"Because he is not a Green Snake at all; his true form is the Cloud Dragon."
Bai Ze's words struck me like a bolt from the blue, leaving me pale and speechless.
After that, I couldn't hear what Bai Ze was saying in my ear; I only vaguely understood that my existence as the ancient divine beast Golden Mane Roar, and my unfortunate fate, were entirely due to my master sealing away my memories. With those memories lost, my divine power had also fallen into slumber.
My current memories only began when I was bloodied and stumbling along Chang'an Street, rescued by the graceful descent of Bai Ze.
Beyond that, I knew nothing.
I felt like a martial arts manual, maliciously torn in half by a master.
After bidding farewell to Bai Ze, I melancholically rode on the Azure Serpent Lord, looking down at the masses below. Thinking of my own situation made me want to cry.
My master was wandering the world with no set return date, and the only one I could trust, the Azure Serpent Lord... was someone else's husband.
I had thoroughly explored every inch of the Azure Serpent Lord; surely I would be swallowed whole by the Fire Phoenix.
I said coldly, "Should I call you A Qing now, or Immortal lord Xuan Ye?"
In response to my disdain, he remained calm and shameless.
"No matter who I am, you will always be in my heart."
The golden eyes of the Azure Serpent Lord gazed deep into my heart, igniting a fierce flame within.
I recalled the day I bit him at the Cloud Palace; he let out a low grunt and remained still, allowing me to gnaw at him. If it weren't for love, how could he endure such treatment?
Yet, I could not shy away from retrieving my memories. This was my only path to escape the unfortunate Little Immortal. I still needed to forcibly ride the Southern Polar Immortal's Nine Heavens Mysterious Crane, slap the arrogant Youthful Azure Luan Servant down from the Nine Heavens, and help Luo Su gather more celestial nectar...
There were countless things I wanted to accomplish that felt so far out of reach. Among them, the most important was: I wanted to know who that man was who appeared in my dreams every night. Why did my heart ache so painfully at the mere thought of his face?
The Azure Serpent Lord sighed, turning to wrap his arms around my slender waist, his warm lips brushing against my forehead.
"A Ci, I will accompany you in everything you wish to do, except for retrieving your memories."
I returned to the Nine Heavens in a gloomy mood. The Southern Polar Immortal had been waiting for me outside for quite some time. His rosy old face bore a drunken expression; that old man must have gone to Biyao Fairy's place for drinks again.
He immediately grabbed me and exclaimed, "Nan Ci the Little Immortal, you’re finally back!"
I shot him an impatient glare; I was in no mood to listen to his ramblings. However, what he said next made my heart skip a beat: he had encountered my master at Azure Yao Terrace, and my master had given me eight words of advice.
After pressing him for details, I learned those infuriating eight words: "Once the seal is broken, endless troubles will follow."
As soon as those words left his mouth, the Azure Serpent Lord's expression changed dramatically.
He swiftly embraced me as I prepared to rush to Biyao's residence to find my master and took off into the clouds. I looked around; why would he choose to return to Purple Cloud Palace instead of heading straight to Nine Heavens?
Luo Su stared at me in shock as I fell from the sky, his broom slipping from his grasp without him even noticing.
I turned to run, but Azure Serpent Lord wrapped his long arms around me, pulling me close. "Fire Phoenix will never return; Purple Cloud Palace is yours now."
Luo Su and I exchanged glances, shaking our heads in disbelief.
Azure Serpent Lord narrowed his golden eyes and lifted me effortlessly. "A Ci, from today onward, anything you desire in the Nine Heavens will be yours. In this three realms, wherever you wish to go—even into the dragon's lair or tiger's den—I will accompany you."
"Why are you being so nice to me?" I asked, feeling utterly lost.
He gazed at me with a deep longing. "Because I finally found you after so long, and I'm afraid of losing you again..."
His azure robes billowed in the winds of the Nine Heavens, and his golden eyes were filled with profound emotion.
Oh my... how could I possibly refuse him?
