On her way home, she received a phone call. Huizi realized that she was dealing with someone extraordinary, and she thought it better to take the initiative rather than wait passively.
The next day, she took her large camera and headed to Old Nie's house, determined to uncover any irregularities. There was a yard surrounded by a fence, and she suspected it might hide something unspeakable.
Huizi aimed her camera at a gap in the fence and spotted Xiao Shuai squatting alone on the ground, seemingly up to something mysterious.
As Huizi observed closely, upon returning to the television station, she began to scrutinize the footage frame by frame. To her horror, when she enlarged the image, she saw a terrifying sight: a pair of eyes blinking at the camera from a mound of dirt in front of Xiao Shuai.
At this point, Huizi had no choice but to believe that Meixue might be coming back to life. She shared her findings with her colleague Awei, who was equally shocked by the scene. He offered to help Huizi get to the bottom of this mystery.
They decided to start by investigating Meixue's background.
The following day, they visited the orphanage where Meixue had spent her childhood.
According to the director, fifteen years ago, they noticed something unusual about Meixue; she was a child born with supernatural abilities. While others were eating, she would use her mind to bend spoons.
Not only that, but she was also quite mischievous, enjoying playing pranks on others. She would suddenly shatter people's cups with her mind for no reason at all—she was quite the troublemaker.
However, there was a girl in the orphanage who couldn't stand Meixue's "showing off." One day, she teamed up with several other girls to bully Meixue. They locked her in the basement to let this "freak" experience isolation.
After locking the door, they left happily. But how could Meixue, with her supernatural powers, swallow this humiliation?
As the girls stood laughing in the hallway, suddenly a pair of ghostly hands landed on one girl's shoulders. In an instant, she was yanked over the railing and fell to the ground, becoming a cold corpse on the spot.
Upon learning of the incident, the Dean immediately suspected it was related to Meixue.
Sure enough, when she arrived in the basement, she was met with a horrifying scene.
Now she understood the source of Meixue's power. However, despite her supernatural abilities, coming back from the dead clearly defied the laws of nature and was unrealistic.
That evening, when Huizi returned home, she felt an overwhelming force surrounding her in the elevator, making it hard for her to breathe.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, her best friend was standing right in front of her.
At first, Huizi was startled by the sudden appearance, but once she got home, she noticed something was off.
Her friend seemed dazed and acted strangely; she wasn't wearing any shoes, and her black stockings were torn to shreds, revealing wounds all over her feet.
Huizi hurriedly asked what had happened to her friend, but in the next moment, her friend's eyes began to spin uncontrollably, clearly indicating that she had been possessed by Meixue.
Suddenly, her friend grabbed Huizi by the neck. Huizi struggled and managed to throw her into the kitchen, but her friend quickly picked up a knife and began chanting.
With immense willpower, Huizi's mother, shattered into pieces, was slowly being reassembled. However, resurrecting the dead was an act against nature. Just as Meixue was about to take form, a bolt of lightning struck down from the heavens, hitting both Xiao Shuai and Meixue directly. Flames instantly engulfed them.
It turned out that having supernatural powers was not frightening; what was terrifying was using them to perform resurrection techniques. Such acts against nature would inevitably attract divine retribution.
In the end, Meixue was burned to ashes, and her son Xiao Shuai became nothing more than a charred corpse.
Three months passed in the blink of an eye. Huizi had thought that Old Nie's wife and son were both dead, and that she would finally have the chance to live a happy life with Old Nie.
So one day, she went to Old Nie's house, ready to confess her feelings. However, she found Old Nie squatting in the yard, chanting a spell just like his son had done. It seemed he was trying to bring back his beloved son.
Old Nie didn't possess any superpowers; he was simply burdened by his obsession, unable to let go of the loved ones he had lost.
In the end, she hoped he wouldn't be consumed by his inner demons and could pull himself together to win Huizi's heart.
