In the clinic's Inner Hall, Xiao Luocheng brought the medicine to his lips and blew on it gently before carefully offering it to Shui Qingyue. "Qingyue, this is a calming potion I specially prepared for you. It works quite well."
Upon hearing his voice, Shui Qingyue violently knocked the bowl of medicine from Xiao Luocheng's hands. The steaming herbal concoction filled the air with swirling mist, blooming in her eyes.
"Get lost!" she screamed harshly, her voice nearly hoarse.
Xiao Luocheng was bewildered by her reaction, but he understood her pain. He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her slender waist, hoping to share his warmth with her.
Shui Qingyue was further enraged; the identity of a young lady was stripped away, revealing a woman marked by despair.
She struggled in Xiao Luocheng's embrace, using all her strength to break free. Yet, the more she fought, the tighter his grip became.
In a fit of rage, Shui Qingyue groped for something nearby without even looking. She seized it and swung it fiercely at Xiao Luocheng.
"Ah..."
A long scream escaped her lips as she finally broke free. When she turned to look at Xiao Luocheng again, she saw him covering his eyes, crimson liquid seeping through his fingers. He groaned softly, resembling a small beast in mild fury.
In her hand, Shui Qingyue tightly clutched the half-broken bowl. The sharp edges of the shattered pottery glinted dangerously; with just a flick of her wrist, Xiao Luocheng's sight was lost forever.
Blood flowed quickly down his fingers, staining his light-colored shirt.
"…Luo Chen, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," she said, collapsing to her knees, feeling more helpless than ever.
She only wanted to push him away; she never intended to hurt him.
"Qingyue, Qingyue!" Xiao Luocheng's eyes were closed, his hands flailing in the air. Shui Qingyue rushed over, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Qingyue, hurry! Go to the room and drink the rest of the medicine, quickly!"
Qingyue didn't understand what Xiao Luocheng meant, but having already hurt him, all she could do was listen to him carefully.
She entered the room and drank all the medicine from the jar. The bitter taste made her feel nauseous, and tears hung on her lashes, dropping one by one into the medicine bowl.
After finishing the medicine, she turned back to Xiao Luocheng's side.
"What do you want me to do?" Qingyue buried her face in his neck and shouted hoarsely, "Why, why did you come with Su Yao to hurt me? You know each other, right? You plotted this together, didn't you?"
Her eyes could no longer shed tears as she leaned helplessly against Xiao Luocheng, murmuring to herself.
Lord Shui was timid but clever; he knew that Qingyue would rush to see him at the first opportunity.
So he clutched the note he had left behind. When Qingyue turned him over, she saw it at a glance.
Father said that the Shui and Xiao families have been family friends for generations, but the Xiao Family's traditional Chinese medicine business has plummeted in recent years. The troubles at the Shui Family's pharmacy must be connected to the Xiao Family.
Qingyue came to find Xiao Luocheng, ostensibly to face the upcoming storms together. However, what she truly thought deep down was likely far more complicated.
In truth, Qingyue did not want to believe her father's words, but then she encountered Su Yao.
When she left, she innocently said, "Sister Qingyue, actually, it was Master Xiao who sent someone to kill your father!"
Her heart plunged into an endless coldness. If it weren't for Xiao Luocheng, how could he have rushed back so quickly after the Shui Family's incident? Staying by her side was merely a way to keep an eye on her...
