On that day, Gu Jingchen drove to the Xu Family mansion. The Xu Family was located in a high-end residential area in the city center, characterized by its tranquil environment and strict security. Xu Guangyan shook his head. “I know my own body,” he said solemnly. He then looked at Gu Jingchen with worry in his eyes. “The only thing I’m worried about is you.”
Gu Jingchen met his gaze, his eyes dimming slightly.
“Promise me,” Xu Guangyan said as he held Gu Jingchen’s hand tightly. “You must take good care of yourself; don’t let me worry.”
Gu Jingchen looked at him and nodded seriously. “I will.”
Xu Guangyan’s face showed a look of relief as he paused for a moment before asking, “Have you been seeing anyone lately?”
Gu Jingchen hesitated for a few seconds before answering, “Yes.”
Xu Guangyan looked at him in surprise. “What did you say?”
“I said,” Gu Jingchen replied steadily while meeting his gaze, “I have a girlfriend now.”
Xu Guangyan stared at him in shock. “When did you get a girlfriend?”
“A few days ago,” Gu Jingchen answered.
Xu Guangyan regarded him with a complex expression on his face. Meanwhile, Xu Zhiming stood nearby with a darkened expression as he glared at Gu Jingchen.
“Gu Jingchen,” Xu Guangyan said slowly as he looked at him, “why did you suddenly…”
“Old man,” Gu Jingchen looked at him, “You don’t want me to have a girlfriend, do you?”
“No, of course not,” Xu Guangyan quickly shook his head. “I’d be delighted!”
He looked at Gu Jingchen and added, “I’m just worried about you getting hurt.”
“…” Gu Jingchen stared at him. “I won’t.”
Xu Guangyan sighed as he gazed at him.
“Alright,” he nodded. “Since you’ve made your decision, I respect your choice.”
He looked at Gu Jingchen and asked, “Can you introduce me to her?”
“…” Gu Jingchen replied, “Not for now.”
“Why?” Xu Guangyan asked, puzzled.
“…” Gu Jingchen remained silent for a few seconds before saying, “She’s a bit shy.”
“…” Xu Guangyan was taken aback and then burst into laughter.
“Okay, okay,” he chuckled. “Since you say so, I won’t push you.”
He looked at Gu Jingchen and said, “Whenever you both are ready, bring her to meet me.”
“Mm,” Gu Jingchen nodded.
