Nightmare threw the Light Arc Dagger of Stalker onto the ground, locking eyes with her opponent coldly. After taking a few steps forward, Stalker gave Nightmare no chance to breathe and drew another Light Arc Dagger strapped to her thigh, slipping into the shadows and swimming toward her!
In that instant, Nightmare's sharp gaze caught on to Stalker's attack pattern—whenever she entered the shadows and transformed back into human form, there was a telltale wind-up, akin to a whale breaching the surface, lasting a full half-second of Time!
If she could seize this opportunity, perhaps she could truly counterattack and turn the tide in her favor. However, Stalker's blade had already descended. As Nightmare parried while retreating, the Dreamfall sniper rifle in its sword form had a natural advantage in reach, keeping Stalker's Light Arc Dagger at bay. Stalker found it difficult to exploit any openings for close combat.
Seeing that her prolonged assault yielded no results, Stalker leaped into the air, executing a spinning double kick. Nightmare immediately raised her blade to block Stalker's incoming legs, using the force of the kick to flip backward and successfully create distance between them.
The first direct confrontation ended; it was merely a test of each other's depths. Indeed, Stalker and Nightmare were nearly equal in martial prowess, but Nightmare was injured while trying to save Divine Fist and remained at a disadvantage overall.
This situation couldn't continue; she had to quickly exploit her opponent's weaknesses. With that thought in mind, Nightmare pressed a knob on her rifle. The sound of a bullet chambering echoed as the Dreamfall sniper rifle switched back to its normal sniper form while also changing to a special magazine.
Seeing her opponent voluntarily switch from sword to sniper rifle at such close range made Stalker scoff with disdain—did she really think she could leverage the advantages of a sniper rifle at this distance? It was utterly ridiculous.
"Switching to a sniper rifle at such close combat distance? Don't you think that's foolish?" Stalker sneered.
Nightmare said nothing but raised her sniper rifle and aimed at Stalker—she was gambling.
Just as she expected, feigning an aim caused Stalker to dive into the shadows immediately. In the shadows, Nightmare's bullets couldn't harm her at all, but that was precisely the effect she wanted; she didn't need to hit with her first shot—forcing Stalker into the shadows meant she had already fallen into her trap.
Stalker swam toward her at high speed; unable to aim accurately at such close range through the scope, Jiao An focused entirely on tracking Stalker's movements with her naked eye. The moment Stalker approached within striking distance, a Recoil Projectile was fired!
This move surprised even Stalker; she shot up from the shadows. Though her Light Arc Dagger had locked onto Nightmare's throat, it missed because Nightmare had dodged backward two positions due to the recoil from the projectile. Quickly regaining her footing and re-locking onto her target, Stalker dove back into the shadows again. Nightmare's bullet missed once more, but that was exactly what she wanted!
Using her bullets to force Stalker back into the shadows while employing Recoil Projectiles to create distance allowed Nightmare to fully exploit Stalker's wind-up when transforming back into human form. After numerous missteps, she sought out the most forgiving method for a kill—that was Nightmare's strategy.
Clearly unaware that she had fallen into a trap, Stalker believed Nightmare was simply afraid of her and was using Recoil Projectiles to maintain distance while stalling for time until Divine Fist and Aibo could arrive. At this moment, all she wanted was to eliminate this sniper who kept retreating like a clown with Recoil Projectiles. After all, how could she lose to an Earthling without any superpowers?
"Where do you think you're hiding?!" Stalker emerged from the shadows again with another upward slash; another Recoil Projectile forced Nightmare away from her again. For a moment, she felt humiliated by her opponent's actions and became furious once more as she dove back into the shadows, almost believing she had evaded Nightmare's bullets.
But this time, Nightmare did not retreat any longer; having tried more than ten times already and running low on Recoil Projectiles, retreating further would lead her straight into street barriers. She switched magazines again and raised her sniper rifle at such close range—
"Die!"
"Boom!"
A grenade exploded just as Stalker leaped out of the shadows and completed her transformation! Nightmare could even feel the blade of the Light Arc Dagger graze against her throat, but her perfect prediction allowed the grenade to strike Stalker directly! After about ten uses of Recoil Projectiles creating distance and timing Stalker's transformation back into human form, Nightmare had deeply engraved that wind-up Time in her mind. Thus, this grenade could be so precisely timed that it successfully dealt heavy damage!
Stalker lay crippled from the explosion; her left arm was blown off, and her abdomen was mangled with intestines spilling onto the ground behind her. Lying in a pool of blood, she still refused to give up; reaching out with one hand as if trying to push herself up from the ground. Nightmare stepped forward and pinned her down with one foot while aiming at the back of her head.
"Go ahead and kill me, Sniper Jiao An," Stalker's face pressed against the pavement as she glanced sideways at Nightmare with a grim smile. "Three years—the conflict between our two races—I’ve shown mercy enough."
