people!" However, the middle-aged woman seemed to be possessed, and kept screaming: "He's there! He wants to kill me!" Her eyes were wide open, and her fingers were trembling as she pointed at the void. The screams spread like a plague, and the crowd suddenly fell into chaos. Some people desperately squeezed out, some knelt down to pray, and some collapsed on the ground and couldn't move. Seeing this, Lu Yao hurriedly waved the magic weapon and muttered something. However, the development of things exceeded her expectations. The Yin energy in the temple seemed to be stimulated by something and became thick, surrounding everyone like a tide. "Creaky-creaky-" The ancient wooden structure made a tooth-grinding sound. "Drip-drip-drip-" The deep red liquid seeped out of the wall. "Woo-woo-woo-" The shrill cries came from all directions. Lu Haotian was in it, his whole body was cold. He felt as if he had fallen into hell, like a nightmare. Just as he was confused, a blurry figure slowly appeared. The figure's face was distorted, and his facial features could not be seen clearly. Only the blood-red eyes flickered in the darkness. "Give me back my life!" The vengeful spirit let out a shrill roar and pointed directly at Lu Haotian! The voice seemed to come from the Nine Nether Hell, making people tremble with fear. 0

"It's him! It's him!" The appearance of the vengeful spirit completely broke the psychological defenses of the people. Screams, cries, and curses intertwined. Lu Haotian was locked in the gaze of the vengeful spirit, and felt a chill running from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. He wanted to escape but found that his legs were as weak as lead and he couldn't move. Just as the vengeful spirit was about to pounce on Lu Haotian, a flash of purple light passed by and forced the vengeful spirit back. It was Lu Yao! She held a magic weapon in front of Lu Haotian, and was fearless like a guardian. "Don't be so arrogant!" Lu Yao shouted, and the magic weapon in her hand burst into dazzling light. The vengeful spirit roared unwillingly and began to dissipate. "You can't escape! It's been twelve years! The debt must be repaid!" After the vengeful spirit disappeared, only the voice was left echoing in the temple. As the vengeful spirit disappeared, the temple returned to peace. However, Lu Haotian's heart was in turmoil. He understood that some things did not exist unless he believed them. He seemed to have been involved in a vortex that he could not escape. Lu Haotian subconsciously looked at Lu Yao, only to see that she looked solemn. "Master, we need to talk." Lu Haotian nodded and followed Lu Yao to the back hall to find out the truth. "Master, do you know why the vengeful spirit is looking for you?" Lu Yao asked straight to the point. Lu Haotian shook his head. "I really don't understand." 0

Lu Yao sighed softly. "There is a cause and effect in the dark. Do you remember the twelve years that the vengeful spirit mentioned?" Lu Haotian frowned and thought. Suddenly, he remembered something and his face changed suddenly. "Twelve years ago... That was when I just started my business..." Lu Yao nodded. "There must be a reason for the grudge." Lu Haotian was silent for a long time and finally looked up. "Please give me some advice, Taoist priest." Lu Yao smiled slightly. "Since the patron saint has this intention, I will help you." At this moment, a gust of cold wind blew through the candlelight and the atmosphere in the back hall suddenly became gloomy and terrifying. She looked normal and waved her hand gently, and the candlelight returned to calm. "Don't panic, this is a sign from the underworld." Lu Yao explained, "It seems that this cause and effect is very far-reaching." Lu Haotian took a deep breath. "I wonder what you think?" Lu Yao pondered for a moment. "You can use our round light technique to observe it." Lu Haotian nodded. "Okay, but..." He hesitated, "Can Taoist priest tell Fa Jin?" Lu Yao smiled slightly. "Don't worry, please feel free to do what you want. But..." Her tone became serious. This fateful conversation made the shadows of the two people intertwine under the candlelight, one long and one short, one moving and one still, just like the gears of fate starting to turn... 0