"Mercy? You still have the audacity to claim mercy," Nightmare pressed the gun against her temple. "I won't kill you because it's not my place to do so; your crimes will be remembered by everyone on Earth—including An Xiaotian."
Yang Meng's murder was something An Xiaotian could never forget. The stalker let out a soft sigh and closed her eyes—she was already gravely injured and could no longer summon the Time Portal; all she could do was lie there and wait for death.
On the other side, Divine Fist and Aibo worked well together, but unfortunately, Shatterer's armor was too thick to break through. Divine Fist unleashed a fully charged punch at Shatterer's leg joint, but it seemed as if Shatterer didn't even feel it. Despite being attacked by the two, Shatterer remained unfazed. He kicked Divine Fist away and then unleashed two straight punches aimed at Aibo's face. Aibo, who had never trained in hand-to-hand combat, was forced to retreat under Shatterer's pressure, ultimately having to shield his body with his arms.
Seeing that his opponent's attacks were uncoordinated, Shatterer concluded that this Stone Giant had definitely not trained before, which made him even more reckless. He swung a hammer down onto Aibo's forehead.
Aibo instantly felt dizzy, his defense weakening. Seizing the opportunity, Shatterer delivered an uppercut that knocked him down. Vehicles on the roadside were crushed under Aibo's massive body, intermittent yellow lights flashing along with blaring car horns until Shatterer stomped down again, silencing them completely.
The second-tier commander-level warrior was no joke; Shatterer's strength was indeed formidable. Years ago, Fierce Eagle and Divine Fist had managed to defeat him through clever tactics. After their last battle, Gad had specifically reinforced the armor's resistance to electric shocks upon returning to the mothership. Even if Fierce Eagle were present today, he would be unable to handle Shatterer.
Having dealt with Aibo, Shatterer immediately turned back. He knew that Divine Fist had only been kicked away and still had the ability to counterattack. Compared to Aibo, a master of martial arts like him posed a greater threat.
As expected, Divine Fist was already back on his feet and charging towards him. Shatterer activated a switch in his arm's armor, assembling a heavy machine gun with a large caliber that began spewing rapid fire at Divine Fist. Divine Fist sprinted with all his might; any moment of hesitation would result in being shot in half by bullets the size of bowls.
Bullets chased after Divine Fist, exploding on the ground and creating a path of destruction behind him. Realizing his aim was off and that Divine Fist was moving too quickly, Shatterer prepared to adjust his aim forward to predict his movements. The battle between strong opponents had only just begun—Divine Fist seemed to have anticipated Shatterer's predictive aiming; he switched his right-hand rocket-cannon dual propulsion device to cannon mode and rapidly charged it up. At the moment of firing, he angled his arm vertically towards the ground while using force from his waist; his legs released like a bowstring that had been pulled tight, utilizing the cannon's recoil to complete a 360-degree turn in mid-air, evading the incoming stream of bullets!
Shatterer did not expect this maneuver at all. Having fought close-range battles for so many years, dodging bullets had become second nature for Divine Fist. With this seemingly insignificant turning motion, he successfully evaded Shatterer's bullets and leaped into the air. The rocket device on his left side began amplifying his power as he charged towards Shatterer; when he reached him, he unleashed a punch fueled by nitrogen from the rocket that struck Shatterer's head shield with explosive force!
The glass shards from the mask flew outwards as Shatterer closed his eyes too late; one shard pierced into his left eye. "Ah!" he instinctively covered his injured eye, temporarily losing the ability to counterattack. This rare moment of leniency allowed Divine Fist to find his rhythm; he stepped forward with an uppercut that hit Shatterer's chest plate followed by a powerful jab to his abdomen and an uppercut that briefly knocked him unconscious. Finally, he used an elbow strike to break through Shatterer's defensive arms and delivered a sweeping kick to his face!
Divine Fist's sudden explosive attack rendered Shatterer unable to retaliate for a moment; however, due to weight suppression, it was difficult for Divine Fist to shake him off completely. Just as victory seemed imminent, Aibo surprisingly regained consciousness from the explosion and rushed forward to grab hold of Shatterer's arms, preventing him from moving freely.
Seizing this rare opportunity, Divine Fist continued with a rapid combination of punches and kicks that knocked off piece after piece of armor from Shatterer! But true to being one of Ban Sa's elite warriors within The Celestial Warriors Alliance, even under the combined might of two heroes known for their strength, Shatterer let out an earth-shattering roar. With both arms restrained, he exerted tremendous force and easily lifted Aibo off his back before suddenly bending over—
In an instant, everything flipped; Aibo was slammed down onto the ground with a heavy thud that sent up a massive cloud of dust. Forced to dodge quickly, Divine Fist interrupted his combo attack just in time as Shatterer swung a fist down towards him. With the mechanical gauntlet's support, he barely caught it; unexpectedly, Shatterer's other hand reached out and grabbed him by the head!
"I'll crush your skull!" The one-eyed Shatterer roared in fury through the shattered mask as blood trickled from his left eye while he spat at Divine Fist whom he had lifted up.
